  1. Both played and Amauri played alot. According to the box score he had 11 carries for 47 yards. I also noticed he was back deep on every kick off return. I have no idea how healthy he was, but he did LOOK alright and played alot. http://www.unapproved website.com/m/career/default.aspx?careerid=af2ad2b3-c16c-e711-93f8-ecf4bbe7be14
  2. It was 26-0 three minutes into the third quarter and SH immediately went into the mode of periodically resting certain starters. Does that count? Burks played by the way. He didn't LOOK hampered in anyway. Fairly impressive player. Far from the best one on the field Friday night. But there is nothing to be ashamed in that though.
  3. Agreed. Hard to argue with anything you said here. Good luck the rest away. It looks like Giles County is back for a while now.
  4. Wow... Just like I suspected, you did not watch the highlight tape. "He is fast but if there is no hole there he cannot do nothing"? Wow... I thought someone said he doesn't follow his blocks and can't read the field. So, which is it?.. If there isn't a hole all he does is run through tackles or reverse the field. The Giles County back is a good back, for high school, with decent size. But, if he can't have a run of more than 15 yards against a high school defense, along with having a good O-line, then elite he is not. I'm not knocking the kid, at all. I'm just saying what I think is hard to argue.
  5. Did he move or does he still live in Northeast Alabama?
  6. Strut into the endzone? Which of his three touchdowns was it on? Bettet yet, we'll just wait for the highlight tape from lastnight... Meet up again? You understand the bracket and realize that it would now be all but guaranteed to be in Pulaski, right? Just don't mess around and lose to Page so y'all would meet Marshall County in the second round. We know how that one would end up...
  7. Here are the mid season highlights for Smith. Remember this doesn't even include the 250 he put up last night while being well under 100 percent. Get the popcorn too... http://www.hudl.com/video/3/4027421/57e1d989ed57ee3b18ffabeb
  8. I never said that Smith was just fast. Speed isn't even his bet attribute. He is the strongest player on the team and if you want to talk about following blocks and breaking tackles then watch his highlights from this year. Better yet, just ask your fine human being of a head coach, off the record, and see who he'd rather have. It's not like they're running him and wearing him out. He is averaging TEN yards per carry.
  9. The push off that the Giles County wr got away with on their last TD was absolutely laughable.
  10. I'll put it as nice as possible here. #5 is good and bigger than Smith, but if you think they're even in the same class I have to say you/y'all are clueless. Smith was not 100 percent tonight and still had over 250 yards and 3 tds. Two of the td's were over 50 yard runs. That gives him over 1000 for the year through six games. He's also averaging around 10 ypc... All he does is run through and around people and considering he's doing it at under 5'10, 180, or so, I'd say that's pretty incredible. The Giles County back is good and decent size, but not in the same class as Smith. Try again...
  11. So, I was correct. Thanks, for confirming my original point in that the priorities are a just a little off in Giles County/Pulaski. Note: The research was a 5 minute Google search late Saturday night, while watching Alabama lay a huge egg in the middle of Bryant-Denny Stadium. Everyone else in the house was asleep and it was a fairly easy search. Feel free to do it yourself and maybe even correct my findings. Besides, I couldn't care less whether it was the city OR county that paid for it. My main point was a city AND/OR county government raising taxes in order to renovate a high school football stadium for over 2 million dollars. Like I said two days ago. A new, more than adequate stadium, on a new site, could've been built for 1/4 that amount.
  12. Correct, but I did some research. Based on what I found, city AND county funds were used in the renovation/construction? Is this not correct?
  13. Yes, actually. I would love for my community to have something that nice. But, only if my county/city had a surplus of money to make it happen. Going about it the way Giles County did is simply irresponsible. Especially for a county in their condition.
  14. Bingo... All you need to know about how screwed up the priorities are in Giles County is to take a look at the ridiculousness that is the football stadium at Sam Davis Park. The powers that be jammed a 2 million plus stadium down the throats of the county citizens. Then raised taxes to pay for it. Don't get me wrong. The old stadium had to be replaced. But to spend 4-5 times what it would be to construct a functional, new stadium, on a new site, is assinine. They claimed "history" and trying to preserve "The Brickyard" as reasons. Simply ridiculous. The site sits so far down in a "hole" to where it isn't visible unless you are looking for it. Also, the access roads are bad. The pressbox is oversized to where most of it is wasted space, but yet you would think they were hosting dozens of national media and T.V. crews weekly. Just looking at the proportion of it to the home stands tells you all you need to know about how comically big the thing is. Don't get me wrong. It's a nice stadium, but it better be considering the 2.5 million price tag. The county did all of this knowing how bad of a condition some of the existing school buildings are in, and knowing the bad economics the area has struggled with for years. Not to even mention just how poorly the school system rates statewide. So, considering just this one example of irrational decision making, does SOME of the opinions that roll out of the mouths of SOME of the people from Giles County really suprise you? It probably shouldn't...
