  1. The Longhorn D will need to play very disciplined against the 'Canes this week because the East offense has not been held to less than 20 points all season long. Likewise, the Longhorn offense will need to score more than their average of 25 ppg to give themselves a realistic chance to moving on to the 2nd round.
  2. Spreading the field is an understatement. I read where they used 6 wide-outs against Elizabethton a few weeks back.
  3. I was among the few there, too. In the 1st half, Boone had the ball at or inside East's 20-yard line 3 or 4 times and came away with zero points. Seemed to really demoralize the Blazers before halftime. They'll have to do better than that up at South.
  4. I assumed this year since Volunteer made the playoffs. 'True' 4A schools are those actually classified as 4A as opposed to 3A schools playing up at the 4A level. Congrats again to the Falcons and good luck next week against South or TN!
  5. Thx for the info. Good luck, 'Canes.
  6. OK, I'm not a Falcon fan but let's look at this past season. Volunteer had a better record against true class 4A opponents than North (Vol 5-3, North 4-3), a better record, if you want to call it that, against true class 3A opponents than North (Vol 0-2, North 0-3), total points scored and allowed were pretty much even (Vol 180-245, North 170-246) and the overall record is close (Vol 5-5, North 4-6). Looks to me like Volunteer is on even a even par with North.
  7. Who will fill in the remaining slots? (3rd slot region 1) loser of Elizabethton/Johnson Co at (2nd slot region 2) winner of Daniel Boone/Morristown East (4th slot region 2) Daniel Boone or Volunteer at (1st slot region 1) Sullivan South (3rd slot region 3) loser of Daniel Boone/Morristown East or Volunteer at (2nd slot region 1) Tennessee High (4th slot region 1) loser of Elizabethton/Johnson County or Unicoi County at (1st slot region 2) Morristown West
  8. Agreed. What a way to turn around a season! Congrats to the players, coaches, parents and fans.
  9. Vikings win pretty handily in this one and will await the winner of Boone/Mo-East or Cherokee/Volunteer.
  10. Good point about the 2nd string and it begs the question of how far does South have to be ahead before the starters are brought out to avoid possible injuries considering the playoffs begin next week?
  11. That will help. The Weather Service is currently predicting 100% chance of rain, sometinmes heavy, throughout the day and on into the evening hours. Good luck 'Canes. This Trojan fan is pulling for you all the way.
  12. Quite simply, it doesn't matter. This thread is done. Let's move on.
  13. First question...Eliz (3-3) is at Johnson Co. (4-2); East (2-4) is at South (6-0); North (2-4) is at Tenn. (5-1); and Unicoi (2-4) is at Central (0-6). I don't think East and North can win so they're out at 2-5 BUT...if Elizabethton loses and Unicoi wins then Johnson County takes 3rd slot and Unicoi takes 4th b/c of their victory over Elizabethton back on the 29th. If Elizabethton wins, then Unicoi is out. Whoever takes the 4th slot in region 1 will travel to Mo-West. 2nd and 3rd question...The 4th slot from region 2 is still up for grabs between Cherokee (3-3, at Volunteer also 3-3), Boone (4-2, at Mo-East 5-1), and Volunteer. South will host whoever ends up in this slot.
  14. Good point as to a wet/muddy field. I would think that this would really reduce the 'Canes speed advantage especially when trying to cut quickly to go inside or out. But those closer to the Hurricanes' program can give a better opinion on that than I can.
  15. You are right. I stand corrected and hopefully so is my logic this time around. South is first and Tennessee High is 2nd. If Elizabethton wins then Elizabethton is 3rd and Johnson County is 4th. If Johnson County wins Johnson County is 3rd and: 1. Sullivan North is 4th if Sullivan North and Unicoi County win; or 2. Elizabethton is 4th if Unicoi County loses; or 3. Sullivan East is 4th if Sullivan East and Unicoi County win while Sullivan North loses; or 4. Unicoi County is 4th if Unicoi County wins while Sullivan East and Sullivan North lose.
  16. Hopefully, my math is right on this: regardless of what happens in week 10, South will be 1st, Tennessee High 2nd, and Johnson County 3rd. Elizabethton will be 4th if... 1. if Elizabethton wins; or 2. if East, Elizabethton, and Unicoi lose and North wins; or 3. if Elizabethton, Unicoi, North lose and East wins; or 4. East, Elizabethton, North, and Unicoi all lose; else 5. if Elizabethton loses and East, North, and Unicoi win then North will be 4th; else 6. if Elizabethton and North lose and East and Unicoi win then East will be 4th; else 7. Unicoi will be 4th if either (i) East and Elizabethton lose and Unicoi and North win or (ii) East, Elizabethton, and North lose and Unicoi wins
  17. Regardless, Morristown West will be the #1 seed from 4A region 2 in the playoffs. If Cherokee and East win, then East is 2nd, Boone, is 3rd, and Cherokee is 4th; If Cherokee and Boone win, then Boone is 2nd, East is 3rd, and Cherokee is 4th; If East and Volunteer win, then East is 2nd, Volunteer is 3rd and Boone is 4th; and If Boone and Volunteer win, then Boone is 2nd, East is 3rd and Volunteer is 4th Good luck to all.
  18. Only question marks that I can see may be Boone (depending on the seriousness of the all of the injuries they sustained last week) and Volunteer and Sullivan East (these will probably be as close as predicted).
  19. Then again, I wouldn't bet the house that they won't. Forget Mur'vile for now, it's time to start counting down the next 100 wins for Coach Woods! ROLL TROJANS
  20. Some useless stats ..... Johnson County - 7-1, 4-1 avg 28.4 ppg offense and 13.4 allowed ppg Tennessee - 6-2, 4-1 avg 27.4 ppg offense and 12.8 allowed ppg common opponents: Unicoi Co. - JC 49-21; TN 55-0 South - JC 10-14; TN 18-28 East - JC 14-0; TN 21-2 Central - JC 38-14; TN 28-7 out-of-conference records/results Johnson County - opponents records 14-9 (.608) JC 17 Hampton 14 (class 1A, 7-1 overall) JC 37 CAK 24 (class 2A, 4-3 overall) JC 35 happy valley 0 (class 2A, 305 overall) Tennessee High - opponents records 18-6 (.750) TN 34 VA High 6 (overall 5-3) TN 7 D-B 41 (class 5A, 8-0 overall) TN 21 Science Hill (class 5A, 5-3 overall) -------------------- This will be one of the better games in NE Tennessee tonight and will solidify the winner's claim to 2nd slot in region 1 and a first round home game against Boone, Cherokee, or Volunteer (long shot). Both teams on paper appear to be very even but in looking at their out-of-conference opponents, TN looks to have played the tougher non-conference schedule which I think will benefit them in this game. I think the Vikings win by a TD.
  21. I disagree. I don't think G'ville has the personnel to stop East this year. Only an excessive number of turnovers and/or penalties or some sort of natural disaster could derail the 'Canes Friday night. Just my opinion.
  22. I think that win is not only possible but probable as well. Good luck, Falcons. I hope you'all can make it.
  23. Agreed. East is probably playing as well as anyone right now in the 5 Rivers conference and they will be 2nd seed which means they will be slotted in the upper bracket along with South. Mo-East at South would be a great 2nd round game to watch.
