  1. The Wartburg Bulldogs are the top of District 4-A, and will be in the top few of Region 2-A. There are only a handful of teams in single A that will compete with Wartburg in my opinion: Cosby, Harriman, Rockwood, Oliver Springs. This is not to say that there will not be many challenges to Joe Layne's bunch, including some scrappy teams that can play their style, such as Oakdale, Coalfield, and Oneida, just to name a few in their District. So, to say that Wartburg will not have any competition is wrong, but they are a very talented, and extremely well coached group of hard nosed players that relish on the thought of another championship. Best of luck to the Bulldogs, and all the teams of Region 2-A. But, championships are won on more than just luck...
  2. Good hire for Carter. Brad Flatford is a very good coach, and also a great person. Carter will enjoy having him. Cosby will miss him. The other coaches in their Cosby's district and region are glad to see him go...which is probably the best compliment someone could give a coach... Congratualtions Brad...
  3. Eldridge would be a great choice. I think it is time for him to move home...if that is what he wants. He has a great situation at Anderson County, and has built that program. I know that Anderson County would love to keep him. A class act on and off the court, and one of the best coaches in Tennessee without a doubt. Good luck, E, in whatever you decide to do. May God bless you.
  4. I agree with you, Chill. Gary Barnes is a very talented coach who will earn respect from the players, and the community. He should be a top candidate, regardless of who is on the school board. When will a decision be made?
  5. JKar, Didn't play CAK, played Catholic, and yes, the score has been given...Catholic is a very good team. However, Oneida bounced back with a win at Clarkrange, with a buzzer-beater from Dustin Walker. Good win, Indians. You guys found a way to win... Now it's time to focus on Oakdale..."redemption"
  6. I agree with you, chill...6-10 are questionable, but that's they way the computer rankings work sometimes... Good thing we have a playoff system!!!
  7. You're right Ro...Patience....that was the key to the game. Movement on offense, clock management, solid team defense, rebounding, and patience...this is what wins ball games. Good job Indians, but don't be content...
  8. Wartburg played very well. Oneida didn't.
  9. Final Score: 63-16... rebound margin was 49-10. I'm shocked at this. I honestly thought Scott would play better. Good thing is they have another game soon to get things back on track, against a struggling Loudon team. What's up in Loudon? Anyway... Scott Highlanders: do not get too down about this! There are still games to played. Learn from mistakes, get better.
  10. Oneida has lead in the 2nd half of 7 of their 11 losses. 3 losses coming within 4 points. Your talking about a team that could be 14-4 or close...but instead, because of not taking care of the basketball and controlling the clock, they are 7-11. Again, I believe that the Indians will make a strong turnaround. It needs to start soon, (Tues. @ Wartburg) but they can do it...if they remain TEAM oriented.
  11. jdubz...never said anything bad about you, your team, or your school...read my post.... Chill is right....what about AC & Scott???
  12. This is getting crazy...first off, Oneida Special School District isn't a name given because they "separated" themselves from the county school district....it is given because they are an independently funded school system...unlike state supported school systems such as scott county or any other county school system for that matter. Yes, I guess we could say Oneida Independent School District, but, it's not just merely Independent....... I wish the best to Scott High in their academic pursuits and athletic competitions. They are a team, school, and disctrict on the rise, and will continue to do very well. They are headed in the right direction. BUT LET'S GET BACK TO THE TOPIC OF THIS THREAD AC will shoot the lights out in their own gym... Scott will play good defense, and hustle... These two teams match up well...Scott matches them better than any team in the District. but in the end, AC controls the game with ball movement and will make enough shots, especially from the Free throw line, (late in the ball game) AC by 7
  13. Chill, need to add Dustin Walker from Oneida to the list...although I don't know his exact stats right now... Something like 42%, 16ppg...13 games... To answer you question about teams... AAA- my opinion is Halls or Karns...but that's just my opinion...it's a easier choice in AA & A. AA- has to be Anderson County....too many weapons to choose from...who do you stop? A- Cosby or Wartburg - both teams very similiar...Very good guards and good shooting posts Private - Catholic...without question...Connor by himself...but then add Parton...very good shooting team.
