  1. Panther, Your room is waiting for you in Boliver!!!
  2. Standing room only tonight at Jackson Christian. DCA opened the scoring as #42 (Hall) caught an 18 yard TD pass at the 5:24 mark of the 1st qtr to make the score 7-0 DCA. JCS responded at the 9:32 mark of the 2nd as #11 (Rayner) caught an 18 yard scoring pass to make the score 7-7. After a long interception return, #25 (Woods) scored on a 9yd td run at the 4:53 mark of the 2nd to make it 14-7 DCA. HALF TIME SCORE DCA 14 JCS 7 At the 7:07 mark of the 3rd, #23 of DCA returned an interception 12 yards for a score to make it 21-7 DCA At the 6:50 mark of the 4th, #6 caught a 55 yard td pass from a backup qb to make the score 28-7. Final score DCA 28 JCS 7 JCS had 6 turnovers (2 fumbles and 4 interceptions) that were the major difference in this game. JCS, defensively, took it to DCA and never gave up against a much bigger opponant. JCS replaced their starting QB late in the 3rd qtr because of ineffectiveness. The change did not help matters at all. DCS was less than impressive a good portion of the night at JCS put constant preasure on the DCA QB's most of the night. Man, the offensive tackles for DCA were huge! For most of the night, the DCA defense just stiffeled the JCS offense.
  3. Class 1A North South Fulton, Union City, Greenfield, Gleason, Halls, Lake County Class 1A South Fayette Acadamy, West Carroll, JCS, McKinzie, Middleton, TCA, Bruceton *send Perry County to middle Tennessee Class 2A North Trenton, Huntingdon, Dresden, Humboldt, Westview, Gibson County Class 2A South Riverside, Adamsville, Camden, USJ, Milan Class 3A South Chester Co., McNairy Co., Liberty, South Side, Lexington, Boliver, Fayette Ware Class 3A North Crocket Co., Obion Co., Covington, Dyer Co., Ripley, Haywood Co., Dyersburg Now basketball will really be interesting. All of the various possibilities can make ones mind go numb! LOL
  4. Southside / USJ and DCA@ JCS should both be barn burners.
  5. If he gets time to throw the football, the USJ QB could pick the Southside DB's apart. However, to win the big games, you have to be able to run the football. I saw Southside destroy Raleigh Egypt with a devestating three pronged running attack. I figure Southside will win by 10 points in a very spirited battle of two great teams and coaches.
  6. wad, I will agree with you that Dan Morris is sorely missed, especially during the football season. I must disagree with you about 101.5. Their broadcast would be much better if Milt Canovan were doing the play by play of the main game. Reeves is simply annoying at best. I listened to a good part of his broadcast and he seemed to spend most of his time critisizing the Raleigh coaching staff. That is what Reeves does best. His broadcast of the state basketball tournament was an embarrassment last year. As far as 1390's coverage this season, it is very poor. "Diamond Dave" needs to go back to Trenton and Starnes needs to be off the air period! Who are you saying was horrible on their broadcasts last season?
  7. During the 5pm portion of the broadcast, this Starnes guy was giving a news report about a Madison County teenager who was apparently arrested after he was chased by police. Starnes, in an attempt to play to the Humboldt crowd, said that "we all know that would not happen here in Humboldt". While his comments were probably an attempt to just play up to the Humboldt crowd, they were in very poor taste.
  8. cw160, The staff at Milan should NOT be complimented in any way, shape, or form. Milan signed a contract for a home and home series against JCM. In my opinion, JCM should hold Milan to the written contract. If Milan does not want to play at "The Rock", then Milan should forfiet the game!
  9. Three years ago, I would of given the Jackson Sun a higher grade in their sports coverage. The reporters that they sent out did a good job in reporting on the games last night. However, the sports staff at that paper has shrunk in the last year or so as several former members of the staff have either moved on to different departments or have left the paper all together. The current sports coverage on the radio in the Jackson area has gone steadily downhill in the last few months.
