  1. Here's my understanding, For A/AA , 4 teams - 1 team from each of the four sections will qualify for state. For AAA, 8 teams - 1 team from each of 8 regions will qualify for state. Sounds like each region and section will set its own rules for determining the sectional A/AA team champion. According to a previous post, Section III will have a sectional quad format. Two teams from regions 5 and 6 will be selected based on team matches within the regions during the season. Guess top team in each region could declare themselves small school champion. Does anyone know format for A/AA state dual championship?
  2. How will seeding be done at the sectional and state A/AA duals?
  3. Even with the new A/AA state duals, the competing teams come from very different sized schools. Greenback and FRA are coed schools with less than 300 students while Hixson, East Ridge, Page, and Springfield have over 950 students. Extra pressure may be on Hixson, Page and Springfield this year since the new TSSAA 2005-2009 enrollment numbers for those schools are over 990 (Page enrollment is 1188) and will push them into the AAA group next year. Here's the TSSAA 2001-2004 enrollment numbers(no multiplier) for: Section I Seymour(849) /Kingston(716) / Greenback(255) Section II Hixson (990) / East Ridge(961) Section III Page(956) / Lipscomb(513)/ Fairview(592) / FRA(283) Section IV Harpeth(587) / Springfield(960)/ Cheatham Co.(626)
  4. Anyone know where you can get individual results from tournament? Thanks
  5. Does anyone have team list and seeds for this weekend's Central Invitational in Chattanooga area? Also will the individual results be posted anywhere? Thanks
  6. Here are the team results from last night. It would be great if everyone would spare the trash talk and stick to the match information. Rossview beat Kenwood 43-25 Rossview beat Dickson County 46-23. Kenwood beat Dickson County 49-26. Some individual Ross/Ken match info: Ross's Ryan Anderson(171) pinned Kenwood's Chris George Ross's David Johnson(160) beat Pat Walsh 8-2 victory. Ross's Townsel(152) pinned Donald Fowler
  7. Would someone be so kind as to explain how the upcoming A/AA State duals will be organized? I understand that 4 teams (1 from each section) will advance to the state duals on February 4&5th. Some of my questions are: 1. Are "sections" determined by regions? ie. region 1&2 = section 1 , region 3&4 = section 2 and so on? 2. How are teams seeded within the sections? 3. When and where are the sectional meets going to be held? Thanks.
  8. DAL Where did you see Hixson over Christmas? I agree that with 6 returning state qualifiers, Hixson should have a great chance to capture the state A/AA team title. How do you compare the lineups for Hixson and Harpeth ? Harpeth looks strong at 140 -160. Where's Hixson's toughest wrestlers?
  9. You can check results from last night at: http://www.mccallie.org/athletics/wrestlin.../MIWT/main.html
  10. McCallie website says brackets will be posted after 11pm tomorrow, the 16th. Given the strong talent at the tournament, seedings will likely play a big part in determining the 1-2 top finishers in each weight. Good luck to all the wrestlers.
  11. I took it from MBA's school website.
  12. Big Red is Alive and Kicking Big Red has scored the following wins: Overton 49-22, FRA 57-18 and Centenial 56-15
  13. From MBA Website: December 9: The Big Red won a hard fought match over John Overton 49-22. The Big Red wrestlers had outstanding performances from John Michael Simpson, Patrick Bradley, James Nutkis, Justin Hall, Ben Bellet, Ben Turk and Allen Riley. The most exciting match of the night belong to Brooks Tate who scored a takedown with 2 seconds left to win the match
  14. Brentwood and FRA both beat MLK pretty decisively. Brentwood beat FRA 40-24. Jessie Murphy wrestled up at 140 against Holliman and lost a major decision. He has wrestled 135 all other matches this season.
  15. Thanks for the posting. What happened to Holliman of Brentwood? Did he wrestle?

  17. So far I see a lot of "motion" with the weight cert. program but not a lot of "progress". Big time weight cutting is still taking place. Seems most teams have found a way to beat the new machines, or find a wrestler-friendly machine. Someone tell me I am wrong and this new program is making a difference and worth the headaches. Please give me some examples where wrestlers are wrestling higher weights than under the old rules. I am not seeing it. It seems that, somehow, everyone is still getting to their desired weights. Tell me I am overlooking something. I want to be a believer.

  19. Anyone care to share last night's team and individual match results? Thanks
  20. Anyone know which teams are competing Friday night at the Overton Fall Brawl duals? Yah, I know Overton is one of them.
  21. Anyone know where brentwood high school's website went? It had some great info. on Brentwood Invitational.
  22. Has anyone seen some good TN individual high school wrestling websites? I have seen a couple of good ones for Hendersonville, Smyrna and Ravenwood. If so, please list them and their links. Thanks
  23. Looking at Region 6 enrollment numbers it appears the private schools are going to have the opportunity to demonstrate the adage "quality not quantity". Maybe TSSAA will let the Region 6 private schools form a combined team. Private CPA - 280 FRA - 285 Lipscomb - 513 Nashville Christian - 175 Public Overton 1518 Hillsboro 1152 Hillwood 1399 Franklin 1400 Independence 1244 Brentwood 1361 Centennial 1587 Ravenwood 1146
  24. Milldo: I concur with Cchulk. I think most participants are looking for some competitive preseason wrestling time, not victories. Some guys will have had virtually no experience and practice this season while others have been wrestling most of the summer. Wait a minute! I think I hear the studs playing the tune: Lose to the best, learn from the best. playing in the background. Let the slaughter begin.
