  1. Columbia was very impressive Wednesday, beating Lawrence Co 22-10 in 6 innings. They had 25 hits, 4 homers and several doubles and triples. Lawrence County had 12 hits. I can't remember a game with that much offense in a long time.
  2. What happened is they play in District 8 AAA, that is extremely competitive. There is not a lot of difference in the District teams, especially this year. Tournament baseball is about who is hot at the time they play the tournament. Any of the teams could win the tournament without it being much of a surprise. Columbia couldn't get past Coffee Co, which apparently played its best baseball this week.
  3. Sportsguy, I don't know how long its been since you have seen a game at Lawrence County, but I take exception to you saying its a terrible playing surface. This district is fortunate to have fine places to play at all 7 locations. I can't believe the District is being played at Columbia without lights. I wouldn't be surprised if it got changed since the plans were to play at Columbia State.
  4. Clay Brown picked up his 8th win for the Wildcats with a 4-2 victory. Manchester got 5 hits off of Brown. Lawrence plays Lincoln Wednesday in the Championship.
  5. I was at the game. It was a tournament game, but it was on Coffee Co's home field. The announcer treated it like a home game for Coffee, which is the advantage of hosting the tournament. It didn't offend me.

    8-AAA

Lawrence Co 3 Shelbyville 2. Clay Brown was the winning pitcher. 2-2 in the 7th. Shelbyville got the go ahead runner to 3rd with 1 out, but Brown got 2 strike outs to get out of the jam in the 7th. Lawrence Co scored the winning run on freshman Dylan Bosheers bad hop single over the shortstop to win the game in the bottom of the 7th. LC finishes 6-6 in the district.

    8AAA

I believe the 8AAA all district team has been named. Lawrence County members were Matt Hartsfield (MVP), Scott Beasley (Pitcher of the Year) Holden Killen, Brody Clanton, Orry Blackwood, Blake Rogers and Clay Brown. I'm not sure about the other members.
  8. This may be a first! Someone saying Lawrence County has any umpire that favored them.
  9. Scott Beasley for Lawrence Co beat Columbia Saturday 1-0 with 5 hits. Lovett for Columbia lost 1-0,but only gave up 2 hits.
  10. Holden Killen is the catcher for the Wildcats

    8-AAA

Lawrence Co 16 Shelbyville 7 Brady Hutton is the winning pitcher. Home runs by Matt Hartsfield, Nick Campbell, and Blake Rogers (Grand Slam). Lawrence County is co-champion with Lincoln Co, and should be the number 1 seed since they swept Columbia and Lincoln Co split with Columbia. First District Championship for the Wildcats since 1981. Congratulations Wildcats !!!

    8-AAA

He had 135 pitches for the 10 innings. He only had 1 inning where he faced 6 batters, the other 9 innings were fewer than 6 most being 4 batters an inning. He faced a total of 44 batters. I bet Scott Beasley would be ready to pitch today if they needed him.

    8-AAA

Lawrence County won 11-10. The game was 1-0, 2-0, 2-2, 8-2, 10-8 and 11-10 with Lawrence County scoring the go ahead run in the bottom of the 6th with Blake Rogers scoring the go ahead run on a passed ball. Brady Hutton got the win in relief of Drew Stoffel. Ben Aaron took the loss.
  14. I don't think that is correct for Babe Ruth competition. You must be within your league's boundaries to be eligible to play Babe Ruth regardless if there is no BR league in that area. If you are outside the boundary and someone catches you, your team will be disqualified. I'm sure lots of folks have skirted this rule and gotten away with it, but the rule is very clear, you must be within your league's boundary to be eligible.
