  1. Eric Gordon's pick 6 is why Dooley didn't get fired this year- fact. You lose to Vandy and Ky back to back and he was fired and you know it. Gordon beat Quarles as well in 08 just to rub it in a little. Vandy was at a bowl game while UT players were sulking- fact. Dooley gets fired next year because your QB is immature and overrated. Your stud receiver is a cancer on the team. Zero SEC caliber running backs in Knoxville. Defense will be good with Sunseri but they weren't that bad last year.
  2. I miss coaching with guys from Coach Jerry Link's staff @ Hillwood 2003-05 and Coach Blade's Hillsboro staff 2006-08 as well as my Gra-Mar coaching days (Smith & Cannon). Having kids will change priorities quickly.
  3. It sounds like your trying to say that the new coach will be able to bring in some quality teachers/coaches into the building . If this is true, great. Track programs, Wrestling and Basketball have done well at East Lit lately. Good luck in the search.
  4. I did coach with Holliday at Hillsboro. He is a high energy guy with tons of enthusiasm . I have been told he is a good english teacher as well. He is a big Ole Miss guy but we won't hold that against him. Hard worker and a good guy. I did not know he was interested in leaving Ravenwood.
  5. Word i hear is that East Lit. won't bring in any help for whoever gets the Head Coaching job. CR has talent. I don't know the Prinicipal at CR so I can't say if they are committed to winning or not. I do know that Antioch's administration would be the best group to work for in metro imo. btw, there is nothing wrong doing what your doing and where you are doing it. You are making a difference in many kids' lives.
  6. Obviously every situation is different but most all the kids that have played for workinprogress would have ran through a wall for the guy. WIP, go get certified and have some options when the school down the road opens up.
  7. Does the Cane Ridge job interest you? I know you would already have a relationship with many of the student athletes in the community.
  8. Coach Arnold would be a great fit for the Cane Ridge community.
  9. Totally agree with this post. Can Maplewood or Pearl make a run in 2012?
  10. Go Gra-Mar High School (Maplewood) ! Win it for Metro ! Congrats to Broome and staff for an excellent year. Win 1 more for the Wood.
  11. Shortly after Blade left Hillsboro, total change was required by the new coach. I'm now fortunate to be able to spend more time with family. Stratford is such a challenging teaching job that the applicants will be limited imo. Hard to build a staff when the teaching requirements are so great plus funding almost all goes to security bills and female sports. I think J. Smith worked his rear off for Stratford and it never resulted in as many wins as he would have liked. I think they should get the men's track coach and offer him the job, he did just win a State Title a few months ago.
  12. Maplewood certainly has done very well with the student athletes they get out to play. Pearl-Cohn gets MLK High School kids which would make them more like a 4a or 5a school. Broome and his staff have done very well at Maplewood.
  13. Hunters Lane won't be available due to Coach Darnell just getting the job this summer. Hillwood won't be looking for another coach because Principal and HC are great friends, and they are content with status quo. I agree with you about East Lit. unfortunately. Cane Ridge has the Mark Richt of metro football (very nice guys - not many quality wins) I would like to see Crawford have a chance as HC at Overton when T. Anderson puts his whistle down. Hillsboro vs. Centennial might be a make or break game for the Hillsboro's staff imo. Stratford is a tough situation but they have a guy who works real hard and is an alum i think. The Spartans could be a much better ball club if they could get a few more quality teachers/coaches in the building to help Jason.
  14. Hillsboro coach beats his alma mater (Stratford)tonight for their 3rd win of the year.
  15. The Tennessean's article discussing Hillsboro's enrollment is an interesting piece. Current Hillsboro Quarterback C.J. Robinson stated that as a freshman, the varsity team was so much bigger than they were. I know that the heaviest starter in 2008 was under 230 lbs . C.J. is a great kid and a good athlete who will have success this year against Stratford and Centennial. Good luck to the Burros the rest of the way this season. I am curious what others think about this article.
  16. I appreciate your honesty. I guess i would do the same thing but i would not feel real good about it as is not good for the game (purposely committing a penalty to get an advantage). Taking a delay of game in order to set up a punt, and PI to prevent an obvious Touchdown are the only quality reasons to commit a penalty imo.
  17. MJ looks like a great team . Boring as heck but a great team .
  18. Go Yellowjacktets. Tackle. I wonder if HC will jump offsides 5 times in a row on purpose to keep clock moving like last year?
  19. I will be pulling for the Burros but you are probably correct in your assessment . I think the Burros get on the board late.
  20. The information you have heard about Coach Blade is way off. He is a great motivator to say the least and a good x's and o's coach . Sour grapes if you heard otherwise. OR just doesnt have many real good players . Look at Hillsboro without Blade (awful). He is definitely not the coach who will go into the hallways and kiss potential players bottoms to get them out for ball. He will build a staff who will work harder than any other and demand excellence from the kids in the programs.
  21. Congrats to East Lit. for beating a higher ranked Hillsboro team. Jim Wilson is a great guy and a quality coach .
  22. Give Coach Darnell some time. I don't believe he was able to assemble a staff (they were principal appointed)so it may take a few years to get some quality coaches in the building if the administration is willing to commit to school athletics. I think they could beat most metro schools on a good day.
  23. Early looks indicate that the Overton Bobcats are once again at top of Metro Football. McGavock is probably the next best big school in Metro with the Panthers as the top of the smaller metro schools. Other than the defensive end from McGavock, who are Division I caliber metro football players with real official offers?
  24. I hear Chris Sanders son will be MBA's RB next year.
  25. What did Fairview do this year they have not done in the past? They almost always win 7 or 8 games and exit in round 2. Time will tell how good the Jackets coach and staff are. They are without a doubt in much better shape than both programs in Hickman Co. combined.
