  1. $1 donation to park? I've been to every WC home game since the school opened and have NEVER had anyone ask for a donation -- this is the first I've heard -- although those NAVY ROTC kids are out there week in and week out and probably deserve the buck! Yes, the new parking lot is open and it is quite a haul to the field but the concession stand is good, the fans are generally friendly and it seems like everyone has a good time (win or lose). Stop by the concession stand this week and say "hey" to the volleyball team
  2. Wilson Central traveled to Beech last night and came away with another win. JV WC over Beech 2-0 25-13, 25-8 Wilson Central's JV continues to be undefeated in the district 6-0 and will (most likely) host the 9AAA JV tournament on October 7 Varsity WC over Beech 3-0 25-15, 25-13, 25-15 District record 6-1 with our only loss coming from Lavergne
  3. Or "lift" the articles from other area papers. The Lebanon Democrat reports on HS volleyball EVERY DAY if there is a match the night before...I have the clippings to prove it...and they've done it at least since 1999 when my oldest started playing in HS. I'm sure they could pay the small town papers a pittance to reprint the articles. Most nights it's more of a stats report but when 2 Wilson County schools play against each other there is a really nice article about the match complete with pictures.
  4. JV game starts at 5 Varsity starts at 6
  5. Rolled her ankle during warm-ups for the Gallatin match the night before. Nothing serious but a sprain that she needs to let heal. I'm sure she'll be back, raring to go, next week
  6. Well I would agree about Mallory. The middle who replaced her is a sophomore and has stepped up from JV. She's just not aggressive enough or experienced enough to play balls hit that hard Thanks for the kind words about my daughter. She's making strides considering her freshman status.
  7. LaVergne came in and dominated the court tonight. Stacy Oladini was awesome and WC just couldn't control her. LaVergne 3-0 25-18, 25-8, 25-16 in JV; Wilson Central 2-1 16-25, 25-18, 15-5 It's always nice to catch up with bdvols even if his team did win
  8. Gallatin came to the home of the Lady Wildcats tonight. JV WC over Gallatin 2-0 25-20, 25-10 Varsity WC over Gallatin 3-0 25-19 25-22 (after overcoming a very slow start) 25-9 Wilson Central is undefeated in District 9AAA and meet up with LaVergne --also undefeated in 9AAA-- tomorrow night.
  9. LOL! Actually, we did. Both he and the AD spent a considerable amount of time partaking in our feast We've come to terms with not being able to fundraise using the concession stand and the parents appreciate the opportunity to actually watch the matches as the hospitality room is a classroom with a door that opens to the track above the gym floor. We don't mind the cooking, it becomes a very social activity for us. I feel kind of bad for the parents in the concession stand though...they looked mighty bored.
  10. The Fine Arts Dept did the concession stand just as I expected, complete with Popcorn, Nachos and Candy -- and not much else. Most of the teams ran up Hwy 109 to Wendy's, McDonald's or Sonic. Our hospitality room fed the coaches, refs and our team. It was pretty wonderful with a taco bar on Friday night and whole grilled Chicken breasts, roast beef, ham, etc. on Saturday and a wonderful breakfast spread.. Some of the refs and coaches said they like to come to our tournament just for the food Crowds were light in my opinion. Of course, the big Ezell Harding tournament was also that weekend but the WC/Lebanon match had lots of interest -- of course. I think next year will be different as we will have the construction of an auxilliary gym (also known as the volleyball gym) completed and will be able to have one (maybe 2?) more courts and can host 12 teams instead of 8. Our biggest issue right now is what to do with all the extra t-shirts we ordered. We were expecting the other team (and the ensuing sales) so we have quite a few left over. I'm thinking EBAY
  11. Thanks, I'm glad you heard it was well-run. We had a major glitch on Friday night when Trousdale county didn't show up and we had to re-work the schedule. We didn't win, but we had fun AND, I'm glad we only do one a year!
  12. Sorry, I was so wiped out after working the tournament this weekend that I forgot all about posting the results! Saturday Wilson Central over Station Camp to move to gold semi finals. Oakland over FRA to move into gold semi finals Wilson Central over MJCA to move into Gold Finals Lebanon over Oakland to move into Gold Finals Lebanon over Wilson Central to win the tournament Hendersonville over FRA (in 3 games) in the Silver bracket to win Silver Division Lebanon went undefeated and goes into this week with a record of 17-2. Wilson Central continues district play this week with matches against Gallatin (9/11), LaVergne (9/12) and Beech (9/14).
  13. The Lady Wildcats Tournament began this evening. Originally scheduled for 8 teams, Trousdale County did not show up due to some miscommunication, the 7 remaining teams battled it out. Wilson Central over Oakland 25-20, 25-21 Wilson Central over FRA 25-20, 25-19 Oakland over Station Camp 25-13, 25-11 Lebanon over MJCA 25-20, 25-20 Lebanon over Hendersonville 25-17, 25-18 MJCA over Hendersonville 25-22, 25-13 Tomorrow morning WC will face Station Camp and Oakland will face FRA at 10:00 a.m.
  14. I believe that TSSAA rules have changed and teams can only participate in 3 tournaments (each counting as 3 matches) per season now (someone please tell me if I'm wrong!) it equates to losing about 10 matches per season so teams are having to choose their weekend tournaments and non-district matches carefully. I'm sure I've messed up the numbers but I do know we've lost 10 matches this year!
  15. Sorry, all I could get was that Hendersonville won in 3 -- or so the person I asked "thought". I was late arriving and afterward no one from H'ville was much in the mood to talk* *see the following.... Wilson Central visited Hendersonville tonight for a District 9AAA match. WC JV won in 2 25-8, 25-8 WC Varsity won in 3 25-19, 25-14, 25-11 Wilson Central will be hosting a tournament this weekend beginning at 5pm and continuing through Saturday afternoon.
  16. JV @ 5:00 Varsity @ 6:00 Always a good match with Serbins coaching both sides of the net.
  17. Mount Juliet came to house of the wildcats tonight and got MAULED. WCHS JV in 2 25-11, 25-11 WCHS Varsity in 3 25-18, 25-11, 25-20 I guess MJ decided to play the 3rd game because Wilson Central had to come from behind 12-19 to win. A very intense match and some good volleyball in Wilson County tonight.
  18. Mt Juliet will visit Wilson Central today for at 9AAA District match. JV will play at 5:00 Varsity will follow at 6:00
  19. You are always welcome to join me in the stands. Funny how he figured out I am a better spectator than a player -- shows that my lack of athletic prowess is known far and wide! It's proof to the fact that those who can do and those who can't CHEER!
  20. WC travel across the metropolis of Mt Juliet to the house of Mt Juliet Christian Academy. WC JV won in 2 WC varsity won 3-1 25-8, 25-18, 23-25, 25-17 Next match at home against district (and hometown) rival Mt Juliet.
