That is not entirely true. I went to the Air Force Academy, and we had a pitcher/quarterback that was drafted after his senior year. The US military has a program that trains the elite athletes. It actually counts towards his time in the military! It is not an option for everyone, but once a cadet graduates, it is possible to play professional sports.

Price has no choice...he's not eligible for the draft for another year...next year he'll go number one overall.

Ok, so what does everyone think? Anything that just jumps out at you? I dont know if anyone other than Burke or Minor will drafted high enough to sign...and even with them, it will probably take a lot to take them away from the 'Dores!

Spoke with Blackman's coach after the game last night - very classy bunch of guys! He said they return most of their starters - so look for the Blaze to be back in the race next year! Ooltewah does not play on a small field..I'd say it's slightly above average for size. 368 to dead center. Zack Woods is not their number 2...he rarely even pitches. John Howard and Burke on any given day are number 1/2....Jeremy Woods is 3. They won the regular season district...lost in District Tourney championship. I'd say this will be very evenly matched. Look for a great TN AAA baseball game Friday night!

Both teams are good, and I would probably give the edge to Riverdale, BUT.... All of you know that it is very difficult to beat a good team four times in one season! Not making a prediction, just an observation!

As I said, unless their concerns are well-founded - in this case they are ignorant - then it really doesn't matter what they think. Jeremy Woods has been dominant all year as the Owls' number 3 pitcher. He was the right guy for that situation. It's done. It's over. You'll get Burke tomorrow night.

Honestly, I'm tired of hearing "the parents aren't happy," or "the parents dont think so." It really doesn't mean a hill of beans what they think. There may be 2 of Ooltewah's parents even close to qualified to be a Head Baseball Coach at the high school level...even middle school for that matter. Now, here's a question for you broadbat: You're the coach. Your number two pitcher is out because it's only been 2 days. So you've got your number 1 and your number 3 available. The game is on Thursday. Obviously a district championship means a lot! It's a great honor! But would you burn your number 1 pitcher on Thursday knowing he would not be able to go again on Monday? Thursday's game is very important for the championship....but Monday's game is must win or you go home. I'd rather play on the road, than be sitting at home after Monday. I would bet my next paycheck that Bumper Reese, Steve Garland, Glen Carter, and Bobby Cox would have done the same thing. Take that to the bank!
