I'll have to admit, I like this one. -
Franklin Co wins at Columbia, Columbia wins at Franklin Co, Shelbyville wins at Columbia, Columbia wins at Shelbyville, Coffee Co wins at Tullahoma, Tullahoma wins at Coffee Co and if Lincoln Co wins at Lawrence Co tonite, the Falcons are in first place. Typical 8AAA baseball. Its wacky.

I'm not sure what the model number is of the illegal bat by Worth, but from what I heard today is that the illegal bat used is the same bat that is being used now and is red in color, but Worth changed it to a green color, because most girls prefer green over red. I think this green bat will be approved in a couple of weeks.

I'm glad to see Shaq (Shawn DiGianfelice) doing well at Grundy Co, but it cost me two of my better umpires in baseball, Shaq and Coach Mike Holt. They are a good combination and if Terri Winton coaches as well as she played at Motlow, then that's a good threesome of coaches. Unionville's loss is Grundy Co's gain. Keep up the good work and good luck to Shaq and his future bride. Shaq, I can't believe you haven't introduced Val to Travis yet. He is disappointed.

The second game will be played today at Lawrenceburg. I'm not sure of the starting time.

Todays 8AAA district game with Lawrence Co playing at Lincoln Co has been changed to one game starting at 6:15pm.

It was expected to be a pitchers duel between two of the best pitchers in Middle Tennesse and thats exactly what happened, but Coffee County's Bubba Vincent was the winner in this game as he pitched a no-hitter. If it hadn't been for one walk, he would have pitched a perfect game. Brian Morris also pitched well for Tullahoma, but got no run support as Coffee County won the game 1-0. The Red Raiders are in the drivers seat in 8AAA with a 3-0 district record, but its early in the season. These two teams play again tomorrow with the first game of the twin-bill starting at 4pm in Manchester.

Former Lawrence Co High standout baseball player, Brad White, returns to his alma mater as an assistant coach for the Tullahoma Wildcats and helps guide THS to a 6-1 win over his former team. Tullahoma swept the two game series with a 5-1 win Monday nite in Tullahoma. The Cats have a big series coming up next week with Coffee Co, who also is 2-0 in the district after sweeping Franklin Co. Brad White also starred at Motlow College and helped the Bucks finish second in the JUCO World Series.

Cascade scores a run in the bottom of the seventh to edge Moore Co 5-4.

In a game that was rained out last Monday and rescheduled for Sunday, Lincoln Co defeated a good Marshall Co. team 3-0. Destin, and I can't pronounce his last name, but he is nicknamed Needle, pitched six strong innings for the Falcons and got the win. It was a well pitched game by both starters and relievers as the game lasted only one hour and forty-five minutes.

Why don't we play next years state tourney without officials, or better yet, lets pick three from the stands for each game. Wouldn't that be fun? Better have the National Guard on stand-by. I really don't think it would make much difference if they used NBA officials. Add up the turnovers and bad decisions by coaches and players then count the mistakes, or believed missed calls, by officials and see who comes out on top. Hats off to all the officials, who leave work early and travel many miles for not much pay to do a job that most people wouldn't think of doing.

Here are some baseball scores from Southern Middle Tennessee. In District 11A, Forrest 8 Huntland 0, Eagleville 4 Cascade 0 and Murf. Seigal 11 Unionville 1. Games involving District 8AAA teams, Coffee Co 13 Marion Co 0, Franklin Co 5 Warren Co 2 and Tullahoma 5 LaVergne 4.

Smyrna rallies from an 8-1 deficit tonite to beat Shelbyville 12-10 in the opener for both teams.

Cascade defeated Unionville this evening in an 11-A district game 12-1.
-
One of my umpires called and said Tullahoma defeated Warren Co. 5-0 and Bryan Morris pitched a no-hitter this evening.

The Districe 11A coaches and administrators had an emergency meeting this morning in Lewisburg and voted to move the District 11A basketball tourney to Community High School in Unionville. The tourney was originally scheduled to be played at Huntland High School.

I was at the game last nite also and it was a very good game. Both teams played really hard and both should make it to the Region tourney. I'm not from Moore Co or Chapel Hill and as a neutral observer, I thought the officiating was very good. It was a young crew calling a big district game and they did a fine job and they will only get better. I couldn't tell if a foul was commited at the end when Forrest stole the ball and scored, but I know good officials don't call many fouls in the last few seconds, unless its very obvious, because they don't want to decide the game. They would rather let the players decide it. I'm sure these two teams will meet again and if they do, it should be another great game. Good luck to both teams.

I hear Shaq changed his hair color. What's up with that?
-
I didn't get the score, but the Moore Co boys bkb team won at Forrest tonite in a battle of District 11A unbeatens by one or two points. Congratulations to Coach Lavon King and the Blue Raiders.

Keep up the good work Zach.

That is one of the best websites I've seen and I've seen a lot. Keep up the good work.

The score against Tullahoma is kind of misleading. Tullahoma doesn't have a full squad, but won 4 of 5 matches against Franklin, including beating their ace in the 152 lb weight class. The Tullahoma Middle School wrestling team is currently 10-0 and just maybe one of these days, the high school team can have a full roster and not have to lose so many points on forfeits, as was the case against Franklin. It was a great early season match in the 152lb weight class between Tullahoma's Max Gessler and Franklin's Joel Konz. I would say these two young men will meet again later with more on the line, if they stay in the same weight class.

I've read all the posts and there are many good and bad comments made concerning the TSSAA and officials. This happens every season in every sport and that's nature of the game. I've been an official(baseball) for 27 years and have been through many controversies. Sure, there are some officials better than others in each sport, but at least these men and women are out there trying to do a job that most people wouldn't do for 10 times the pay. There is a shortage of officials in every sport in every state and I wish more people would register and become part of this elite group.I've heard the same complaints about the TSSAA and the officials 27 years ago and will hear them another 20 years, if I live that long. You could get rid of everyone at the TSSAA office and replace them with all new people and nothing would really change. People will still gripe and complain. Thats just part of the game. Everyone can be a good winner, but the true character of a person comes out when they're on the losing end. I cannot stand to lose at anything, but I've learned to deal with it and realize tomorrow is just another day. I've made errors and missed calls just like every official does, both amateur and pros, but we learn from these mistakes and try to get better. I've set in the stands and yelled at officials like most fans do, but I get over it. The TSSAA enforces the rules fairly and if you don't break them, you have no problems. Its just like law enforcement. You want them around as long as they don't interfere with you. My father always said, if you're gonna dance, you have to pay the fiddler. Respect the TSSAA and the officials for the hard work they do. Now that I've put my 2 cents in, I'm off to bed. Good luck to everyone in the play-offs.