  14. Your right...CAK / Cosby will battle it out in D.3....and I think Wartburg will give Rockwood all they want...especially come tourney time....Wartburg is a team that will improve as the season goes on...Rockwood is the favorite, but it's only half-way finished....then there's Oneida. A team that beats Wartburg but has been inconsistent in performance this season. A team that could very possibly battle in the mix of the District and Region...but the question is...which Oneida team will show up? Keep up the good work, Chill...Happy Holidays!
  15. good poll, chill. i agree with you on most... Cosby will shake up your rankings in District 2, but...still, your always showing off your knowledge about the game of basketball. Good job.
  16. I'm not one to make excuses...or to talk about the officials...so I won't. Neither should the Oneida players. Muffin, that shows a lot of class...good job...your mom must be proud. WrittenWord, no, the calls didn't go Oneida's way (22-9 for the game, 15-6 2nd half), and no, the ball didn't bounce Oneida's way, and no, the Indians didn't score enough points to win...and yes, Ledbetter is a very nice high school basketball player...wish him all the best in college. He has the size and enough athletic ability to play at the next level. York did what they had to do to win...they made their free throws(18/21)...(only 3 made buckets in the 4th quarter, 7 in the second half)...12/14 free throws in the 4th quarter... and yes, Wululu, it was a better game than the score indicated...with 4 1/2 min. left, the score was tied... Good job, York... No excuses...just results.
  17. Coach Hall's sister died recently...but he's fine. He's a fighter...if you know him at all, you know he has a strong faith, and he'll be fine.
  18. This should be a good game...especially at the Rage in the Cage! However, I don't feel OS has the firepower to keep up with the Highlanders. Scott High takes this one, in a hard fought game, by 8. May your thoughts and prayers be with Scott's head coach, Bill Hall and his family...
  19. Yes, Kaz, they are that good. Very solid defensive team, with shooters and athletic post men...and extremely well coached. Well said about moving on and playing tonight's game. That's the great thing about basketball, you get to play again, and redeem yourself sooner than in football.
  20. Given some time to improve his players, Coach Mitchell will do a great job at White County. I'm glad to see that he won against Kingston. Does anyone know if Matt Poole played for Kingston, the big lefty? I heard he was out for some reason, but I can't find out from anyone with absolute knowledge. Keep working Warriors. Coach Mitchell is a great coach and will lead you right.
  21. The Indians played well at thier Thanksgiving Classic this weekend. Oneida beat a good Cloudland team by 13, and had chances against a very talented Cosby team. Oneida can now look to catholic, and then to district competition, Oakdale (tues.) and Wartburg (fri.) Good job Indians...
  22. Cosby beat Oneida by 10. Cosby got up early by 12, and then Oneida fought back led by Casey Byrd, cut it to four in the third quarter. It stayed 4-8 the whole time, Oneida had to foul at the end, Cosby bumps it up to 10. Dexter Manning(cosby) 20 points, 3 trey's. Jon Orick (oneida) 16 points, 4/14 shooting. Dustin Walker (oneida) 14 points, 3 trey's Casey Byrd (oneida) 13 points, 2 trey's Tim Blakely (cosby) 13 points, atleast 10 rebounds. Very good game to watch. Both teams fought hard.
  23. Cosby out shot Harriman by 30 points. One player from Cosby, can't remember his name, (#24), had 6 straight three's in the first quarter, and 20 points. He had 22 or 24 at half time. Awesome game to watch. Harriman caused trouble with some presses, but the shooting was too much to overcome. Oneida started out slow with Clouldand, and it was back and forth the whole game until Oneida made a run in the fourth quarter led by Dustin Walker with 24. Oneida wins by 13. Tomorrow's schedule: Harriman/Cloudland @ 4:30 Oneida/Cosby @ 7:30
