  1. It should get really heated up today...BA and Faterh Ryan...if the rain holds off. Look forward to the contest.
  2. Yep, Riley is throwing hard! She averages about 13-14 K's per game. The new catcher, Hannah Simpson is doing a good job too!! I wish more of the girls would play travel ball on the team, but it is just Hannah & Riley.

It was a good game! Brittany H. from Ezell was able to get hold of a low ball off of Mashburn and send it over the right field fence. Shelby Mashburn later had a base hit up the middle that allowed BA's catcher Cassie Simspon to score to tie up the game 1-1. BA's defense played great! At the bottom of 7 it was still tied 1-1. In the 8th inning there were 2 outs with 2 runners on base. BA's coach had pulled in the right fielder and sure enough a long fly ball went over the right fielders head. It was too bad that BA could not answer with their bats in the bottom of the 8th. It was a good game.
  4. That is tough. It definetly happens...to a lot of teams. Sometimes it isn't always the players...it can be parents or even coaches. If team meetings are not resolving anything, than maybe someone else - outside of the team - could attempt to step in to try & cure the disease and not just treat the symptoms. It's a matter if your heart and your motives are right. Hey, if you have a great team, you really don't want to blow it with a bunch of "junk" going on. Sometimes just given a little time - things will work out. And than again, sometimes things get too dificult and they just won't. My philosophy is that there are times throughout your life when things are hard to swallow...but most of the time, you toughen up and do whats right and pray for what may follow. Hope things work out for you and your team.
  5. krissy casey for bhs really hit the ball well this tournament. good job.
  6. BA's pitcher is having to overcome the legendary Sara Meek. It is a huge block for her to have to break through. Shelby had 10 strike outs in this game and no one was able to crush the ball against her. If I recall last year, Katherine H. smashed one over the BA right fielder. That didn't happen the other day. Shelby and her catcher Cassie Simpson, worked out all winter and both girls took hitting lessons. Meek is a great pitcher! Nuff said. Mashburn can hold her own.
  7. Carly Hill pitches for Hume Fogg - she has a lot of power in her arm!

bingo. wow, only a true insider would know that one! Riley is tough, but she has a girly side. Her friend blondie (nighthawk pitcher) and travel coach gave her that a while back. Talk to Riley...see what she has to say.
  9. It was a disappointing loss for BA. BA led the entire game until the bottom of the 7th inning. Mashburn was a little tired, she had thrown five complete games over the weekend at the Beech play days, so she was a little sore. I thought she threw will though. The girls made a few mistakes, so did the coaches if I recall correctly, it was cold, but they all showed that they have lots of potential. Should be a good year. Go Eagles.
  10. I hope BA is rested after playing in the Beech tournament this past weekend and hopefully everyone won't freeze --- guess that is impossible though, I don't believe the temp. has risen out of the 30's today. Brrr.
  11. If the coach thinks that it is for the good of the team, well you gotta do what they want. But, with so many games to be played during the regular season, it seems it would really wear the pitcher down. If you are the main pitcher, you need a little rest from the mound during school practices. Face it between weekly pitching lessons and working out on your own time to focus on the pitches that need working on --- the last thing you need is to add extra work during season that will ultimately wear you down. Just my opinion.
  12. Most pitchers are able to play other positions as well. For most teams, if the pitcher is sitting the bench when she isn't pitching, it is a waste of good talent. The risk of getting hurt, is always there...for everyone! Your team should play to win every game and use as many of your players that you can. Pitching is so much fun, but so is playing 1st base or 2nd or outfield! I just want to play!!
  13. You are right about Riley being a good pitcher. She dominates in her age. She threw 58 mph as a 12 year old last fall at Club K...she could be faster now. I heard that she may change schools though. I think her dad would like to see and her sister Shelby, who is also a pretty good pitcher, play together. Who knows.
  14. I think BA will surprise a few people. True they are young, they lost their senior Sarah Meek so no one is expecting much. But they have several competitive girls.
  15. no, way too much going on with other sports, spring is good!!
