  1. Hillwood Hillsboro Bartlett Bolton Sycamore Harpeth (Defending Champ) Creekwood Cheatham Co Friendship Christian McGavock MLK Maplewood Hunters Lane Stratford Antioch NCS David Lipscomb JPII - (Pittsburg on the clock?) TN School of Blind ARK School of Blind These are the schools scheduled to come to the HWD INVITE. If any of these schools decide not to come, please post so.
  2. Hey wise guy, Why not try to promote positive D1 prospects from TN instead of trying to imply the Kid is a cheater. You need to grow up and promote your state. Dont be a jerk. Have a great day.
  3. The rumor was floating around before the district tournaments that Coach B at Maplewood was the next Antioch coach. Reasons- NTE certification / recruiting allegations / more athletes. Pearl's best freshman is Deaunte Mason from Gra-Mar (Maplewood feeder) Hillsboro's best freshman is Josh Brooks from Bass (actually Hillwood/Pearl feeder) Brooks was zoned Hillwood before allegedly recruited to Hillsboro. Hunters Lane's best players came via special transfer. Feeder schools actually don't bring your best players unless you are really fortunate or your feeder coaches "like you" Hey all you AAU coaches " let the kids have a life and do not steal their money"
  4. How good would Maplewood's Freshman team have been if Gra-Mar's 8th Grader's all went to their zoned school. Deaunte Mason P-C, Josh Henley, Erik Wisdom, Kenny Williams H-L. 4 starters 1 from Pearl and 3 from Hunters Lane would have helped the Panthers. Oh well, sometimes it doesn't matter where you live out east as long as you have a relatives' address. No facts, just opinions ..............Good luck to Antioch's 9th Graders . Heard they may have a new coach soon
  5. Good Coaching and good athletes equals success. They do things the right way. BA did beat them last year by a former Gra-Mar superstar hitting a last second shot to steal the win.

    White House wins

White House dominated the line of scrimmage. Hillwood was without our best DT # 71 for most of the game as well as an all-state LB #3 Dennis Peoples due to injuries. Hillwood for whatever reason does not have 80 plus players to back up these leaders and it cost us on defense. The lineman from White House were impressive as was #38 on defense. Their receivers were faster than expected. White House's #4 is a "killer" running back and Hillwood couldn't slow down the speeding bullet. White House QB played his ###### off friday night. He will need another stellar performance next week or it could get ugly. The White House coaching staff needs to turn off the deafening fan they keep running in the visitor's locker room. You can't hear the guy talking next to you in the visitor's locker room. Their coaching staff was asked to turn the fan off and they said they would but never did. Sometimes a pre-game speech is more effective if the team can hear it. Lack of class on their coaching staff I believe. Half-time adjustments were muffled over the noise of the fan as well. Not an excuse, but a complaint because their staff seemed to be cordial and classy before this experience. Hillwood had a less than stellar week of preparation but this was a great year and the Toppers will always be the undisputed undefeated region champions unlike WH who has to share the crown with Statford. WH may beat Melrose but they will lose to Maryville in the Ship. I am pulling for WH but feel their best game of the year was just played Friday night. I am humble and now know what BDP means. Good luck WH for the rest of the year.
  7. Is Nunley related to Jeremy Nunley that played at The University of Alabama?
  8. I believe that Broome was coaching the boys track team this spring which would keep him out of Spring Ball. It is my opinion that he will do a fine job if he indeed has it.
  9. Arcentae will do an excellent job if given the chance to bring in some help. He is a hard worker that is well respected by the kids. McGavock will obviously do better than they did last year.
  10. Tell us how you feel Topperman. You received props from Alzado. Well Done. Even though he had to put in the (at MPW) part. You may have done your best job of coaching this year with the W's not showing up as often as you would have liked.
  11. Don Woods will not help kids. He uses them for his own platform. Coaches, do not send any of your players to him. Please find a more qualified AAU coach that will not use the children at the expense of the Kid's school. How many of you AAU coaches really care whether your players' school team is successful.
