  1. Remind me to never disagree with jethro. He does his research.
  2. Do your really think that Douglas makes that big of a difference?
  3. Do they still put the bell in the middle of the commons so that the students can ring every time they walk past it. Usually by the middle of the week I would get so sick of hearing that bell ring. ET - Are you on your way to a free pizza party (canned food)
  4. I think that these are great predictions. The only thing I would change is Heritage and Sevier. All this talk has me ready for the season - Blount County Jamboree is only two weeks away. Can't wait.
  5. LC - Didn't they have a freshman last year that was really good? It seems that you are giving sevier county alot of respect with that the 6 spot.
  6. I remember playing Bearden last year and being amazed at their size and seems like they were 10th graders. Am I just imagining that or are the big guys juniors this year?
  7. The only way that some of the students at WB will get to college is through athletics. The best way to get to college through athletics is to have good stats. Some might say that Meadows was running the score up or maybe risking the health of his starters, but really I think he was padding the stats of some of his starters so that they may present an impressive resume to a college recruiter. If that is what takes for them to get into college I say play them to the buzzer.
  8. Starting Line-up Point guard - Brad Cochran 6'2 Guard - Micah Ballard 6'2 Guard/forward - Corey Welch 6'3 Center/forward - Seth Messer 6'5 Center/forward - Jordan ? 6'5 (transfer from Wartbug)
  9. Here I was thinking that we were talking about district 4. I must have been wrong.
  10. It seems like if Douglas does in fact need surgery on his shoulder than he would want to do it as soon as the football season was over. This way he will not miss any time next year in college.
  11. I am ready for basketball. Things are looking better for William Blount this year. They are going to have a fairly large starting line-up. I believe the shortest of the starters is Ballard who is 6'2 maybe 6'3 (if he has on some heels). I know many on the team have been working real hard during the summer (I guess you have to when the defending state champ is just across town). We got a transfer this year well no doubt make some noise. I have heard that Douglas in not going to play basketball this year for Maryville. If this is true that will be a fairly big loss for them.
  12. How are you going to say other people looked stupid? Read you post out loud to yourself and you will realize that you are the one that sounds stupid.
  13. Game night is finally here. I had some pleasant conversations with a few of the parents of WB players last night. It was parents that I would have normally guessed would have wanted to destroy Maryville, but they had a much more careless demeanor about them. Maybe careless in not the word to use, they still want to win, but I think they are finally to the understanding that it is not a region game and really will not make a huge difference in the scheme of things. I would lots rather lose to Maryville than a Farragut or a Oak Ridge, that is if we lose to anyone, which I don??™t see happening. It is going to be a great game cannot wait for kickoff. Has anybody heard anything about the administration maybe bringing in some extra bleachers to put on the other side of the field to help relieve the pressure of the huge attendance that is expected? Or maybe they could just not block off the other side of the track? I know that they have had problems with people getting in trouble in the past back on the practice field ??“ so that might not be an option ??“ all I know is it will be crowded and I going to get there early.
  14. People go to different schools for many reasons – not just sports. Yes there are people playing on the Maryville team that live in the county, but the same can be said about any school. I know of at least two very influential starters on the WB team that do not live in the county and I would say there are more that I do not know about. I have always heard people complain about Maryville “stealing” our players, but people quickly forget about the city boys that play for county schools. Just playing devils advocate.
  15. It was good to see a huge turn out for the Ooltewah fans at the game, even a few of the "refs" made the trip up 75.
  16. Cole still had a cast on his arm yesterday. Saw TJ wobbling down the hall at WB - still had boot/support/cast on his leg.
  17. come on over I know how to keep the game on the field. I have never had a bad encounter with any owl fans - I actually live with a Ooltewah alum.
  18. Having a dependable kicker in high school is huge. I think Stone is improving ??“ slowly but surely. It is not a huge section ??“ I asked the custodians (they were the taping it off) if they thought it was enough, knowing that it wasn??™t, and they said that what they were told to do. So can really argue with them. I would love to see some visitor stands at WB someday.
  19. Just got in from the stadium at WB, where I was admiring the new press box, and it seems as though there are going to be roped off sections for the owl fans. The administration made it clear to the students this morning that any inappropriate behavior by the WB students would be met with a swift exit from the game. I do not think there will be any problems. I think you have to worry more about the parents than you do the students ??“ that is a shame. I am excited about the game tonight should be a good one. I say Ben Stone has a break out game and kicks no less than three field goals. WB wins 30-14.
  20. To say that DB has no passing game is mistake.
  21. Is my hearing ok - Is it really true that Papa Chaos will be donning the orange and blue of William Blount once agian
  22. Etcoach – You are dead on with your assessment of WB. Getting the opportunity to be in contact with WB students on a daily basis, just like yourself, gives me an insider’s view of the students at WB and their mentality as it pertains to the athletics. I would say that 50 % of the students at WB don’t even know who Tyler is or what he does, much less do they want to come out for the football team. They have other things to worry about, such as, working to pay for that car that they had to purchase on their own or trying to figure what they are going to do after they graduate; for a large percentage it will not be college. But, that is OK because WB is set-up in away that provides its students with opportunities to learn a trade or get prepared for life after high school that does not include college. I say all this to say the same thing that etcoach said; just because we have 1900 students does not mean they want to be on the football team or that even care about the football team, because to them there are far more important things in life than WB football.
  23. His brother has played at Chattanooga State for the last two years. I think that he is going to UT this year and going out for their team. Maybe the most athletic of the Burstrom family is in 8th grade this year. Little sister is going to be a wonderful basketball player at William Blount next year, and I believe that she also excels as a softball player.
