  1. I have no reply to fans that cannot help but show their worst side... ...as to the girls from both schools, I think that both of these teams had very good seasons. Alcoa will be getting their pitcher back for next and some sticks, so expect them to be coming back full force. Unicoi still has a shot a state, and I will have to be honest in stating that it's a pretty good shot. ...a well played game by both teams, also noting that umpires have no effect on the level of play that the girls from both teams exhibited.
  2. smokey, what are you going to do all night since you won't be sleeping? I am also bothered by my inclusion on this list, but at least I have some good company... ...let's see what Unicoi can do on the road, and what Pigeon Forge can put up at home...
  3. "Once a Falcon, Always a Falcon"...but I graduated from Volunteer a while ago. Not really that bored, checking in on CoachT is actually part of my job. There is a lot of good information to be found on CoachT. Likewise, it is also a breeding ground for trash talking. I was Hawkins County born and raised, and I'm proud of that. On a more serious note, is anyone on here playing slow-pitch in Kingsport this summer? Baseball note (since this is a baseball thread): I'm not quite sure of my plans for tonight. I'm having my date on Saturday now due to a death (the one on 11-W from the other day). It was supposed to be a double-date type deal, but the young woman killed was my buddy's fiance's cousin, so they'll be going to the funeral. So just let me know what's going on with game details if I can't get there tonight (just post some notes on here or something).
  4. but I liked Seinfeld, so I'm still curious...ah, living vicariously through others is not a good thing... ...I guess we'll see tonight which teams have brought their game, and which teams have just been running their mouths...and to answer your question 'the real deal' from another thread..."very" Okay, it's time for me to go out and celebrate my birthday some more with people that I didn't get around to seeing yesterday (I call it Birthday Observed...kind of like those Canadian holidays)
  5. I'd have to put my money on Goodpasture if I was a betting man...alas, this is not internet Texas Hold 'Em so I will not place a wager...still yet, I'm saying Goodpasture 4-1
  6. Just wait until you see some of the young ladies that I'm helping to bring into our program. I still have some maturing to do before I could take over as a head coach, but I definitely have faith in my recruiting. The biggest thing that I think that I personally will have to overcome is learning how to deal with each individual lady. Some need someone that talks to them, some need to be left alone for the most part, and others need to be pushed hard. Coaching is all about finding what's best for each player, and the group as a whole. One of my girls that I helped to bring in was a freshman this year, and all you had to do to her was tell her "clear head...have fun" before she stepped up to the dish, then she'd hit it a mile. There are some really solid ballplayers in Unicoi and at Alcoa. Actually, there are solid softball players in a lot of places in Northeast Tennessee. There are two really strong candidates for State right in our back yard (Unicoi County in AA, and Jefferson County in AAA). I'm not sure about how strong the Northeast Tennessee teams are in single A, but I know that Unaka and University School both have a pitcher that could get their team to State (after that I'm not sure that anyone can compete with Goodpasture having Danielle Pieroni AND Jayme Wamsley)
  7. The D-B team definitely have solid sticks. They are smart at the plate, and that is one of their biggest keys to success. Rarely will you find an D-B player get cheated in an at bat by swinging at multiple pitches out of the zone. Also, is Coach Ritz's son on here...I miss talking to him, he's one of the most honest people that I've ever met. For all I know, he could be on this board posting right where I am, but anyway if you see him let him know that he's a good man. And listen to him, because he's got some good advice...
  8. Have you realized yet that I don't go to Volunteer? Importer or Exporter Art?...because the little bald guy never answered that question...
  9. we all do realize that harder throwing pitchers supply the power to the bats, right?
  10. Art, You never did answer my question about whether you were an importer or an exporter. And what is your beef with Volunteer? You are one of the people that I post about, but I will give you props because that was pretty funny (at least that's what the TBS operator said). Now for the baseball portion of my post...D-B is lined up to make a pretty good run for the next two years as well, but let's see how far they can get in 2005...
  11. Baseball: call made by TSSAA Softball: based upon the positioning of the umpires, the home plate umpire should have made the call (which they did)...as for the call, I was not there and did not see it...
