Both teams have great offenses but I think the difference-maker here is on the defensive side of the ball. Siegel has shown their defense can be exploited by a good offense (i.e. Blackman, 2nd half of Franklin game), while Riverdale's D has been elite all season. Plus, Riverdale has more experience playing in big games. RHS-35 SHS- 24

Rebels look to build off a 38-0 thrashing of McGavock, while Hilsboro is coming off a lost to East Literature. Franklin is the heavy favorite, but may get caught looking ahead to Smyrna next week. Hilsboro has been on a steady decline in recent years. Predictions anyone?

Franklin (2-1) comes off a comfortable win over an overmatched Centennial team, while McGavock (0-2) is trying to rebound after a 48-7 thumping against Mt. Juliet. Franklin looks like a team with great potential but has failed to but offense and defense together on the same night and play solid for all four quarters. McGavock is struggling to do anything, especially on defense. Big game for both teams as FHS has Smyrna next week and if McGavock drops to 0-3 it could really hurt the team morale. Thoughts? Predictions?

Should be a great game between two good teams. I think the game will be more defensive than most expect, as many early season games are while teams are trying to find their identity offensively. Thus, I have to pick the team with the better, more experienced defense. Franklin wins in both those categories, and will ultimately win their season opener on the road. FHS- 17 SHS- 7

Do you understand what blocking is and what muscles you use for it? I agree that how much a player bench presses does not define their ability as a player but to say that the bench press is not an important lift is an ignorant statement. I would be shocked to find a college strength coach at a successful program say the bench press doesn't matter.

It has gotten strangely quiet on this thread, what has been happening in the district series? Who won Indy-Ravenwood?

I saw Ray throw a few weeks ago, he throws pretty hard but not 95. I looked at some of the scouts' guns and he was consistently 89-91

Talked to a friend about the Franklin-Mt. Juliet game last night, he said Franklin played pretty well and broke out of their hitting slump. Pretty impressive win for Franklin, Mt. Juliet is the #79 team in the country. Hopefully there hitting will carry into the district tournament. What are the district match-ups next week?

Brentwood defeated Franklin on Monday night 4-2. The Rebels got off to a hot start against Robby Ray but couldn't do much with the bats past the second inning. Both teams were pretty solid in the field, and Franklin's pitcher threw pretty well although I don't think he is usually their #1 in the district rotation. Should be interesting to see how the rest of the series goes without Ray on the mound for Brentwood. How did the other district games go?

I don't remember one person saying Indy was a one-man team....that was Centennial and Tony Kemp they were referring to.

I agree with these predictions especially the fact that franklin and brentwood will battle it out for the top spot. It will be interesting to see who franklin will get to replace Webb. I dont really know the situation at Brentwood, but I know the Rebels have a good amount of contributors from last season returning and some talented young guys who should contribute this season. Should be an interesting season.

Any ideas on who Franklin is targeting to replace Webb?
