  1. The AA finals could be BBS and Goodpasture.
  2. Since Davidson sat out last year at the State we ought to wait and see how they fair at state before we start rating them!
  3. District 5A: 1)Boyd Buchanan 2) Grace Academy BBS hosts Whitwell, 5pm Monday Lookout Valley hosts Grace on Monday
  4. Red Bank is a good team, well coached, and some of the hardest working players I have witnessed. Red Bank hits well and so does Baylor( Baylor is a good hitting team). Obviously there is a lot of parity in softball this year, any team is capable of playing an opponent tough, as well many teams have shown they can compete on many classification levels. The proof is in the scores this season in Chattanooga, where many teams have shown the ability to win big games against big opponents in and out of town. How could any team claim the right as the best? (Soddy could, yet they must finish the deal) The truth is that teams must continue to schedule tough opponents and compete in big tournaments to gain confidence, some level of consistency, and the respect of other programs. Once again, many teams have talked the talk, yet have not walked the walk! Good luck to all programs throughout the state as post-season approaches!!!!
  5. Most of the talk on this subject has to do with regular season. How will Rockwood do if they make it to the Spring Flling, and how would they do? Who do you think will be there in single A, and could Rockwood hang??????
  6. Any coach, regardless of school ball or travel ball, can learn from the other. I have never met a coach that knew it all, as a matter of fact some coaches know the game but do not know how to motivate their players (vice versa). The point is that coaches should share and be open to suggestions and techniques from each other; remember the players are the focus of the game, not the coaches and their egos.
  7. To me the most underated pitcher in East Tennessee is Brittany Hendon from Boyd Buchanan. She has endured some tough losses against strong AAA teams, yet her stuff is as good as any pitcher in single A.
  8. Brittany Hendon had a great tournament pitching for BBS, allowing one hit and striking out 12 Soddy batters. Anyone that keeps Soddy to one hit and two runs has pitched well. Out of respect for Soddy, ask Walker Valley and Baylor hitters they took hacks at her pitches too! Soddy has a great team, yet Baylor, Ooltewah, BBS have capable teams as well
  9. BBS tied Columbia Academy 0-0, lost to Creekwood 2-1 on Friday. Saturday BBS defeated Richland 5-2 and Ezell Harding 3-1. Well hosted tournament and thanks to the Columbia Academy folks. The Boyd and Columbia doubleheader at the end of April should prove to be a competitive one.
  10. BBS from Chattanooga is looking for JV games, they have a big number and are in need of more games. Call 423-624-9064.
  11. I agree that Baylor and Soddy Daisy will be tough again, and Ooltewah and GPS will be improved, yet do not leave out Boyd Buchanan. They return many starters and have plenty of experience up and down the lineup.
  12. Boyd Buchanan School (Chattanooga) is looking for possible JV games for softball this spring. BBS is willing to host a JV softball "playday" or would be interested in participating in one. Please contact Jeff Stone. Phone # 423-624-9064 email jstone@bbschool.org
  13. BBS will not be there. BBS has a theatrical event at school from Friday to Saturday which posed a conflict with playing in the tournament.
  14. Why is this discussion centered on whether or not something was said by someone? Bottom line, it was a good game, two great pitchers, 2 good defensive teams, and errors will occur when teams play in tight games like this.
  15. This was a good pitching dual. Sarah and Carrie both pitched extremely well. Correction, Boyd did have 7 hits, not 2. Carrie did a good job of keeping a good line up of hitters at bay. The key error was a overthrow to second on a steal in the 5th. The centerfielder overplayed the ball and let the runner score from second. Great game from McMinn, BBS played well.
  16. THe BBS Soccer program is much improved this year, with a new coach and several talented players they should be poised for a run. Dustin Walker is the new coach; he is from Nashville and played for David Lipscomb University. Dustin will get the most out of this team. BBS has a proud history of soccer, let us not forget that they were in the state finals in 2000.
  17. Teams that are in the playday are:Baylor, BBS, Central, Cumberland, East Ridge, Farragut, Hixson, Notre Dame, Ooltewah, Powell, Red Bank, Sequatchie, Soddy Daisy, and Tyner. BBS plays Red Bank @9, Ooltewah@10, Soddy@1, and Farragut@2. The schedule has been out since last Friday at least.
  18. Has anyone played against Boyd Buchanan, how would you rate Jesse Smith the keeper? I know she is tough, BBS is an up and coming program, although they have struggled. Jesse has made some awesome saves the past 2 years.
  19. The Boyd Buchanan School high school softball team is looking for games with opponents outside the Chattanooga Area for this spring. If interested, call BBS (423)624-9064, ask for Coach Jeff Stone.
  20. The District 5a tournament will be postponed until Wednesday, going to single elimination, Copper Basin will forfeit to BBS. Grace and Tyner will decide the finalist to play BBs. No end in sight with the rain although.
  21. Boyd did not hit well yesterday. This can be attributed probably to facing good AAA pitching most of the year. They were a little "off balance" it seemed. From what i heard the score did not truly reflect the game. Boyd dominated and allowed the only run on a fielder' choice to second.
  22. Has anyone heard what the result of the GPS and BBS game was played on Monday at GPS?
  23. I was just interested in how much Whitwell talks about how they are rolling, yet, who have they played thus far that would establish the idea of "rolling"? Are you saying that Whitwell has acheived something spectacular,or, are you just stating the obvious, which is that Whitwell has scored a lot of runs against weaker opponents? 24. Single A softball would not be discussed without mention of Boyd Buchanan out of Chattanooga. Yes, Sale Creek, Grace, CCS have good programs, yet none of those mentioned have proven they can hit Sarah Warren. From what i have heard BBS has one of the top freshman classes around, not to mention an 8th grade pitcher that everyone will soon be hearing about, Kyra Lee. Boyd also has a lot to prove after failing to make the state last year.