  12. agreed...PLAYING with class is the top priority...but when you win, do it with class as well...good point 'hard_ball1'
  13. I don't condone the actions of people that throw it in your face either...the best thing to do when that happens is what y'all did to the Hill on Monday...serve that beast up cold... I got the joke, but that was one of the first things that I saw on my birthday this morning...it wasn't a friendly message of "have a nice day" but you were mocking my screenname...but while I am on this subject I am going to ask you something that I have been curious about...what does your screenname stand for 'WaCoJaCo' ...and ebaumsworld is grand
  14. I was fast enough to get there in time to get the deflection. Anyone that ever got to see me play would know that was the one thing that I had over everyone else. I never had the strongest arm or the best bat, but I could run fast and I busted it 110-mph wherever I went. Also, the ball did not hit me in the face, somehow it found it's way into my glove (but I can't take the credit for that one), it was kind of like a matrix-type thing. Also, what are you talking about a pasture field? Where do you think I play high school ball at? (Also, I would like to apologize to my English teachers for repeatedly spelling "their" when it should have been "there" in previous posts.) Please elaborate on why you have placed me in the "stupid category"...
  15. Okay...to the Alcoa fans...good season for your girls and you will be back next year...don't let anyone take that away from y'all To the Unicoi fans...take your win and go to Memphis, don't throw it in anyone's face. Winning with class is the top priority, and I hope that no board readers take anything away from the Lady Blue Devils players because of your actions.
  16. Sorry, I have a date...but I do wish y'all luck and hope that y'all will beat Halls...
  17. is there an on-line parking lot somewhere?... It'd be pretty cool to see 2 teams from District 1-AAA go to State...but how nice would it be if D-B and the Hill finished 1-2?
  18. I wasn't talking about the class of the fans, I was talking about the people posting on this board. I'll go Dr. Phil on you if you want me to, I can pull things out like "D-B was happier than a pig in the mud after getting revenge on the Toppers on Wednesday, but that doesn't make the hair grow on a mole rat."
  19. WaCoJaCo, I posted on another thread that Halls is much worse at it than y'all...also, what's with changing my screenname around?...I've been to Dobyns-Bennett games before, and I know how the fans can get...fans can get like that everywhere...I think it would be a lot better if someone could see Dobyns-Bennett winning and note that they don't throw it in everyone's face...if you feel that you have to trash talk people to feel better, then I'm not going to stop you...I make comments about things that I see...also, I have no comments for teams in other areas of the state that I have little or no interest in, and talking with certain other teams in District 1 (all classes) would be pointless (plus D-B is just better than those teams and probably the only realistic chance of a State winning team)...Play with Class, Win with Class is what I want from my players... I can go on a totally different tangent talking about the fans of high school sports, because I've seen the worst of them (including the ones mentioned in Post #12). I did notice a bit more team cohesion coming from Dobyns-Bennett last night than I have seen at some other schools. From a psychological standpoint, the body contact (such as high fives) that the Indians use has shown to produce better results...my friend did a study on it, quite interesting actually. This Indians team plays together, and I'm glad to see that in a team.
  20. I never liked that cracker jack box of a field in Unicoi when we had to travel their...maybe that's just because I was an outfielder that took a reflected line drive off of the woodblocks at the base of the fence at the head...if you ask me...that's dangerous...but both teams get to hit their, so it's not THAT big of an advantage...except knowing how to play it off of the Lincoln Logs in the outfield...and of course the fans help the Blue Devils out...but that's why it's called "Home Field Advantage"...
  21. 'tnknights' is correct...no RBI awarded...and why should it?...the batter just cost their team 2 outs...
  22. well let's just say that my sophomore year of college that I was dating a girl and decided to take her down to Cherokee for annual slugfest...as we were leaving and walking to the car, a fight literally broke out directly in front of us (the second one we saw walking from the field to the car) and I said "That's Hawkins County football for you...the real action takes place after the game..."
  23. when I was in high school we had a pretty tight rivalry with Cherokee...resulted in a fist fight at the 50-yard line with players, fans, and parents...my fondest memory of my senior year of football was charging towards the 50-yard line (something that I did in my immature adrenaline-filled body), and glancing up to see my classmate (not on the team) with his face fully painted rushing into the pile...somehow we made it home with a Cherokee football helmet, but it did get returned...eventually...I think...
  24. wow...I'm even more cunning than I thought...I was referring to you getting D-B off of that high horse, but then I began to think about the statue in Washington, D.C. with Stonewall Jackson on the horse...wow...I'm good y'all...but seriously though, beat Halls...