  10. The Jackson Sun They did a fairly decent job covering the action in West Tennessee last night. I understand mistakes were made in the coverage of the Chester County Jamboree, but, overall, the actual game coverage was pretty fair. Unfortunately, the sports staff at this paper is very undermanned. Grade C+ WTJS 1390 AM This station covered the Northside at Humboldt game. What can I say? This stations coverage was horrible. The 5pm pregame show was a joke. Todd Starnes, the host, managed to offend every teenager in Madison County before the first break with some foolish comments. It is clear that he has absolutely no understanding of sports. He also hosted what was suppossed to be a post game scoreboard show. After listening to what seemed like 10 minutes of commercials, he finally came on the air. His show consisted of giving the scores from around the state, going to another break, coming back and giving them again then signing off. He even gave the wrong score of the Jackson Southside game. There were no calls taken, no detailed reports or analysis given of the nights game action. As far as the game coverage, they unfortunately had a stinker of a game. This stations broadcast was also full of static that made it difficult to listen to. The new play by play man seemed to hardly ever give the score of the game. He also has a bad tendency to say "recievers right and left" alot. I wonder if he realizes that there are recievers right and left on every play of a game! The pregame coverage by the play by play guy and the color guy were equally as bad. They were giving predictions on games in the area and they both admitted that they did not know anything about several of the teams, yet, they still gave predictions by just saying they would go with the home team. Plus, they had a tendency to give out wrong information about games at other sites. This station did not do anywhere near as good a job covering a game as they have done in years past. Grade F WNWS 101.5 FM This station carried the Southside game last night. Their pregame coverage was average at best. However, the play by play guy is hard to listen to because he is so annoying! Many of his comments concerning the Raleigh team were really uncalled for and were just plain unprofessional. The side line reporter was almost never heard from during the broadcast. The best part of this stations coverage was that they had a reporter calling in reports from the Humboldt and Northside game. His reporting was clear, and professional. He needs to be doing the play by play coverage of this stations games and the current play by play guy needs to be relegated to just phoning in reports! Grade C-
  11. Jackson Northside is really down this season. JCS beat them up in the jamboree last week and Humboldt, of all teams, just stomped them to death tonight. I would not be surprised at all to see Liberty beat Northside next week by 15 points.
  12. Gator, Yes, I was at the TCA game tonight. Unfortunately, I did not know about the Liberty/USJ scrimmage until a bit after 6. TCA had 36 players on the roster tonight. I believe the either 16 or 18 were freshman. Give TCA a couple of years and they could be a very nice ball club. In all honesty, I think TCA will win 3 or 4 regular season games this year and will be in a tight battle for the 4th seed come playoff time.
  13. Trinity Christian did in fact defeat Lake County by the score of 22 to 7 this evening. TCA recieved the opening kickoff and drove 72 yards on 14 plays with Houston Wells going off tackle for a 6 yard TD run. The opening drive took almost 7:30 and TCA looked sharp. TCA then recovered the ensuing kickoff and added a field goal to make the score 9-0 in the first quarter. Lake County had a nice drive of their own in the second quarter that was capped off by a quarterback sneak at the 9:38 mark of the 2nd qtr which made the score TCA 9, Lake County 7. Later in the second quarter, TCA quarterback Calob Yates threw a touch down pass and the half time score was TCA 15 and Lake County 7. The third quarter was scoreless and turnovers dominated the second half of play for both teams. Late in the game, TCA's Houston Wells intercepted a Lake County pass and returned it over 70 yards for the final score of the night. Lake County featured a nice option attack for most of the game until the tailback was injured. TCA made a couple of nice stands defensively late in the game, and deep in their own territory to preserve the win.
  14. Lake County will travel to Jackson to play Trinity Christian tonight as well.
  15. This game will be a "snooze fest" between two teams that truthfully are not very good. However, Perry County will win this battle of the "have nots"!
