  1. Rather see some info. on the individual matches than rehash the trials and tribulations of the referees. Anyone know where to get it? Thanks.
  2. Anyone know where you can get individual results? Thanks
  3. What's the real reason for not wrestling Whit Dunning? Sitting out to let another wrestler get mat time doesn't make sense. Ryan forfeited 119, a weight Whit routinely wrestles.
  4. Assuming it's correct (quite an assumption), the Tennessean.com shows that Ryan beat Overton last night 50-20. Overton swept the 103-125 classes while Ryan took all the rest. Overton forfeited 145 while Ryan forfeited 119. Results show that Dunning didn't wrestle. Anyone know if this is true and, if so, why Dunning didn't wrestle? Hiller went up to 130 and beat Jennings 12-1. Charlie Oddo of Ryan was back from his injury and won at 135. Ari went 125 and majored Demille.
  5. Anyone have team and individual results? Thanks
  6. Coach, you've got a great website. The statistics and pictures are both informative and timely. Hope your team has a great season.

  8. Top Ten Reasons Wrestling isn't more popular: Growing boys like to eat. Wrestling room stench is hazardous to your health Little old ladies and folding chairs are not allowed on the mat. Body piercing is prohibited. Parents butts can't tolerate 12 hour tournaments Can't use excuse: "He was bigger than me" to explain defeat Matmaids wear more clothing than their WWF counterparts. Moms can't stand seeing their babies' faces smashed into the mat Some guys find grabbing sweaty body parts offensive. Number 1 reason: Wrestling singlets tell no lies.
  9. Match score was 55-14 MBA over Overton. Sorry I don't have individual results.
  10. Great matchup and great match @ 125lbs tonight. Simpson(MBA) defeated Ibrahim(Overton) in double overtime.
  11. Anyone have a link to get the Overton results?
  12. If your interested, there's an interesting report on weight management and nutrition entitled " Taking it to the Mat: The Wrestler's guide to Optimal Performance" prepared for the NCAA by the Unv. of Mass. Center for Nutrition in Sport. It does a good job of explaining the importance of nutrition (especially hydration) and provides recommended training days/competition days diet plans for wrestlers. You can see the report at: http://www.ncaa.org/champadmin/wrestling/mat.pdf
  13. Anyone have information on times and teams for the Overton Fall Brawl on Friday and Saturday? Anyone know of a website link? Thanks
  14. I think the new NCAA approach is better, and more fair. OT is suppose to signify that the match was even up to that point. Giving the wrestler with the first points in regulation the choice in 2nd OT infers that the order of points has value when, in fact, it does not. The match is determined by how many points, not when the points were awarded. Hope high schools make the change.
  15. The banner celebrating FRA's Fourth consecutive state championship was earned by the hard work and support of its runners, coaches and supporters. The banner was intended to acknowledge the accomplishments of an extraordinary team. It's a shame that a few peoples' reaction was juvenile jealousy and larceny.
  16. Team Results for the Boys A-AA are: 1. FRA 104 2. Elizbethton 106 3. Sullivan Central 116 4. Chatt. Christian 145 5. Fayette Ware 165 6. David Lipscomb 204 7. Chatt. Arts & Science 215 8. CPA 220 9. Walker Valley 298 10. White House Heritage 318 Congratulations to all. This was a really competitive year. In fact, the 104 winning score is the highest ever for an A-AA team and second highest ever in state history ( 1980 Oak Ridge team had 115).
  17. The City Paper in Nashville has done a great job with High School sports in the Nashville area. While cross country doesn't get the same coverage as football, it does get a reasonable amount of coverage including a few photos. What's even better is that now the City Paper's online version offers a full pdf format - free. The Tennessean allocates most of its High School coverage to the more popular sports (football, soccer, basketball) and, except for the post-season accolades, limits cross country to a few box scores.
  18. Individuals to watch at the boys A-AA are: Ryne Sexton of Station Camp. He's run 15:57 at both the region and mid-state. Spencer Whittier of Chatt. Christian has run 16:09 at TN Classic. Matt Cowan of FRA has run 16:16 at Metro and 16:21 at Region With cool weather and stiff competition, we might see some sub-16 runs.
  19. If pressure motivates, FRA, CCS, Lipscomb and Sullivan Central should be at full speed on Saturday. FRA has a chance to be the first boys team to win four consecutive State CC championships. CCS and Lipscomb each has 4 seniors on its squad running their last races (Sullivan has 3 seniors, FRA 2). Sullivan also has the pressure of knowing its A-AA days are numbered. With 1022 students, Sullivan will likely be reclassified AAA by TSSAA at the next classification. Hats off to White House-Heritage which assembled a regional winner with a student population of under 300. WH-H should be quite a CC powerhouse when its student body matures in size.
  20. Heard CCS's top runner dropped out of regional race. Will he be ready for Saturday? Hope so. Also, I heard a couple of Lipscomb's runners were running hurt last week. Hope they recover for Saturday. Comparing the top teams, its looks like they will be really tight. I think the race will be determined by the relative performance of each team's 4&5th runners. No team has a sub-16 runner. Whittier of CCS and Cowan of FRA should be top runner for their respective teams and should run sub 16:15 - weather permitting. CCS, FRA, Sull. Cen. and Lipscomb all have multiple runners capable of running sub-17 minutes. The unknown is how the squads' 4 & 5th runners will perform. I have my personal favorite, but genuinely hope everyone has a personal best time on Saturday.
  21. Let me start the discussions. I think the top 5 contenders are, in no particular order of preference: Sullivan Central Chatt. Christian Chatt. Arts & Science Franklin Road Academy David Lipscomb As a dark horse contender, I go with White House-Heritage
  22. Interested in hearing everyone's thoughts on how the Boys A-AA state team champtionship will go next Saturday. The following teams for Regions 1-6 are competing. I couldn't find the region 7 & 8 regional qualifies. Please submit them if you know them. Region 1 Sullivan Central Elizabethton Sullivan North Region 2 Gibbs Anderson Co.
