Here we are, on the brink of yet another big game for this DB TEAM. I got thinking when this team started to click. Oh, we had potential from the get go. I expected to win the conference and run over everyone in the District and Region Tournaments. But, after 9 games DB was 6-3 and had lost 2 of there last 3 games. Azmar Blye could not find his shot up till that point, but on the trip to Jeff Co, he found it... in the Van on the ride down the interstate. That was the 1st critical moment for the Indian Team. Blye got hot. He is the heart and soul of this team and without Azmar, we had a bunch of good players that had not jelled or learned how to play. Later in the season, Azmar drains a half court shot to beat Greeneville on the road. We had something right then. Later in the season, Jarrod Woooootten tipped in a miss at the buzzer to beat Tn High on the road. We knew we had something then, a game where we did not play great, the refs were on Dale Burns payroll and we still got the W. Blow out SH in the Dome. We ready. Blow out Greenville in the Dome. We ready. Run the table in the District, Region and Sub-State. WE READY. Azmar is a great Basketball Player. So is Henry Hawk Williams. So is Seth Jervis. So is Jarrod Woooooootten. So is Thomas Harrison. So is Lamon Williams. So is Joey Blackwell. And Coach Charlie Morgan is a GREAT BASKETBALL COACH. The Rest of the Indians make this a GREAT BASKETBALL TEAM. Well Opp, have a nice trip. West of the Miss. is another world to us in the Eastern Time Zone. I am glad I got you guys to expand your Net Surfing'. It was Detroit that is 560 mi. (just 67 further than Memphis), not Chicago, my mistake. So instead of catching the Cubs in Wrigley, you could, for just 67 more miles... Watch the Tigers play in their new stadium, or the Lions or the Pistons.That would be a good trip, worth taking.I guess what all that comes too is.... Memphis is a long dang way from Kingsport. You can have your hotbed of hoops, your big city living. For me, I love it here in the mountains, it's a little slower pace and for the most part, everybody is good people. And for you Greeneville fans that thinks Kingsport stinks so much....The City of Kingsport had a particularly ODD Odor on a certain night back in Feb. It was the 5th, and that smell was in the Buck Van Huss Dome as your Green Devils STUNK UP the place, 56-44, and that was way closer than the game really was. Anybody know why there is such a rush to play the Sub State Games, before the sweat is dry from the Region Tournament, and then wait 10 days for the State Tournament to start?? It seems like we could have held the Sub State games until this Friday Night.... I expect the crowds would have been bigger than a Monday night School night crowd. DB won their sub state game, so it's ok with me how they did it, but it still does not make alot of since. Wondering if White Station is playing in any "bigtime" tournaments between now and Murf? They got time to get a NYC trip in, or Las Vegas, Atlanta. Maybe they could play some "tough" teams before they have to lower their standards and play TN AAA competition. And how big (enrollment) a school is WS? Is it located "Inner City" Memphis, or on the outskirts? DB has had 2 days rest, practice resumes on Thursday. C MO will be setting the stage for a Murf. trip. Pound the Rock dow low Injin's and bang the 3 ball. That and TEAM Defense could win this game for the Tribe. 7 Out

#22 is Bradley Blair. He is very good. When everybody is focused on Malone, Blair kills ya. He is good enough to be THE star player on most teams, and he may be on Greeneville's. How about that lowly Region 1 has 2 teams in the final 8. Chop Chop!!

INDIANS WIN! INDIANS WIN! INDIANS WIN!! ROLL TRIBE ROLL.....TO MURF!! D-B 75 BEARDEN 62 D-B WINS SUBSTATE GAME IN THE BUCK VAL HUSS DOME AND THE TRIBE IS GOING BACK TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT!! Great TEAM win toinght over a good Bearden team. The Indians got off to a quick 17-7 lead late in the 1st qtr., only to see Bearden get it back to 17-14. DB35-27 @ the half. The Indians were led by Jarrod Wootten in the 1st half. With the score 22-17, JWOO had 11 of the Indians 22, he finished with 11. Foul trouble limited his play in the 2nd half and Lamon Williams wore it slap out!! I don't know how many pts he had 16-18 and a bunch of Rebounds. Lamon is just unstoppable, the future is Lamon and Co. (NEXT YEAR). But DB is still playing THIS YEAR!! It was a good game, 57-51 late in the 3rd. DB just got a few straight buckets and big boards and Bearden had no choice but to foul. DB Wins going away. Azmar played well, his best game since his knee injury @ Crockett. Henry Williams steady as always in big games. Thomas Harrison has just been playing fantastic through the Tournament's. He had some big pts., rebounds and blocked shots. Seth was the favorite target of "one crappy ref" who will remain nameless!!! Not good Ref!! The same ref called charge after charge on the Indains (6 or so) Way to go Indians Can't stop the Chop Chop CHop!!

