  1. who cares about the rankings?? dobyns-bennet has a great program, as does riverdale, and i'm sure that both of these teams believe that they are the best in the state. it will be one heck of a semi-final game if both teams are still playing thanksgiving week, and one that i will definitely be at. the only ranking that matters is the one after week 15.
  2. aww, you ain't being nosey, region. i worked my first year for free and they placed me on full scholarship, all expenses paid, this year. pretty sweet deal--getting my school paid for to watch football games. doesn't get any better! thumb also, i'm wanting to go into coaching when i graduate, so i wanted to stay around the sport that i love so much and gain even more knowledge.
  3. okay, i'm guessing that this caldwell kid is pretty fast. okay, i guarantee you that he's not fast enough to beat riverdale's defense east to west, and he's certainly not strong enough to beat them north to south. we'll see who's the better team in week 11 or 12 when you guys are finished and we are well on our way to a state title. chump, huh? that's cool. tell you what--i'll leave you guys alone and stop being mean and let my warriors speak for themselves. there, happy?? i also modified my earlier post. i did go a little far with the team Jesus remark. truly sorry about that one, grad.
  4. bc and spike are both on the practice squads at middle and our doing quite well. i'm not sure how well one half of outkast will do, but i'm sure it'll be a great show and i'll have great seats--right on top of the press box with a camera that has excellent zoom!! thumb
  5. ralph has yet to see the field, but taron has gotten some playing time. he pulled in his first career pass against north texas for 25 yds, but he didn't get in the game against florida.
  6. region, kenyon broke his ankle a while back, but he's working out now and trying to get back in shape. i hope he can become productive and help out the team before his tenure at middle is up. yes, florida's facilities are amazing. their weight room was like something you see in movies...it was almost surreal to be surrounded by the caliber athletes that i was in such close proximity of. as for the d-1 status issue, i don't know. they are having different events, such as the outkast concert after the game against idaho next week to boost attendance. we'll see. now, if we could just schedule o'ryan to perform--region, you and i both know that would pack the house!!
  7. wow gradfromthenest...you lose your temper a little too easy. i can't help that i don't like ooltewah, and these boards are here for people to argue and voice their opinions. if you want a board where everyone agrees on something and plays nice, then why don't you go visit a disney message board and comment on the little mermaid, punk. i was a junior that year and i played in that game and ooltewah was one of the most overrated teams i ever played against. they were just terrible against us. i don't think this year will be any different. tell you what, i'll save you a seat at tomahawk stadium if you want to watch the semis, because i'm sure your boys from o-town will not be doing anything better during thanksgiving week--they surely won't have a football game that late in the season.
  8. actually, yes i did meet one of their coaches by mistake. you see, i took the press elevator to the wrong floor and wound up walking around in florida's weight room amidst florida players and coaches. one asked me and my co-worker if we needed any help, and we told him that we wound up there by mistake and he kindly but sternly showed us to our proper place. he had a really strange haircut--it looked like a half-mullet, if that makes sense. florida's offensive coordinator, larry fedora, used to live five house away from my family and my sister used to babysit his kids while he was coaching at mtsu. i saw his son in the elevator as i was leaving, but i did not see coach fedora or the rest of his family. by the way region, i'm stirring up some controversey with ooltewah fans on the ooltewah-oak ridge thread. might need you and the rest of rutherford county united to back me up. i just really don't like ooltewah, ya know?!
  9. well, let me rephrase myself--i hope segeantowl loses this one by a thousand. however, i am not a big fan of ooltewah at all, not since they talked so much in 2001 and proved so little. 2001 semifinal game--riverdale 35, ooltewah 7 and for all you ooltewah fans that are about to flood me with posts, just keep taking advice from the old milli vanilli song and "blame it on the rain." funny how you guys say that if it had not rained, then your offense could have gotten on track--didn't seem to hurt our offense that year, especially not our stud ralph king, who had over 200 yds. rushing in that game. but, i forgot that according to you guys, ralph king was overrated and didn't deserve mr. football honors--it should have gone to patrick flanagan, right? riddle me this--who had over 2600 yds and 45 touchdowns his junior year, then turned around and had 2800 yds and 50 tds his senior year with everyone and their momma keying on him. bottom line ooltewah, riverdale was better than you in every aspect of the game that year, whether you want to admit that or not.
  10. yeah region, the guy was a beast. i also got to meet #55 channon crowder, the mlb from florida that had to sit out. nice guy, but also extremely extremely extremely terrifying!! all in all, the trip to the swamp was an experience that i'll cherish forever.
  11. dave thomas, chris perkins, sean kimbrough, rahmel oliver, gaston miller, and a host of other riverdale warriors deserve some all-state honors, from first team to honorable mention. dave thomas is by far the best athlete i've seen this year, but i'm looking forward to seeing qb and wr from dobyns-bennet in the semis, because after all, we all know that riverdale and db will meet then (and ooltewah fans will be making excuses.)
  12. i hope oak ridge wins this one by a hundred.
  13. i'm not sure who the booster club pres is right now...i know it used to be bigweshall's dad. i would absolutely love to see an alumni game. i would definitely pay 20 dollars to see that one. by the way region, intimidating is not even the word to use in describing the swamp. its not just a stadium...its an atmosphere. 70,000+ gator fans doing the gator chomp while the band plays "dah-duh, dah-duh, dah-duh" and a gator attacking its prey up on the jumbotron--and thats before the opening kick-off. i went to the mt-georgia game last year in front of almost 95,000 people, but the swamp is by far the most intimidating place i've ever been. one of our graduate assistants at middle was a head coach at a jacksonville 6a school before he came here, and one florida's defensive tackles played for him in high school. i got the chance to meet him after the game, and he was enormous--6'6", about 280 with a cut, athletic build. now here's the scary part--his high school coach told me that in high school he was about 6'5", 270 lbs. and that he ran fullback. in his senior 15 game campaign, he had 9 games with over 100 yds rushing and get this, he ran a low 4.7 forty yard dash. the guy can actually do a free-standing backflip. what are they putting in the food down in florida? i mean, those guys are beasts, and that certain player is only 19 years old!!
