Just found out this weekend that East had lined up three scrimmages this summer. They will scrimmage Rutledge on August 6 and then scrimmage Jefferson County on Aug. 10 and then their last scrimmage will be on aug. 17 against Science Hill. Looks like East will get a feel of what they have or do not have early in camp. I hope East can have a good showing this year. What are some of the thoughts regarding East High and the expectations for this years football team.

Jiveturkey All I have to say about my playing career was that I started 36 games in high school and was named 1st team all-state at linebacker not once but twice and then I went on and played college football where I was named 1-AA All-American so there is my pitful playing career. Not to brag on myself I just wanted to set it straight with jiveturkey. East has had good talent the last couple of years and year I agree that the talent was not used correctly but West has still had more talent then East. Good luck to the Trojans next year except for week 5 when you play east.

There are alot of schools who have played 3A the last 4 years and now will be forced to play 4A Examples are Fulton, Anderson Co. It looks like Maryville will be right on the line on whether they will be playing 4A or 5A. I hope Maryville moves up because I truly feel that most teams in 5A can compete with Maryville not to say some of the top notch 4A programs can not but week in and week out Maryville will have to be ready to play in 5A. I was just wondering what are some of the rumors going around that Region 2 in 4A may no longer exist after this year. I have heard that Morristown East, West, Cocke Co., and Greeneville will have to play in the Knoxville 4A region and Cherokee, Volunteer and David Crockett will play in the Johnson City region. Is there any truth to this rumor

Enrollment has just come out by the TSSAA and West has 1247 students with east having 1265. The number of students at East has dropped and the number at West has increased over the past 5 years. East once was a 5A school with an enrollment of 1400 kids and West only had about 1100. Both will still be playing 4 A when the next classification comes out for the next 4 years.

jiveturkey you act like East has never beaten West four years in a row matter of fact East dealt West 7 consecutive losses from 1992-1998. And most of these games were not even close. Example 1994 East 37 West 13. So don't be bragging that you are 4-0 against East so what do you think your the only one in the world who is 4-0 against someone. Matter of fact a good friend of mine was 4-0 against West and you do not see him on this thread talking about 4-0, so in other words stop living in the past because you are only as good as your last game and I recall West losing their last game so both teams have to improve. I have lived in Morristown long enough to know that the talent level in Morristown goes in cycles. Look at the series besides the last 12 years and no team ever won more than 2 in a row so the cycle of talent is on its way to East High School GO CANES!

amen sugarcane who is jiveturkey and why does he have a right to brag about being 4-0 against East. Were you a contributer or a kid who stands on the sidelines and is a cheerleader. I was just wondering. About East dropping Jeff Co. I think it was a very smart move to drop Jeff. Co because East is trying to build a program and it does East no good to open up with Jeff Co. then play Powell and then Knox Central. Why have a team that is trying to rebuild open up 0-3 and lose all confidence. I would like to see East schedule Jeff Co. again I think it is a good rivarly and East has about the same talent as Jeff Co. has. Good luck to Jeff Co. and Coach Hastings.

Just received some information that East has three kids transferring in this fall. One kid is from Atlanta and the other two are brothers from N.C. I hope these three kids can fit in to the program and contribute some. The kid from Atlanta is about 6'3 but I do not know whether he plays football or not the other two kids from N.C. play football. One of the kids plays OL and the other kid is only a sophomore. East needs all the players they can get.

Word has it on the street that Seals may be also on his way out the door. Looks like another great young coach has decided to say the heck with East High. Why don't the administration including Dale Lynch get a clue about athletics. Seals put in his time and effort with the kids only to be looked over by a 65 year old coach who is just looking to make some money. I really believe that until east high can get over its phobia about young coaches they will always be a second rate program

Big Daddy I do have faith in East High football but the players that were lost last year will hurt them this year. I believe that a running back will emerge but unless you can throw the football, teams will put 8 people in the box and the ability to run goes down the drain. I do believe that Seals will have his defense one of the best in the conference. I really believe that his time is coming soon to be the next head coach at east high. I think that he got the raw end of the deal last year when he served as the "interim coach" and then was not given the job. That is how politics go and I do not believe seals plays that role very well. As I said earlier Greeneville will be the team to beat followed by Morristown West and then the conference is up for grabs. I do think volunteer will be improved as well as Cocke Co. I just hope East can grab a playoff spot and win a first round game this year. Good Luck Canes

East will be about a 500 football team. They lost their entire backfield plus their most productive receiver. I think the big number that you saw last year on offense will not be seen this year. East will have to win with their defense and special teams. Their defense was much improved last year under the guidance of Billy Seals and the special teams should be better with the punter Alan Estes returning. By looking at East's schedule they have a chance to win 5 or 6 games this season coming up. I do not think anyone in the conference can beat Greeneville this year. They are going to be scarcy this year. Gook luck to East on the upcoming season which begins on Aug. 28 against Campbell Co. at home.

