Thanks. Great season to Tyner! They have a great team. Unfortunately, they had some younger fans by us that were atrocious. Attacking kids verbally from a distance. And chanting F*** Loretto the final min 45 seconds when they realized the game was getting out of hand.
-
I grew up in Loretto. I'm not very close to the team, just have a lot of insider knowledge is all. Alcoa and Loretto aren't comparable. What a joke comparison. A little research would show that outside of Burleson, all of Loretto's stars over the past 10-20+ years have come from South Lawrence Elementary or Leoma Elementary. Of course I'm going to defend my school when uneducated trollers spew nonsense behind their online account because some jealous coaches talk conspiracy theories with their favorite CoachT personality!
-
I wish I was as confident as you. With Tidwell not being anywhere near 100%, we will have our hands full with Tyner. Super athletic and a stud PG!
-
Yep. The talent is pretty evenly spread considering the population disparity between Lburg and Loretto/Summertown. It's crazy the amount of success Summertown has had the past 5-10 years. Several gold and silver balls in Tennis, Golf, Volleyball, and Softball. From top to bottom, I doubt you find a more successful athletics program in the state over the past 7-8 years. Hurts saying that as a Loretto resident. Lol.

There are a lot of kids that have family that live in North Alabama. Some teachers live there (Loretto is less than 10 minutes from the state line). Loretto doesn't pull athletes from North Alabama, we have played them in all sports for decades and I've never seen a kid from North Alabama move to Loretto to play for Tipps or any of our other coaches. If any have moved here, it's when they were very young. 6'8 Buie is from Leoma. I'm not 100% sure on exact %'s, but I would say that 65% of kids that go to Leoma elementary end up at Loretto, the rest end up at LCHS. Most of the better athletes come from South Lawrence, Buie is an outlier. 6'5 Burleson is the Summertown xfer (played from 8th-11th grade for Summertown before a falling out). 6'4 Tidwell is from Loretto (both his parents grew up in Loretto). 6'2 Reynolds is from Loretto (I'm not sure where he was born, but he's been here since he was a little kid). 6'2 Roberson is from Loretto, so were his parents and grandparents. 6 ft Wilkerson is from Loretto. Again, not sure where he was born, but he's been in Loretto since he was a little kid. Loretto is one school that will never be hit for recruiting (or any other violations like that). People like to run their mouth, that is all. The indoor facility (as well as more local clinics & trainers) has given our local athletes a better chance to develop skills than in decades past. If they have the work ethic, they will excel.

Well, your sources are full of it, and I'm beginning to think you are as well. Tipps has been coaching Loretto boys for almost 10 years and he has had 1 high level transfer. Actually, some kids have left the team over the past several years because of his expectations. He coaches them to win and be their best. If you don't have the right mindset/attitude, he's not the coach you want to play for. He's a lot of things, but a cheater is not one of them.
-
Absolutely untrue. We have had 1 transfer and that was due to some drama that happened at his old school (Loretto's biggest rival in Summertown). It was a complete shock to Coach Tipps when he found out he was transferring. All of Loretto's other kids came from South Lawrence or Leoma Elementary (Loretto's two feeder schools).

Never know. Shocked at how close the game was between Hickman and Alcoa.

1st cousin.

Defense saves us on nights like this. One of our best players is playing at about 50% and none of our shots are falling. Have to be better on Friday for sure.
-
Agreed. That's why it hasn't been done in TN in 17 years. But, they have the recipe to do it. Super athletic, very skilled, great size, a PG that rarely turns the ball over, a few shooters, and a great coach. I'd be a lot more confident if Tidwell was 100%.
-
Who ya got? Not sure what % Mason Tidwell will be at if he's able to play for Loretto. His ankle/foot looked horrible during substate; he was out there jogging around during warm-ups, but he was favoring it substantially. Hoping he's back and healthy enough to play at a high level, we'll see if that happens. What does LC have from a height/athleticism/coaching perspective?

Alcoa by 20+.

NFHS makes us sit through these commercials focusing on "please be nice to the refs", yet these are the all stars that TSSAA puts in the championship game. Fans have never been "nice" to refs when they make horrible calls (especially those that blow call after call). It's just that people are so weak in modern times that they can't take criticism or show accountability.

Definitely not an endorsement of recruiting. I'm not privy on what caused her to transfer, but it was a great benefit to Westview. That's all I was alluding to.
-
Great game. Good composure by Westview to fight through adversity and come back to win when their outside shots weren't falling. If not for Gray, York would've won this game by 10-15. What a great pickup by WV.
-
Yep, best players play basketball. So, they're not with the team yet.
-
Never compared them. If Westview played to the best of their ability, and Bradley Central looks like they did against Coffee County in a game against Westview, I think it would be a game. I also think Bradley could beat them by 30 if Westview wasn't on.
-
Westview beat Dyersburg by 20+ and Dyersburg will probably win the 3A title. The gap between classifications isn't "huge". Not very significant this year actually. Several games that squash that theory. As for Bradley, I realize they are on another level, but if anyone could handle the ball and shoot the ball well enough to give them a game in TN, it would be Westview.
-
Would love to see Westview play Bradley Central.
-
Completely shocked at how Richland has looked this game. Happy for the folks from Greenfield, though.

Good post. McMinn Central is a very good team. I think the lack of adjusting Defense based on the teams you play was the dagger. As for the one sided officiating reference, I think that's just emotional investment in their team. There was ticky tack fouls called on both sides, and hard contact with no calls on both sides. You can watch the NFHS video and see that any inconsistencies in officiating was present on both ends of the court, definitely not one sided. Also, a previous poster or 2 referenced the tech that "shouldn't have been called". MC's coach made a conscious decision to look at the ref, put both his hands in the air, and forcefully wave them at the ref as an act of disgust with the call (an obvious charge on MC's PG). I think this was more of an emotional response to that being her 5th foul than anything else, but regardless, that kind of response gets a T every day of the week in Middle TN. The reaction that caused the T is also clearly visible in the OnDemand video of the game via NFHS.

Very impressed with Coalfield! But, I don't see them getting past Richland. I'd put my $ on them taking the gold ball back to Lynnville with them.
-
I'd take this bet in a heartbeat.

Ally had 23 points, 10 rebounds and several steals.
