  1. Congratulations, LA! You definitely showed that you are the best team in the AA. I think GC can do nothing but admit that. For everyone but Tennisguy, I say way to go HOGEYE - whatever that means. Give me a history lesson. The fact that GC lost doesn't mean they didn't have a great season, but to be the best, you have to play your best in the big game and we didn't. Develfanatic and 02Wildcat, you were right - 7AA is the best in the state. I hope we will get there someday. Tennisguy - you're still a jerk. I guess even Coach T thought so, since your thread was closed. As for PioneerPete, such GC fan didn't exist - could it have been -----------YOU? Don't think that I wouldn't respond. I'm a bigger person than you'll ever be. Congratulations GC on a great season! You should be proud of what you accomplished and let the words of Tennisguy roll off your back. Consider the source. By the way, GibsonCoSteve, I don't agree that the ref's were to blame for the loss. Our girls didn't play their game - they had faced pretty tough presses all year, but they couldn't handle it on Thursday. All that we can do is give Livingston their due. A 15 point loss is hard to blame on the ref's. Livingston deserves all the credit for that game and the state championship. Congratulations!
  2. I've been having nightmares about the last time GC went to Murfreesboro undefeated. How ironic that we'll have to play Livingston in the first round this time, too. But, we have to take care of business Saturday night for that to happen. Good luck GC!
  3. Good job, SportsradioTN!! I was beginning to wonder if Devilfanatic was the culprit. No offense, Devil, I just know how overrated you think GC is.
  4. Most people know where they are from, Pete. Can you at least answer that one? You're busted!!!
  5. Pete's doing research - he's busted!
  6. Your ignorance speaks for itself! Anything can happen in a game. I bet no one believed that Westview would lose to Haywood. We have taken some pretty good teams to Murfreesboro - sometimes played well and lost, sometimes played poorly and lost. I think this team has as good a shot as any to win and nothing would make me happier, but they can be beaten and you need to shut up and let the games be played. If we win, you can celebrate, but if we lose, you'll have a lot of crow to eat. Good luck GC!!
  7. pete, will a loss tomorrow shut you up? how long have you followed the program? ask Westview about what can happen on any given night. they are a very good team who deserves to still be playing; we could end up home after Saturday night - it's happened before. you are making a fool of yourself!
  8. Pioneer Pete, do us all a favor and shut up. Tennis guy, you're still a jerk and I thought you were going to shut up until after the tournament. There was only one trash talking GC fan - now there's 2. That's a far cry from the crap that's posted daily by the other parts of the state. We're well aware of the fact that we don't have a gold ball. And we're also aware that Jackson Co has the last 4. People like Pioneer Pete need to shut up, but so do you, tennisguy!!!
  9. Tennisguy, reread this thread. No GC fan was talking crap - just you. Actually, you are full of it - crap that is.
  10. I don't think Peabody is better coached than last year, but I think they are a very good team. I'm glad GC doesn't see them again this year. Who knows if Bellamy playing would have changed the outcome? It very well may have. I hope this adds a little more validity that people shouldn't moan about GC "padding" their schedule with "A" Trenton. Being "A" doesn't mean they are not a tough opponent. They are one of the toughest we've played. I wish Bellamy could've played, so there would be no what if's by either team. Both teams are very good.
  11. JacksonCoFan sounds a little like Hillado! (even the grammer) Anyway, I haven't seen Jackson Co. or Livingston Acad. this year, so I don't know how GC compares. Coleman, our 1st big girl off the bench is out with a possible torn ACL, had an MRI this week but I haven't heard the results. As a GC fan for 20 years, we've had some good teams to go to Murfreesboro and have never brought home the gold ball, so who knows about this team either. ? Good Luck, GC!!
  12. Thanks, mas1821! I needed a laugh today. I need to learn how to be more creative on here.
  13. Congratulations to the Pioneers and Coach Harshaw on some big wins! It's great to see you guys winning. I hope the fans get behind you and give you the support you deserve. Keep it up! It's fun for us, too!
  14. If ETSU hasn't seen them, how does she/he know they're terrible. Like I said, they are the defending state champs - but I guess that means nothing. ETSU's post was not only wrong - but it showed a great lack of class. Is that the kind of fans you want representing your team?
  15. very, very intelligent post. they are the defending state champions and returned all 5 starters. what's wrong - did they beat you or something?
  16. Surely not a 7AA powerhouse playing a single A school with a losing record?! According to tennisguy and devilfanatic, that only happens in West TN.
  17. Congratulations and good luck, Coach Bowlin! My family and I will miss you, too. Is GC close to filling the position?
  18. Thanks for the information. Would love to hear more about this guy - why he left, record, etc.
  19. Who was the coach and where did he go? Just curious - since I heard that someone from Sevier Co had applied for the Gibson Co position.
  20. Maybe someone looking for a challenge - I would love to see the program turned around!
  21. The only name I've heard mentioned is Todd Halford, the boys coach at Rutherford Jr. High.
  22. Haven't heard it and would be very surprised with his daughter having 3 more years. I certainly hope not!!!!! Anyone with info - please post. Just spoke to someone in administration - if he has they don't know about it. Most believe he will coach at least 3 more years with his daughter. [Edited by gcfan on 4-3-03 8:09A]
  23. Coach Halford would be a great choice! He has done an excellent job at Rutherford and I believe he would receive a lot of support being a local guy. It's time for the GC fans to support the boys' program like they do the girls. I know winning would help bring that type of support, but support might help bring winning, too.
  24. Best of luck to Coach Bowlin and his family!! I for one will miss those looks and the way he "toyed" with the ref's. I hope he finds a great place to coach. I admire that he was always coaching no matter the score. Many times I would be sitting there hoping for the last 5 minutes to disappear off the clock - but he was still yelling instructions. And, Skyler, he's a player that any team will be blessed to get. I was looking forward to seeing him as a Pioneer. I wish them the best!!
  25. I think the boys' basketball program and the football program at GC deserve more support. It has to start from the top. If the kids see that the administration is doing what it takes to build a winning program, I think they would be more motivated to participate. It makes me sick to see the band parents leave after halftime of the football games and half the gym leave when the girls' basketball game is over. If I feel that way with no child involved, how must the kids and partents involved feel? Hopefully, Coach Argo can turn the football program around. I feel badly for Coach Bowlin because you can tell that he's passionate about the game and I wish the basketball program was in a different stage. There is just as much opportunity for the boys to be successful as the girls have done. It's just going to take a lot of dedication and support at every level. I hope it happens!!!!!
