  1. Is this just for underclassmen or does it include seniors also?
  2. The Owls come up short in the elimination round of the playoffs by coming out flat in the opening innings. Small strike zone combine with a couple of errors and timely hits did them in. It was a disappointing loss but they did have a great year. 32-6-1 isn't anything to sneeze at. It's just too bad Tennessee doesn't have the same playoff system as Georgia. I think their pitching depth and talent would have done better in that format. But you play with the cards you are dealt. GREAT year Owls!!!
  3. Grad, I also whole-heartedly back Wingates decision. He lays it out at the beginning of each season and never varies from the rule. This is the second or third person in the last four years that this has happened to but they knew coming in that it would happen. One thing I respect and the players should also is, there are consequences for your actions, at school, at work, in life. If you screw up when you know the consequences, you should only be mad at yourself. Not at the person that enforces the rules. One thing all players need to realize, this is a TEAM sport. One player does not make up a TEAM. As a member of a championship TEAM, you have to put your teams goals and objectives above personal satisfaction, especially when you know it has such consequences. The last thing Wingate said after Saturday's game was, "Don't do anything stupid tonight at prom". I think a valuable life lesson could be learned by this. Or at least I hope so.
  4. RB has scored one run in three games against the Owls. RB will have to improve greatly to be close. I think the scoring differential is 25 runs in three games. I have to go with the Owls in this one. Even if RB wins tonight, it's not over. They'll have to do it twice. I don't think so.
  5. Who does Central or Red Bank have left to pitch? I know they have run through their 1&2's possibly even 3&4's. Both teams used more than one pitcher against the Owls. Would the coaches throw an unrested arm? We'll see... Would either have anything left for the Owls??? I love the playoffs. Coaching really comes into play during crunch time.
  6. What's up with Soddy? Did they peak too early or was the sweep of the Owls a fluke? I would have loved for the Owls to get a re-match with them but I guess it will have to wait until next year. I know a lot of the seniors were foaming at the mouth for the rematch. They wanted payback bad. I can understand a loss to Red Bank, they are a good team, but Central, come on... They were overlooking Central anticipating Ooltewah. As an Owl's Fan, we feel your pain. You guys are in the same boat we were last year and the year before.
  7. Ryan Williams will do just fine. He actually has more range than Woods and as good an arm. Ryan just has to make the routine plays. The owls will miss Woods bat even though the rest of the team is hitting well right now. I think when/if they get out of the region is when it will show.
  8. Pretty accurate observation there Observer. They do cheer better than most high school softball teams I've seen.
  9. This is the winner's bracket finals, not the championship game. Congrat's to Central for the huge upset!!! I'm sure it will be a Farrow - Higdon showdown tonight. Should be a good one. thumb
  10. Grad, IamOwl is too busy snapping pictures to update the website. He's even quit posting pictures. Working for a living must be too tough on him...
  11. If the owls continue to swing the bats like they have the last 4 or 5 days, it won't matter who is on the mound. They are starting to hit their groove. 1-9 have been hitting the ball well lately. Opposing teams may be better off throwing a 9th grader that throws in the 60's. No joke...
  12. It's funny that Hiway58 hasn't been heard from on CoachT since the owls embarrased his lions back in the spring. He may disappear for good after next week.
  13. And your boy Loy aint bad. But he's no Beau Geren. Try running on that gun. You've got to be kidding me. I think the Owls stold three or four times on Beau/Pitcher. Beau is a good catcher but still has a way to go to catch Loy. Fabry stold once (on the pitcher) and was thrown out at 3rd by a MILE... He never even got to slide. There are probably three catchers in town that most likely when a base is stolen, it is on the pitcher. Those three are Loy, Geren, and Stafford. I'll keep my prediction to myself on the winner.
  14. I heard that Rhea beat Soddy last night. What's up with that? Not a very good way to represent 6AAA. Rhea isn't very good.
  15. Who cares if the balls would have been out at the owls field... Point is, you were'nt playing at the owls field were you. The fact that the owls only scored because of a throwing error, excuse me, how did Halls scored? On two mistakes by the owls. Point is, no errors, it's a 0-0 tie at the end of 7 innings. Both teams played well enough to win, unfortunatley only one team can.
