Thanks... That sounds encouraging. I don't remember a kicker returning from last year's team...nobody being developed and coming up through the ranks to take over.

Anything shaking at Riverdale? Were there any changes in the coaching staff during the off season that might lead to improvements on defense and/or special teams. Who is the kicker going to be? I wasn't able to catch any of the scrimmages...did anyone establish themselves as the #1 QB. How did they look in the scrimmages.

Playing pitch and catch should be easy if you run the wing-t effectively and throw when the throw is there. Both Mt Juliet and Hendersonville were able to throw out of the wing-t. It's just got to be part of the system...ball control, great defense, and great special teams. You can't win at the highest levels just by having a killer wing-t...you gotta have all three. We'll have to see if Creasy gets it and builds that kind of team. We did get the killer wing-t at Riverdale but never close to putting the whole package together.

I think we should let this play out and let the facts come out. Regardless, there is no excuse for the kid's actions. That's just not remotely acceptable or justifiable for any reason. That said, it really feels like Riverdale's just spinning out of control and needs new leadership from the principal (maybe even higher) down to the lowest level.

Apparently transferred to Vanderbilt and will undergo surgery. Lot's of different versions of the story out there so hard to be sure what's accurate.

There was a time when the kids were supposed to respect the teachers/coaches. Now that's been turned on it's ear. Hope Coach A is OK and recovers quickly.

Man I hope we have a kicker. Did the freshmen team have a good kicker?

It'll be kinda strange...no Lavergne...and no Stewart's creek. Still no news on spring practice dates/scrimmages. Wish Aydelott would appoint an assistant or someone to provide information and promote the football program. They should have someone like that. They could call that role 'Sports Information Director' or something catchy like that. I hope they've taken time to start thinking/planning for spring practice. I wonder who the kicker will be?

When is spring practice? Scrimmages?

I think all the kids should transfer to Riverdale rather than risk the impact the new principal may have on their lives. On a more serious note, why will Watson be more successful at Blackman than he was at Siegel? What were the circumstances of his departure from Siegel...I mean was he removed or just moved on? Was there a Majors/Fulmer thing happening at Blackman? Watson seemed quick to take advantage of this unfortunate situation? Inquiring minds want to know.

Ongoing criminal investigation by the sheriff's office. That's according to the DNJ.

You think Preston Barge will be the guy? He's valuable in other roles but is a talented player. This would be an ideal spot for someone to transfer in that can run the new offense. When is spring practice...anybody know?

Will Oakland consider any minority candidates for this job?

Was booster money being used for recruiting/incentives? Any possibility that the TSSAA will eventually be involved?

That is just so huge. As soon as the kids learn that factors besides hard work and performance are driving playing time you see the roster begin to shrink and the commitment of the players wane. It's will just kill a program.

X's and O's, at least on offense, have never been Aydelott's problem. He'd be a very good offensive coordinator. Oh, he'd also make a great head coach for Oakland/Blackman if they could swing it.

Didn't Shadowens exit his last two jobs (Smyrna, MTCS) due to disagreements with the admin on how the program would be run?

Does all of this have anything to do with the team's discipline and behavior problems over the last couple years? Was their any kind of 'official' inquiry into the problems they've had. Shadowens has become a very good coach but two things would concern me if I were hiring him. 1, The discipline issues popped up too often. 2. The offense has been pretty much just 'offense by broken play' the last couple years.

Hard to imagine who they could get to take that job. Obviously, Aydelott would an awesome choice for them if the new principal could pull it off.

Pretty nice schedule...should be some great games. Riverdale needs to find a QB that can put up huge numbers since it looks like the defense will be more of the same. I think 6-4 or 7-3 is about right.

Aydelott would be a great fit at Oakland. Within 3-5 years he would have the expectations completely changed.

McDaniel is rumored to be taking the Christian Brothers job in Memphis. Should all clear up, one way or another, within the next week.
