  1. I sing praises to the Bears in the next football season. The team returns nearly every skill player on the field. Then for those that did depart, there are players ready to step up. Freshman city champs of 2 years ago and last years runners-up will make this squad the most formidable in the region.
  2. Didn't they use to have a wrestling team?
  3. Two words: Lamarcus Coker
  4. Some of these postivgs are outrageous for these so-called "grown" men. Whoever gets thew job, be happy. It will most definitely boost the competitin if Smith could pull off at Stratford what he did at Ezell. Then what would Metro coaches have to complain about? Problem is, Metro teams are not competing at the level of other teams. In order for this to happen, the bar must be raised and everyone must jump. There is only one Metro coach who can say that he has been to the promised land of high school football. Stiffen the competition, lets see who will respond.
  5. Nolan Richardson and Quincy Douglas-Antioch. If the coach lets them play, they are the most effective 1-2 punch in the state.
  6. The only Metro-Nashville high school to win two football state championships boasts the talents of Santonio Beard and John Henderson. These two guys will both soon be in the NFL. But the greatest football player to come through the school would probably an unknown player off the championship teams, or two players befor the glory years. In 1994, the Firebirds graduated probably the best unknown FB in the state in Terry Steverson. He started his 10th grade year and blocked for probably the best unknown back in the state, Sam Grizzard. It was sad that neither one of these guys went to college to further their careers. Also, Kenneth Gates of the two time champs was the leader and glue of the team, Not John Henderson. Also at QB, Gary Hicks was an awesome player who never got a shot at college.
  7. Brentwood barely beat Antioch when they met earlier in the season. Antioch did not play they're A game. If they do meet on Wed. Brentwood will go down, because the Lady Bears are hungry and angry after their district loss. All it takes is for that one loss to put a winning streak together. Watch out everyone.
  8. Antioch's talented sophmore is by far the best in the state. I have not seen a defender who could actually shut her down. She is a big guard at around 5'9". She can shoot the 3, take it to the basket, break down the press, rebound, take you off the dribble, post up, you get the gist. There are probably not to many people who would want to play against her. Antioch was 1-21 before she arrived. The next season they won 20 games and the district tournament.

    Metro Football

Good picks answerking, you hit the coaches right on the head. Now with the Stratford position open, who will get that. I saw Broome at the District 12 basketball finals, was he dressed for an interview, because I rarely see him dressed up. I also saw Bodenhamer dressed up as well, did he interview for the position, because he is rarely dressed up either. Between the two, who would be the best pick: Broome with the so-so record, or Bodenhamer with the proven winning track record.
  10. I have to put my vote in for Coach fitzgerald as well. I had the good fortune of playing under him in high school. He is a motivator and a winner. Plus he has two championships more than any other head Metro coach.

A few questions: 1)Who will be the best F-ball team in Metro 2)Who will have the best freshman team 3)Who will be the best QB,RB,WR,LB,DB,OL,DL in Metro nest season. My reply to the best team will have to be Hillsboro and Antioch. These schools have plenty of talent, can the coaches get it done. Best freshman team is Antioch, athletes keep coming thru. Haven't seen who will be Qb's this year RB is Lamarcus Coker-Antioch "Fridge" Bryant-Hillsboro WR-???? LB-Josh Neal-Pearl-Cohn OL-??? DL-???? Help me out with some of these blank categories

    Region 6 Finals

The referee is to do his job. No matter who is on the mat. Like I said before, he gets paid to be a referee, not a spectator, concentrate on your job, and get results later. He knew of the situation when the tournament began, don't hurt someone else's chances for your own selfishness.
  15. YES, the win over Antioch was a big upset. This is a pretty good team with #10 playing. she is the key to the team. When she was out, Antioch probably wold have stolen the game. If Antioch plays there "A" game in tbe regions watch out everyone, if they play their "C" game, like they did against Hunters Lane they may exit early.
  16. Since when has Maplewood had a good freshman team. The elite freshman squads in Metro are Hunters Lane and Antioch. We will see who will be playing in the championship game. These two teams have been in the last two, with both splitting, the tiebreaker comes this year, get ready Coach B.

    Creatine

For anyone who thinks this stuff is good for you, you might as well smoke an 8 ball of crack. The best way to get stronger is to have a healthy diet, and bust your butt in the weight room. Taking supplements is in essence cheating. Cheating your body and mind. Athletes dont come from supplements, they come from dedication.
  18. I can't believe no one has mentioned Lamarcus Coker of Antioch. He is the returning rushing leader in Metro and is only a junior. Rushed for over 1000 yds last season behind a makeshift front line. This year that line is older, more seasoned, and hungry. Opponents better hope he doesnt average rushing for 200 ypg.

    best in 160

excellent tournament for Driggers. he had an outstanding year before the injury. Didn't know who he was until he "annihilated" Johnson of Antionch at the state tournament
  20. Quincy Douglas of Antioch is by far th most underrated player in the state. If this team wins 7 more games he is big talk in the state.
  21. Watch for the Antioch Bears in 03. Strong nucleus and great position players, can sneak up on a lot of teams.
  22. Don't leave out that Jeremiah kid from Hunter's Lane. Although he played freshman ball, he could have started for their varsity at QB, RB, WR, DB,you name it. Also look at Antioch's freshman RB Preston Brown. If not for Lamarcus Coker, this kid would be a starter. Listen for these names in the future.

    Region 6 Finals

Though the officiating wasn't too bad, some of these referees need to get their head out of thir rear ends and officiate nonpartisan. There were several occasions during the tournament where matches were held up because an official wanted to watch his son in a match. Albeit his son is a pretty good wrestler, don't detract from another athlete. If he wanted to watch his son, do like the Vanderloop's father and sit in the stands and make too much noise. Otherwise, he needs to do what he is being paid for and be an official. Not a coach and all the other stuff he does.