  12. Congratulations to Gra-Mar Gladiators for their fine season and winning 1st Place in the City of Nashville. Coach Casey Smith is an excellent coach, teacher and motivator of young men. Their track team won the City Championship last year and their football program has won their division 2 out of the last 3 years. Go Gladiators!
  13. It is still Wrestling season. Where is the Wrestling board?
  14. We will see how well the Maplewood Athletic Department does in the next few years with their young football and basketball coaches. Many of us know that the talent is definitely there. The best coach at Maplewood is Coach Paschal (Wrestling), who is the best football coach in the school not coaching football. Coach B will be keeping an eye on the Middle School programs around the city to pull talent like he did at Hunters Lane. For some reason, he can do it and others can't. If Coach B and Coach Thompson (football) continue their "If he is a Basketball player, he should NOT play football because he could risk injury," dialogue, then the program could be in trouble in several areas.
  15. To Metroballfan: You are incorrect if you believe that Hillwood's football team won games this year with talent alone. I know this is a basketball board but you need to be corrected. A Sophomore and Junior loaded fooball team was coached by several new coaches to the staff. Steve Brown, Chuck Lewis and Coach Komisar were new additions to the Varsity staff this year. Talent alone does not win 9 regular season football games in Metro Football. As for Hillwood Basketball, Chester Lewis is the teams best rebounder at 6' 2". Hall is the teams best scorer. This team is going to need some time to figure out how to put the ball in the basket in the second half. Gamble is the man to get it fixed but it will take time.
  16. Coach Gamble is a good coach and he will prove it again in the near future at Hillwood. He has only been with these players a few months. They will improve as the year goes on. They will be better next year.
  17. Does anyone believe that Maplewood will win a game this year? They surely have the talent to squeek out 1 victory this year. Have they started playing the younger kids and begin to think about next year?
  18. Which is the most probable? Hunters Lane is a much improved team from last year under a new coaching staff. (or) Maplewood hasn't improved or learned from a disappointing season a year ago. I missed the only quarter of the game so some insight would be nice. Was the final 22-0 in one quarter? Whose got predictions for next weeks game between Hunters Lane vs. Overton and Malplewood vs. Hillwood. Pearl vs. Hillsboro?
  19. Gra-Mar Middle School in Metro Nashville is starting its 3rd year of 7th and 8th grade football. They went undefeated and finished City runner-up to Hillsboro's feeder school (J.T. Moore) who has been good for the past 6 seasons. Gra-Mar could be competing for the Championship again this year. Dalewood and Kennedy Middle schools are up and coming programs in the City of Nashville. These are the non-recruiting schools in Nashville. The scholarship schools such as MBA and Brentwood Academy usually do well with the kids they recruit and with the upper class hard working kids. It usually produces a good mix at these two private schools. Watch out for Pope John Paul II in a year or two. They are learning from MBA and BA.
  20. How has Spring practice been at the Lane with the new and possibly improved coaching staff? Will they surpass last years results? Will the playoffs be a realistic goal for the Fall 2003 season? Has the coaching staff united to do what best for their program. How will they adjust given that the school's best athlete chose to concentrate only on Hoops? Are they on the way back up or on the way back to the rest of the pack? Comments anyone?
  21. Hillsboro will be tough to beat. Antioch will give them a tough challenge. Hunters Lane and Maplewood will be solid.
  22. Joe played for Gra-Mar Middle in Nashville in the Fall of 2001. He has a little sister with the last name of Robinson. He could have taken this last name. (Mothers)He is a big kid for an 8th grader and a fine football player.
  23. I am friends with Joe and I know the story well. With your arguement, I would say that Jermont Wade was the most dominant during his time at Hillwood(90-91). Hathaway was a decent player for the toppers as was Cooperwood. Joe developed into an excellent player while at Belmont. He might not have been the best during his High School career, but he is the best that the school has ever produced in my opinion. Did you go to school at Hillwood? If so, what years?
  24. Did Joe Garcia play for South Pitt last year? He was a good player for Gra-Mar as a 7th grader.
  25. Joe Behling - Hillwood High School - Belmont Univ.
