  1. Personal reasons I do believe. TSSAA gave him his eligibility.
  2. Zion recently acquired 6-8 Nathan Cass from Brentwood Academy this past year. He attended Zion my senior year, his freshman season, and then transferred to Brentwood Academy. While there he played behind the infamous Brandon Wright. I came back from college this past weekend and stopped by the gym and saw how much he had grown not only in height but also in his basketball talent. It was unbelieveable the way he was moving around the rim. I was told the belmont coach along with lipscomb's coach has come to Zion's gym to watch him practice. With this newly aquired raw talent, I definately see Zion being a contender in the district this season. Not only will they have the best post player without a doubt, they also are pretty solid on the outside with speed, quickness, and a couple of shooters. And the best thing of all, Zion's athletes are actually going out for basketball.
  3. I'm making the 6 hour drive to watch this game. Seperated by less than 10 miles, should be a great atmosphere for high school football. Good Luck to both teams.
  4. HAHA Thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard. W/E the sponser is they have the highest test scores in the county maybe other schools should try it.
  5. Are you kidding me? The only thing I played while at MP was basketball and I assure you I was on the team every year. I loved playing ball at MP, given I didn't get to play that much but I WAS A FRESHMEN. However it didn't matter to me b/c we won the district that year. On another note I wasn't bashing the MP coaches at all, I was simply stating that with the amount of talent they have there is no reason MP should lose to anyone in their district. You misinterpreted what I was saying. I bet you attended CA, I hear they have some of the lowest test grades in the county. Please get your facts right before posting.
  6. I guess the coaches at Mt. Pleasant are being tested this year. NOT REALLY. With the amount of athletes that school has, there should be no reason any team in single A should play with them let alone beat them. The only hard thing the coaches have to do is get the players to come out and maintain grades . Giving the amount of athletes they had last year was just ridiculus, they still have a large number of play-makers and should still be blowing these teams away. I haven't been to any of their games this season but I was just wondering why teams are playing them so close??? I've noticed a bunch of abnormal scores so it sounds like they are settling for a lot of field goals??? Wayne County, doesn't have the athletes, Collinwood, definately doesn't have the athletes, and even with CA's recruited tailback, they shouldn't be in the game after the 1st quarter. Especially now that the Nashville privates are out of the way, it seems to me that MP should be playing in late nov.
  7. HAHA I think "handles" is Rector. . Hey bottomline what ever happened to Jamarcus???
  8. Wayne County is going to need a higher form of learning than "special education" to get anywhere in life.
  9. Agreed. The multiplier is there for one reason and that reason is b/c private schools don't have a school district. Kids from anywhere can attend.
  10. AMEN. Football is a REPUBLICAN'S sport. All those liberal democrate idiots can take it to the house. I'd love to see Bush lined up with Kerry on the line!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I've got an ideal. Lets all blame Bush! There are numerus reasons that gas prices are hitting all time highs and I can assure you that it's not his fault. If you want to blame someone blame OPEC or the foreigners that have control at the gas pumps.
  12. That was the most moronic statement I've ever read. Actually they both were. Don't "play" in region 6 1A? I mean ZCA could have stayed in their christian league and continued to dominate but the school is growing and wanted to be a part of the community surrounding it. I mean isn't it about time Mt. Pleasant move up to play schools it's size? I mean they are a double A school until the class reaches 11th grade and half of them drop out. With ZCA growing as it is and with more determination like the guys out for the football team have this season, one day ZCA will dominate Mt. Pleasant......bank on it.
  13. No one is worrying about Wayne County running up the score. I believe the coaches and the whole Wayne County community have more class then that. I can't say the same thing however for the coaches at Mt. Pleasant (71-0, last year). It was ridiculous. The faculty and coaches at Zion always taught us to have respect for everyone. No doubt ZCA doesn't have the same athleticism in football as some others may have but the guys aren't there for athletics, they're there for the academics and without scholarships.
  14. ZCA just doesn't have the players this year. The first year they were in a varsity schedule will be the best for awhile. Have to admire all 17 that came out. They're going to have it tough inheriting this district which is one of the toughest in single A, not to mention some traditional single A powerhouses. Goodluck
  15. I believe a good coach is one who coaches his team to the best of their ability. My old high school is having problems right now with the number that came out for the summer practice. I believe the new coach has made it clear who his team is. They might not win a game this year but they're playing as a team and with the same team it's had since the beginning.
  16. I'm a 2004 graduate of ZCA. My senior season we had about 35 out for the team. It (football team) has gotten smaller ever since. We had a 6-3 season and that may be the best for awhile, especially with only 13 players going out this year. There were only about 130 in the high school when i was there so for the turn out..... it wasn't that bad. I know a lot of the seniors aren't playing this year due to the fact that they are lazy and don't know how much they are missing out. ZCA is entering district play this year and thats going to be tough. Two years ago we had about 13 seniors on the team, Last year they had about 8 or 9 soo on top of it being their 1st season in a district, It's also a rebuilding year. I'll say one thing, it shows a lot of heart for the 13 men that are going out for the team. They recently won a scrimmage against Nashville Christian 7-0. Good Luck.
  17. I've seen Picket County play throughout the years at state so you can't count them out, but I say Wayne County will win this one. They play pretty good defense around the perimeter and have the big bodies down low. Oh and we can't leave out the shooters Wayne County has in Nutt and Bryant. I haven't seen Picket County play this year but they're pretty much always the same type of team........Great shooters and well COACHED.
  18. Good Job MP. I'm just glad MP finally beat Moore County. They owed them for the past years.
  19. The coach of the year doesn't have to go to one of the top teams. ok Coach Boyd is as good as any but this year he also has the top talent. The coach for WC has got some really good talent also so I don't think you give it to either of them. In my opinion I think the whole district is down this year. I think MP was better last year. WC def was. CA is a little better but then again look at the rest of the district. Santa Fe HAD a really talented squad but obviously some poor attitudes ruined that one. Coach Ellison from Clifton, again, does more than anyone with what he's got year in and year out. If the guy ever had some above avg. talent, he'd be going somewhere, I think most agree. No one this year on any team just stands out from his teammates with the exception being Montez Sparkman from ZCA but they don't give the MVP to a player on the 8th seed team, so the MVP is a toss up. Prediction (why not): MVP.......Adonis Dennis (MP) COACH......CA's Head Coach MY PICK's MVP........Jamarcus Webster COACH...Coach Ellison
  20. BGA has some big bodies down low. It will be interesting to see how Wright will adjust his game.
  21. MP has yet to play a team as good as BGA. They had some big bodies and were well coached. Every team in MP's district is down this year. This week MP is getting some good experience. They finally play a decent team and that will help them out in their weak district play.
  22. I don't believe MP will beat BGA or Siegel. They are good but more so individually than as a Team. They can all FIVE dunk and can all handle the ball. I believe the BGA game will be a bit more exciting then the Siegel game. I'm am glad to see MP playing in this tourny. I believe it will help them out tremendously throughout the rest of the season and on into the playoffs.
  23. WO guys....didn't mean to imply that he would have made them win district. Just made them a lot better. I mean he's 6-7 and can play like a guard that would help any single A school I don't care what district they're in. I will say ZCA has done a pretty good job adjusting when they played with him all summer.
