  1. This team will have the best talent for a start-up team. The facilities are good and you can bet the bank they will be winners. In that region they will always have the most athletes on the field.
  2. What teaching slots did the head coach and two assistant coaches leave behind?
  3. How many experienced head coaches are left? I bet they hire some young gun looking to make a move up.
  4. Six classifications and 8 regions. Hopefully the end of the mixed district classification system. I wish they would adapt the Alabama/Arkansas plan but it won't happen. They take the top 16 Teams and create the top classification. The next 16 teams become the second classification, then they divide the rest into four classes for all sports. You still have six classifications but it balances out the 1A through 4A teams into balanced and geographic groups.
  5. I know a couple of very good coaches who have made inquiries and no one returns their calls. The administration would probably hire the first person who walks through the door with the right certification if they clear the background check at the school administration but they will not rock the boat to get the RIGHT person in place. They also have few if any assistant football coaches in the building and the fact is you can't run a successful 5A program without quality assistant coaches. The problem with quality assistant coaches is system wide in CMCSS. Clarksville and NW have head coaches and administrations that try to work around the road blocks to get quality people. Most of the others just don't know how to do it or don't care.
  6. Ask any coach who has worked in Clarksville Montgomery County schools and they will tell you it's frustrating. They will tell you up front its not about winning games. They will assign someone to coach the team with NO assistant coaches on staff and then parents will complain when they can't compete and the cycle starts all over again. It really depends on the local school principal and the athletic director. If they are smart they can move teachers around to help make the schedule work to get a coach into a slot. Most school systems search for the BEST COACH and then make the schedule work. I don't think anyone at CMCSS thinks that way. A buddy of mine said the county AD will probably force some assistant coach from another school in the district to take over the program for the year.
  7. I doubt it. The last I heard a few weeks back was that the old coach is at another school and no one is left to coach football. No spring practice, no summer weight lifting. I guess another 1-9 or 0-10 season IF they ever hire a coach.
  8. I hear this job is going to the interim head coach who is running spring practice.
  9. Last year we had a poll asking if your football program had coaches on the football field during the offseason running passing drills or other illegal activities and to no one's surprise a lot of folks responded yes. I think most new head coaches just don't know they aren't supposed to coach football year round. Maybe they reason that they have a football class or maybe they do so because they see baseball or basketball coaches stretching the rules. I am happy the TSSAA is clamping down on this and school administrators who read these threads should make their coaches know they will not tolerate breaking practice rules.
  10. Pioneer, that wasn't my pick, just a list of teams. I don't know very much about this district but based on last year I would think Milan and Covington would be the top two teams with Dyersburg and Westview in the 3 and 4th slots. Obion should drop a bunch and I think Haywood will be much improved.

  19. Rumors out of C-Town is that they may not name a head football coach at NW until the end of May. I guess there won't be any spring practice for the Vikings?
  20. How quickly the people of Roan Mountain forget! This was the same Coach that you cursed in the state championship game when he refused to call the dogs off in that record breaking offensive game in 2000. I guess if you can't beat em, join them? This is way too strange.
  21. NW is up against the wall. The AD says he will hire someone within two weeks. The problem is spring football is right around the corner and no teaching positions are available in the building. They will have to hire from within the school system because I hear it takes weeks to get screened by human resources. Clarksville is a strange place to work because of the school board restrictions. All coaches must teach a full load of classes and no athletic period. Very few qualified veterans will want to teach six classes a day and coach football with no assistant coaches in the building. This should be interesting. It wouldn't surprise me if this hire isn't someone who is already teaching and coaching in Clarksville/Montgomery County.
  22. What are you saying? The A.D. wants to call the plays? You're being very vague. Explain
  23. No offense to anyone in Lafayette but I seriously doubt you guys will not get a 'big name' coach no matter how much money you have to pay because the 'big names' go where they can win year and year. I hope I am wrong and I hope you guys land a good coach. I'm just keeping it real. There are some good young coaches who are looking for the move up from coordinator to HC who would do a fine job.
  24. It's going to be hard to find a coach that teaches Geography. They are looking for only what teaching positions they have open and can't even interview someone without the proper certifications. Too bad for their kids.
  25. I am curious what other schools are doing with their teams in the off-season?
