I was looking at the best wrestlers thread and saw that someone said simpson would have beat Keller. I thought this could be a thread by itself. So what do you guys think? Keller or Simpson?

Hey everybody...Just wondering what you guys think of Coach Brands and his chances on turning the UTC team around. How long do you think it will take him to make UTC a top 25 program or will he do it at all?

How long are you guys going to spend on this? It seems like you have said enough for the rest of us. I thought this was contraversial calls in the state tournament, not differences in heavyweight style compared to the lower weights. bearlock

I think stalling is a pretty easy call.

well smokediver, we aren't talking about staying in the middle of the mat. I am talking about a line call as you put it. When is the last time you saw a wrestling match that both guys stayed in the niddle of the mat the whole match, no one went out of bounds and every takedown was made on the inner circle?

Factoring in dedication to their sport and to their wrestlers Coach Logsdon does that and so much more. HBK, Maybe you should spend a week with him and see what everyone in Cleveland can see. He is an inspiration to everyone around him (wrestlers or not). I can't say that people may not love it more than he does but when you see the effort and time he puts into his preparation then your eyes might open a little bit. I am not knocking any other coaches. There are alot of guys that do a good job. Coach of the year has nothing to do with past years, if so it would be Coach of the years. Anyway, this isnt an argument. It is an award. I think Coach Logsdon deserves it. Bearlock

But isn't there equality in wrestling too? Shouldn't a guy get that chance? Cant you give a heavy a chance to make that slick move? Even if the first five minutes were sloppy, he might pull out something slick at the end. That could cost a guy a match, or in the bradley heavy's a state medal.

Is that right? I thought i read that a tennessee girls basketball game ended 7-4.

I have seen many heavyweight matches where the whistle blows before the guys go out of bounds. I understand that they are bigger and have alot of momentum, but that doesn't mean that one of them won't be slick and drag his feet on a takedown that is going out of bounds. It seems as though some refs blow the whistle just because they are headed that way. Any refs out there have an answer?

I agree that Isom, Dyer, and Thompson were all good wrestlers. They had really tough weight classes. I know thompson went to play baseball in college..what ever happened to paul and thomas?

I guess locking in the crotch can be stalling when that is the only thing you know how to do. I never said it was stalling anyway. That is good defense but it is far from offensive...hmm, maybe that is why he got called for stalling. Maybe if he was trying to get around him and score points but he wasnt. And when you lock like that as many times as he did it is as obvious as a pin would be. Did anyone else see that match?

The ref didnt take the match out of anybody's hands. Guthrie locked in the crotch all match long...He was backing up with three seconds left and got hit for stalling!!!!! Yes stalling in that match was flagrant. If you had watched Guthrie his whole career you would see that is how he wrestled, he rarely moved forward. He almost always waited for the other guy to do something. I agree that a good defense is a part of wrestling but you have to have offense too! Guthrie showed me no offense that match..or most of his career....Whether it is the last three seconds or fifteen seconds, it is a part of the match... Until the last whistle blows, the match is not over. If you pin somebody with three seconds left, Is it still a pin or did the ref blow a call? It is still a pin!!! Sorry aslaymer

whatever....Guthrie stalled the whole match!!! He was backing up when he got hit for stalling. What about Jake Parrish getting ripped in their 152 semi finals in 97'? He had Goatee in a spladle...He received no pin, He received no back points...But I dont blame the ref although, The ref didnt even look for shoulders touching the mat.

I agree sly....Josh Light was one or the hardest workers I have ever been around. Jake Parrish.. shoulda woulda coulda . Ben was an animal too. He was so mean...I never got to wrestle with Breck or Lee but if you say it then I will agree.