Here is the problem with cancelling the game. The only reason the game was cancelled was because Don Woods is scared as heck to play and the principal at West Mike Reed is a puppet to Don Woods. Whatever Woods wants Reed gives it to him. This is football for God's sake it is not baseball or softball. Play ball and no matter when they play Maryville still comes out with the win

I feel that Charvez Francisco is the best running back in East Tennessee if not all of Tennessee. He finished the year with 1600 yards rushing with 20 TD's. His yard per carry was 7.6 with is outstanding. I feel that he should at least be mentioned as a great back.

East is trying to build a program and you can't do that with people who are thiefs. I hope the East fans will still come out and support East. Last time I checked there are more than three people that play football anyway the three players were cancers to the team and caused alot of problems. I am glad they are gone and I hope East does well on Friday.

East will be without at least three starters on Friday night due to a problem that occured last week at Crockett. That is all I can say about that situation but the three that was kick off the team were three kids who I feel should have been gone along time ago. You can only lead kids in the right direction and then the kids make their own decisions. Two of the kids were seniors so their career is over at east and the other kids was a sophomore who has the opportunity to be a great player but seems to be a follower instead of making decisions on his own. Will hurt east on friday night but will help them in the long run. Glad to see that the coaching staff is taking a stand against kids who do not do the right things. I hope that the young kids who are coming up get the picture that this coaching staff is not going to put up with shitheads who make the coaching staff, school and team look bad so you young kids better learn from others mistakes. Who do you guys think will win this first round playoff game. I feel that these two teams are very even. East has an outstanding back in Charvez Francisco who has already rushed for over 1500 yards but if TN High tries to stack 8 or 9 people in the box then East is very capable of throwing the football with Palazolla throwing for over 1200 yards this year. The only problem I see for East in this game is that the defense for East has given up a whole lot of yards the last two weeks against Greeneville and Crockett. The defense will have its work cut out for it as TN High runs the Wing-T which is a very hard offense to stop with alot of misdirection. This game will come down to turnovers and field position. Please give your thoughts on this game.

Mangus you want to talk about how poor the officiating was on Friday how about you guys lined up in an unbalanced formation about 5 times and if you know football if you have two men on the line and one off one of the guys on the line are inelgible to go out in a route. All three receivers in the unbalanced look went out for passes which in conclusion is an inelgible receiver down the field. So don't look at something as knit picky as a lineman maybe not being up far enough maybe you should look at you guys having an inelgible receiver on a route. Good luck the rest of the season

I feel this game is going to be great no matter if Greenway plays or not. Both teams are very good and will represent Region 2 well in the playoffs. Teams are very similar on defense but I feel East may have a better offense. Greenville is a one dimensional team with most of their threats coming from the running game. East is a two headed monster with Francisco and Palazzola in the backfield. If Greenville decides to put 8 or 9 people in the box then East will throw the football to Simpson, Delapp, and Penland. I do not think Greenville's corners can cover any of these guys man to man. If Greenville decides to play alot of zone and only put 7 men in the box then Francisco will have a field day running the football. He already has about 1150 yards this year and is looking to break the all-time single season record for yards. Going to be a great game and I hope East has more fans at the game then they did on Friday against Volunteer.

CHHS72 why don't you just admit that you got beat by a better team, instead of making excuses on why you lost the game. Get some balls about yourself and step up and be a man and say that you lost to a better team. As far as the pass interference I felt that was a questionable call but you can also argue the call on East in the endzone. Bottom line is East is a better football team and I will send you tickets to see us play in the playoffs.

Do you actually think that Greenway is going to make that big of a difference. Don't get me wrong I think he is an awesome player but not worth that many points. Why are people not giving East any credit for the way they have played this year. East has played solid in all three phases of the game this year.

As for the call on #20 about stepping on the kids chest that was a bullcrap call I have seen the film and he was pushed by a Volunteer player and he tried to step over him. So unless you no the facts about the situation don't open your mouth.

yea you were really in the game. I think you guys finished with about 100 yards rushing in the Wing-T. That is a lose every time if you run that type of offense. Bottom line is East did not play real well. I think maybe they were looking ahead to a very important game with Greenville. Good game but East is just a better team. P.S. rumor has it that Volunteer has about 5 starters that will not be playing because of different reasons. If these players do not play does Volunteer have a chance to stop a good offensive football team as in East. I feel East will have its work cut out for them on defense with Volunteer running a form of the Wing-T. A complex offense with alot of misdirection is hard to defend as a defense when you are as aggressive with play calling as East's defensive co. Billy Seals is. Hope this game is a good one but I feel that East will totally dominate the line of scrimmage and do about the same thing to Volunteer as they did to Cherokee.

Who is Jarvis and how much of factor does he play on Friday nights. Could be a hugh blow to Volunteer if he is a major contributor

Good win over a average team in Cherokee. I felt east played well on both sides of the ball. Some people have been saying that the game would have been different if Chris West would have played but I still feel East would have won easily. How do you guys think East will fare the rest of the season. I hope they can win the final 3 and get a home game in the playoffs. They key to winning the final three is to keep playing great defense and continue to be balanced on offense. Francisco has already eclipsed 1000 yards rushing and Palazzola is only 20 yards short of 1000 passing. Good luck Canes