  14. yeah, i hate i missed the '94 team on friday. unfortunately, i witnessed a raping in gainesville on saturday between the gators and the blue raiders, so i had to miss friday nite's game. i hate that, too, because i always love to see blackman get beat (sorry bhsOL). hey region, i played on the 2001 team with jda9703. he was the nose guard and i was one of the offensive tackles.
  15. sergeant owl, you may be the most numb individual to have ever posted on this forum. i played in that game and we outright demolished you, 35-7. you never even put up a fight, even after we stomped on your logo at midfield before the game. you played scared, and the rain had nothing to do with that. we were a hundred times better than you guys--in fact, the championship game that year was between riverdale and blackman. yes, your qb was big, but he was soft. and as for your starting tailback, i thought he did play, because all we heard about was patrick flanigan this, patrick flanigan that. he got ran over by a SOPHOMORE fullback that year. riverdale would demolish you guys this year, and rest assured that no one will put up 42 on their defense this year. better luck with your future posts. idiot.
  16. sports fan, i cannot disagree with you more. those teams that are ranked in those polls are excellent football teams in states that are much better in high school football than tennesee. i agree with blazer14 (and not just because i work with him) when he made his comments about the florida schools. as far as high school football goes, tennessee is a step behind the other southern states, as well as texas and california. now, don't get me wrong, i am and will always be a loyal warrior alum. i love riverdale football and everything that goes with it. however, i know that there is better out there, and i know that there are teams in lower classifications in other states that would give riverdale a run for their money. i would love to see riverdale schedule a 5a clash with teams from mississippi, georgia, florida, etc. during the regular season. then we would really see how awesome of a team that riverdale really is. likewise, these polls mean absolutely nothing. i have all the faith in the world in my boys, and yes, i believe that they are the best team in the state, regardless of classification. however, that doesn't mean that they will go undefeated. any team can be beaten on any given night--its just that it will take a darn good team to beat them. they need to stay focused on whats going on between the sidelines and not whats going on between the ears of whoever makes up these meaningless polls. just wait till december and we'll all know who is number one. there, for all of you riverdale haters, you just witnessed a former warrior player post something that does not paint a picture of the warriors as the gods of greek mythology. maybe now you guys can see that we're not as arrogant as you might think--we're just confident in our boys' ability.
  17. you're a good man, region. don't blame ya for a second for eating the goods!!! you could make ammends by tracking me down an o'ryan t-shirt (for heating my apartment).
  18. truer words have never been spoken, sports fan. great to see you, dave, and scott at the mtsu game on saturday. how about that game?? crazy huh? well, back to the subject at hand. i cannot believe that OAKLAND PATRIOTS fans are on coacht complaining about late hits, aka "cheap shots". for my entire playing career, i always had respect for oakland because they were always the most physical, hard hitting team we played during the season and usually throughout fifteen games. BUT, they had there fair share of late hitters--chris smith loved doing it, (trust me, i know) and with felonous players like marease crawford on the field, something illegal was bound to happen. i seem to remember the 2001 game, when smitty punched a downed john locke batey after he intercepted an ebalaroza pass. now, i know i have heard region speak highly of smitty on here and has even asked me how he fared during his short stint with the blue raiders. from your comments on him, region, i would guess that you like him and think he is very nice. well, to use my dad's term, smitty's after-the-play actions make him look like a meanie . bottom line, football is a physical game where emotions run high, especially in big rivalry games. in contrast to an earlier post, i would rather have a kid that gave me everything and fought his butt off until AFTER the whistle had blown over a nice kid who always played like an angel. its a fight out there, guys. c'mon now, ya'll know that. personally, i think all of the late hits and excessive physicality were a result of the players anticipating the o'ryan half time show. pretty sure i saw players from both sides running over there at one point or another to the stage. does anyone know how to contact o'ryan? i'd love to book him to sing the national anthem at an mtsu function. oh, by the way, i'm hurt region!! made the trip across town and you didn't even get me a dog!!
  19. lebanon riverdale wilson central antioch franklin gallatin
  20. hey region, i'll actually be in town this week and will be in attendance at freedom field on friday. how's about treatin' a coacht buddy to one of those world famous hot dogs?? :justwrestle: thumb
  21. oakland over blackman ( thumb s up for region) riverdale WAY over siegel smyrna over wilson central lebanon over lavergne antioch over gallatin lincoln county over cookeville centennial over franklin
  22. Well, you were right. Riverdale did not beat DC 42-3. It was only 38-2. I guess we should have listened to you. No knock meant against Dickson County, but this Riverdale team could be special.
  23. spike, great to have you on coacht with us. i know you know who i am, because i video tape your butt out at practice every day!! its great to hear about how far jacqui has come and how strong she is, but what is even more touching is how evident your love for her is. when qui had her accident, i went home that night and let my sister know that i loved her and how much she meant to me. i can't even imagine what you have been through with this whole situation, but you've been in my prayers all along, as well as the rest of your awesome family. make sure to tell your mom and dad that i said hi and that i am always praying for blessings and miracles for qui. i know your dad always likes to hear from one of his former o-line boys!! thumb stay strong spike. 2 corinthians 12:9--"my grace is sufficient. in weakness is my power made perfect."
  24. i am sooooo disappointed in you sports fan... if you want a nice pick me up, i think i'm in 12th place right now. thumb