  15. I think it could be positive, but only marginally, if everything else isn't up to par. Schools in Maury County will only pull and attract kids to them when they get the overall school performance in better shape. That might never happen, and if it does, is decades away with the natural migration south out of Nashville. For the time being, most of the projected growth is all in the northern part of Maury County(mostly Spring Hill and northern Columbia) due to the natural migration I mentioned. It is widely accepted, other than the Columbia people that don't want to hear it, that Spring Hill is going to continue to grow and Spring Hill High School will either need lots of addition in the near future or a second high school will be needed northeast of Columbia. What does Maury County do in the mean time? They copy Franklin (like everything else) and do a scaled down version of what Williamson County did with the Franklin High School rebuild on the existing site. It is a mess and rebuilding on existing site was definitely not necessary. On a new site, they could've had an ALL new building with ALL new athletic facilities and still saved MILLIONS of dollars. Instead they get a partially new building with no new OUTDOOR athletic facilities and needlessly spend millions of dollars. Don't tell this to any Columbia supporters or they'll flick their finger at you like you have no idea what you're talking about. This is nothing new for Columbia and Maury County. They'll eventually give in when northern Maury County/Spring Hill is much bigger than Columbia and most of the political money comes from there. Some know that this is coming and that is part of the problem. Again, a new building was needed at Columbia, but NOT the way it is being done.
  16. I agree with most of what you're saying, but Summit did not play 6A ball in their first two years of play, in 2011, 12. They were in District 12-AA those two years and would've been 4-A in the playoffs. They did play with all freshman and sophomores, which is a Williamson County policy for upstart schools, but they did NOT play 6-A those two years. But, yes they look greatly improved from last year. That type of running game, when executed right, could give some people fits this year
  17. You do realize that, with that schedule they were forced to put together, 5-5 would be anything but dismal, right? This outcome would also put them right where they want to be and in the playoffs again. By the way, alot of coaches out there must have thought that they had a chance to do something good this year because virtually no similar sized schools, in the area, wanted to schedule an out of region game with them. Columbia, who they had played fourteen straight years, backed out on Spring Hill. Spring Hill, who only beat Columbia once over that span in 2003, scheduled Columbia repeatedly over last decade knowing they had little chance of beating them. The roles, for once, reversed and Columbia pulls a quick one right before the schedule was finalized last winter. This forced Spring Hill to scramble on what was already a difficult schedule to put together. Again, hardly ANYONE in the area wanted to schedule Spring Hill out of region. Based on what I heard, it was ridiculous.
  18. Uh, wouldn't this be said about any good quarterback when taking away their best attribute? A good quarterback's stats, even at the highest level and when considering passing stats, would account for 50% or more of a teams total offense... Try again... Oden is very good. Though if you think they're one dimensional, then you haven't seen this team in the preseason, last week, or most of last year. Most people don't even realize that Oden missed two full games last year and still managed to score 60+ points in those two wins. Granted, neither one of those games were against a team the quality of McGavock.
  19. The bigger question could be is if there is the smallest of chance of rain on Friday, will Coffee County still play?
  20. Any idea if someone is providing a video or audio broadcast of the tournament anywhere online? I've looked all over and can't find anything like they did for a few years through ihigh.com.

    12AA 2013

Genius, a Spring Hill parent was thrown out FIRST. I was directly beside of the incident... Andy by the way, BOTH sides seem to have parents/relatives who are absolutely horrible examples to kids who are at the games.
  22. I tend to, like you, agree with what the Columbia Principal was saying in the interview you're referring to. It must be noted that, rightly or wrongly (because I have very little knowledge of the details), that the Columbia Principal was not retained after this past school year was over. He was in the position for two years and when you saw that interview during the championship game he had yet to finish his first semester on the job at Columbia and probably had very little to do with any success of the football program since that staff had been in place for a while when he arrived... Again, I agree with his statement and am not advocating or disagreeing with him not retaining his job and it also worth noting that I heard alot of the students really liked him as their principal. I just thought those facts should he noted since you brought up that school and their situation.
