  1. That is a possibility. Indeed you may be right as I have a great deal of respect for Coach Weekly and you can't control the editing. My apologies.
  2. Just read Coach Weekly's comments in the Chattanooan. He credits their loss to two mistakes. He made no comment on "playing a good team" or "well coached"...no credit to JPII for their performance. I've seen dozens of soccer matches come down to the mistakes but, truth be told, most of the time the better team will capitalize on their opponents errors which is what makes them the beter team. I do sincerely believe that most of the fans who watched that game would not attribute the victory to mistakes but to a very solid possession game played by JPII. Baylor is a very good program and several of their players are among the elite players in this state. They have had a good run and I congratulate them on their character and ability. Right now, though, I've got to go dig out the Eagles album with "New Kid in Town" on it.
  3. Vandy 2, UT 1. Ut's defense was quick but lacked skill and they were on the ropes most of the evening. Vandy is high pressure, good speed, skill at all positions. Also, Vandy appeared better conditioned as UT could not seem to get numbers forward toward the end of the game. They appeared to be out of gas. Good game though.
  4. We have an injury to Grace Lawson and one of our midfielders is ill and either may not play or may play very little. I think it will be close and could not guess who will win. On any given night.......
  5. Nobody is overlooking Baylor, believe me....well coached and some great athletes. It does sound like you may be overlooking Ryan, JPII, St Agnes, Hutchinson, etc. You might want to change your screen name to "Champions4" until Nov 1 when, you have in fact, become "champions5". Just to show you how badly things can go wrong, it was said that on the eve of the battle of the Big Horn, General Custer told his men not to take any prisoners. Does it sound like he may have been a bit overconfident?
  6. You have it right, HOYA but I would add one thing. I was recently told by a college coach that there are over 350 Division 1 ladies soccer programs in the U.S. That would require approx. 9000 girls to fill their rosters alone. Then add in Div. 2 & 3 and NAIA. There truly are not enough competitive or "elite" players with the skill/ability to make all these programs competitive. The writer who is unhappy about this should put themselves in the place of the college coach who cannot attract the best national, regional or even the best local talent and he is not going to be competitive unless he can find some of those elite players. They are not simply looking for "bodies" but real talent that can advance their programs. So after N.C., Perpperdine, Santa Clara, etc. take the cream of the crop they will look where they can to find, not just bodies, but bodies who can play.
  7. I congratulate the girls of Franklin. That program has set the standard for other schools to catch up to over the years. Go into TSSAA and look at the records attributed to that school and the individual players and it is staggering. I missed seeing Monica play this year due to her injury, but hope to see her back in travel soon. Sara, Taryn and all the rest...thanks for some great competition and congrats on your senior night. JPII dad
  8. They usually don't charge at JPII but may this time since it is in the football stadium. I doubt that they will charge but could be the usualy $4 if they make a charge at all..
  9. MJUHB, you rule. I, a JPII follower, have watched your poll all season and thought you had it about right. Thought we might beat F. Ryan but they had no losses/no ties and deserved to be first in your poll. I do not understand Eurosport at all regarding Redmon and our team. Div II is strong and getting through region and state will be tough for all teams in that div. Could not guess who will come out though I have hopes. My AAA pick is Centenial and belivieve they will be there in the end.
  10. Yea, the game is on the football field as it is Senior night for 8 of our girls.
  11. The game will be played at Pope John Paul II this Saturday evening at 7 p.m. Who will win? FRA is very well coached and has some very good athletes, as usual. They also have a winning tradition and tradition counts for a lot. But...this is PJP's senior night and the last home game for about 8 seniors and they will come to play. They, too, have good athletes, a winning tradition and good coaching. Should be a good match.
  12. I am a little non-plused by the Eurosport poll and I wonder who is voting. I know preseason does not count but JPII played 4 top-10 AAA teams and defeated Brentwood, Faragut, Franklin and tied Centennial. I can't believe any of those coachs would not vote JPII into the overall. Also, JPII defeated St Agnes which is #10 on Redmon. JPII is one of the few undefeated's left, though they have 2 ties. Wonder who is voting. By the way who is DB mentioned as a voter on Eurosport.
  13. JpII Vs Clarksville canceled due to weather.
  14. I would love to see my daughter wear headgear though she never would. She had 23 stitches from one head-to-head collision and just had an MRI for a suspected concusion from a kick to the head. It may of interest that women's neck musculature and bone density do not compare are less than the male's and they cannot take the hit that males can (no sexism but a physical fact) without injury. I am "for" them but you couldn't melt one and pour it on my daughter.
  15. I think we find out tomorrow night that Centinnial belongs in the top 10. Senior heavy and very eperienced. Look out, my Franklin Friends.
