Greenbrier defeated Goodpasture last night 12-0 in % innings to win 9-AA district. Two grand Slams by Courtney Miles. Mimi Cartwright did not pitch but unknown to this person why.

Anyone have scores /results for the Coffee County Tournament 27-28 Apr?

I just heard from a Team that the whole tournament has been canceled due to weather.

Not looking good, @ 10:50 raining and thunder in Springfield.

Might be a silly question but where is the Brentwood @ Beech softball game being held? Is the field at Beech high school? Thanks

Updated information I have is games are now scheduled for Saturday, 9-May-2009 at 2 and 4 in Portland.

Playing in Portland, I believe the times are 4 and 6 for tonight, but I don't have a player in the picture and I check with the WH and/or GB coaches for my information later in the day.

Goodpasture defeated White House 2-1 and Greenbrier defeated Station Camp 3-2. Winners bracket: Greenbrier vs Goodpasture and loosers bracket White House vs Station Camp, today maybe?

joeyt, you are so right. Springfield just made a huge deal about hiring their new Football coach, press conference, etc. They plan to keep a teacher on that doesn't teach because they will be an assistant coach. Why didn't they support the previous football coach?

I'm not an expert but I believe that the school system has to make a "good faith" effort to hire a coach as qualified as say the boys baseball coach. Remember about title IX, you don't have to get the lawyer. If you feel there is a violation, report it and the government will fight it if they feel there is violation. My feeling, from experience with this is that there are major violations all the time in our school systems.

I sent this story to my father who is a baseball umpire (young, middle/high school and adult leagues) in the Northern Virginia/Southern Maryland area and has been for 15+ years. He is a former Navy fighter pilot, takes umpiring very seriously and is part of an organization that trains and tests it's umpire yearly. They even have a winter training week in Florida. He sent back the following story. "Similar situation happened to me years ago. I??™m doing the plate at Fairfax HS, my partner ejects a player at second base but so quietly that I nor were most folks aware. This in the top of the ninth inning of an otherwise peaceful men's game. As we started the bottom my partner says the game is a forfeit (he can??™t do that) so I ask what is going on. He says the ejected player is behind the other dugout and didn??™t go to the parking lot. So ??“ not that big a deal. So partner walks off field to parking lot. I stayed (was friends with the home coach) and finished bottom of ninth, only three batters. When I got to the parking lot he was all upset at me. I told him he couldn??™t forfeit a game and he abandoned me. Some of the guys thought I should have gone with my partner and others thought I did OK. Today that guy no longer umpires. "

CoachT, My wife teaches at Springfield High School and she came home this afternoon and said that the Springfield principal announced that the Springfield game had been moved from 6:00 pm Tuesday, 3-mar to the 7:45pm slot at Hendersonville. Can you confirm this change ? Thanks

I have no idea how the selection was made but I know many times factors like travel distance and player schedules, especially graduated seniors have an impact. They may have been invited but could not make the commitment. I have photos from the A/AA finals and the Anderson County team was great. Everyone, thanks for the feed back. I'm planning to shoot photos for the local Robertson County newspaper of the A/AA game as I was told that there are three Greenbrier players participating. I did not know the sponsoring organization so I will look for information on the TACA. First time that I've been to this even.