Hey Rebel fans!! I am hoping someone with a Maryville perspective will go to the KINGSPORT DB INDIANS string and post a message on the Bearden Bulldogs. We do not know much about them. Final 4 last season, started fast this season, then faded at the end of reg. season. Hotshot Cruze quit just before the District started. Finished 4th in District and Runner Up in Region Tournaments. That's it. So any info on players, style of offense and defense, coaching.....etc. will be very helpful. Thanks and good luck in the Sub State 7 out

The Indians lived to the the pre-season hype, that is hard to do sometimes. The Media was picking SH and all of Kpt knew what we had. I think SH (deep down) knew it too, that's why their not so shocked to be thinking about next season when that is the furthest thing from the Indians minds right now. We got Beardon coming to town. I hope to get a Maryville perspective on the Bulldogs posted on here. Maybe we can find out their strengths and weaknesses since the hotshot Cruze quit the team at the end of the Reg. Season. We did scrimmage them in Nov., we carried it to them, but they may not have been full strenght at that time. DB is going to practice Sunday in the Dome. I may go catch a little of that. Focus on the Bulldogs, Indians, it's the only game in town, or out of town either!! Can't stop the chop Chop Chop!! 7 out

DB has a way of winning thrilling games against Greeneville. 2 out of the wins have been taken away by the Tribe in the last min of play. That was about as good of a game as you could have hoped for. You can hope for better reffin' in the Sub State and State Tournament, but, maybe there are no really good High School refs around! I am stoked about getting to play 1 more in the DOME> how about that for this team and the Seniors especially. DB will play Bearden. I don't know alot about them. They made the final 4 last year at State. Bearden started hot this year, was something like 19-2 at one point. Kinda faded at the end of the regular season, lost 5 of last 7 games. Then their best player "Cruze" quits the team just before the District Tournament!! Beaden finished 3rd in the District but was able to make it to the Region 2 Finals, loosing to Maryville by 20, 78-58. Bearden is the Bulldogs, and they trable well. See ya Monday Chop Chop!!

DB is loving this Freedom Hall gig!! 5-0 in JC's big Gym, that's the best record of any team playing there this year!! Nice game Indians, I know it is hard to be totally Focused every game out, especially against a team you have beaten 3 times (Vikings), but you got the job done tonight. The Tribe did not play that great, but Henry Williams did. And the Team Defense was good. The ref's are letting the kids play in this tournament (more than local refs) and it seemed like some whistles should have been used a few times more than they were, but we won't gripe with a SUB STATE BID IN HAND AND A TICKET IN THE REGION FINALS. Super team win. Now I know it won't be hard to get focused for Friday's game. Greeneville is a mighty dangerous team! Better eat your Wheaties, Tribe. Can't stop the Chop Chop Chop!! 7 out

Cocke Co. was far and away the 2nd best team in that District, they got nothing. Makes Greeneville look much less imposing, undefeated in District 2, 0-5 against SH and DB. C MO put the team thru a good practice today, no running though, since they will have back to back games Thur and Friday. Just went through the Offensive sets. Play hard Injin's. DB WINS ROUND 1 OF THE REGION TOURNAMENT!! MILESTONE AFTER MILESTONE FOR C MO AND THESE INDIANS!! CHOP CHOP!! DB 78 Cherokee 49 I am "jonesing" for stats. Please post the numbers, whoever was able to go to the game. I know a couple of things: 1 - This was a total mismatch - As we have become used to 2 - The Indian Bench was playing almost the entire 2nd half and the entire 4th qtr. I heard that Lamon Williams was high scorer, but Jervis, Blye, Wootten and Henry Williams all had good games (for the amount of time they played) It is great that everyone was able to get PT, and lots of it. Morristown East over Science Hill 1st Round Region 1 AAA Tournament Johnson City, TN Poe and his boys are still shaking their heads like bobblehead dolls after loosing to Kingsport last Friday night @ home. They will think showing up is all that is required to win Tuesday, wrong answer. The hill goes down before Greeneville gets another shot at them. Of course that is only a prediction, I could be wrong and I sorta hope I am. I want to see SH vs Greeneville in 2nd round. This just seems like good timing for a huge letdown on the Hilltoppers part. 7 out

I really don't think many of the new posters on this string are DB grads but if you are DB fans, let's support this team and be happy that we finally have a Basketball Program worth supporting again!! Now we can forget the Dark Ages ('94-00) those sorry days are long gone. If you played on teams in that era, I am sorry you had to endure the Worst Coaching Span in DB History. But, as I said, those days are long gone. DB is on TOP again!! And we will stay there, no doubt about it.
