  1. I was not looking at 21 years, I thought they capped at 15 years? When I was there, few coaches had that many years and the coaching supplemental (incremental increase) wasn't much. The base pay for a head coach is still $6000. How many head football coaches in Williamson County have over 20 years experience?
  2. Williamson County does not pay head coaches much money compared to other school systems. A head football coach in Williamson County earns $6,000. In Davidson it is a percentage of gross teacher pay (10%). Assistant coaches earn less. None of the TN counties you selected pay $70,000 per year! I have no doubt some booster clubs kick in extra money in some places but all of that would be on the books if they follow the TSSAA regulations. It is true that some Alabama schools pay $10,000 or more per year than TN schools.
  3. Maybe after next year. There is a lot more to being a head coach than X's and O's or the love of the game.
  4. There have been some strange hires these past two years. Young men with very little experience being hired over men with decades of experience. I guess it is becoming a young mans game or the powers that be simply want people they can control?
  5. Dang, I should have applied there! The truth is things will get a lot worse for anyone coaching at any of the under performing schools in Jackson.
  6. Please hire Shawn Jackson. lol
  7. $1500 is not much for a head football coach. Yes, the two additional months of salary helps but most assistant coaches earn $2000+ in the district. Most band, head football and basketball coaches all earn the same supplement/stipend.
  8. That will be difficult to replace. I don't know too many coaches with a science endorsement.
  9. You boys leave old Bobby alone. He might hit you up side of your head with a golf ball someday or run you down with a golf cart!
  10. I can't see too many respectable coaches accepting the terms of employment in the county unless things have drastically changed in the past four years?
  11. Is there an assistant coach who has a brother who helps out? Someone on that staff?
  12. I thought the head coach had a brother who helped him? Who am I thinking about?
  13. So reading between the lines of your quote: THEY NEED TO HIRE SOMEONE WITH MANY YEARS EXPERIENCE AS A HEAD COACH? Few of those that have been mentioned for the job has multiple years as a HEAD COACH. I would suggest they have two options to consider, GO YOUNG with Hoath or OLD with an experienced head coach. Who do you have in mind?
  14. Dover pays more for a head coach. Not much more but more than he was making. His name has came up on message boards for years as having applied or interviewed for positions. Will his brother be coming with him?
  15. I have heard now from three sources the coach will be hired from within the Maury county school district. Two of the sources work for the school system.
  16. The TSSAA message board reads: Peabody High school is searching for a new head football coach. I think they would be crazy not to take Bland if he wants the job.
  17. Stewart County will be down for a year or two.
  18. I doubt Herzog would apply for a 1A position. I don't know much about Duncan.
  19. Bring back the uno Grandes bolas, Bill Cox!
  20. It is my personal belief that you should be at least 28 to 30 years old before you become a head football coach in high school. My reasoning on that age is you should have worked as an assistant coach under someone for a minimum of five seasons. If you graduate from college at age 22, then work as a teacher and assistant coach for five years (23-28), then you MIGHT be ready to take on the head position. I also think it helps to have kids of your own so you know what it is like to be a parent. Coaching HS football is not for everyone. It takes a certain kind of person to be a head football coach these days.
