ok ive read post after post about the west is better then the east. Yes some teams in the west are good and even great but lets split the state down the middle just like in the playoff brackets and take a look. Since the first BlueCross/BlueShield Bowl in 2000 the east has taken 18 of 25 games played (splittin teams in middle TN to the east or west side b/c of their brackets). Now in 5 years when you win 18 out of 25 state titles how are you the "weaker" side of the state????? the facts are their dont believe me look at them 2000 Champs- 1A-CPA(E), 2A-Alcoa(E), 3A-Portland(E), 4A-Maryvlle(E), 5A-RedBank(E) 2001 Champs-2A-Goodpasture(E), 3A-Austin-East(E), 4A-Maryville(E), 5A-Riverdale(E) 2002 Champs 1A-CPA(E), 2A-David Lipscomb(E), 4A-Maryville(E) 2003 Champs 1A-Boyds Buchanan, 3A-Fulton(E) 2004 Champs 2A-ALCOA(E), 3A-Fulton(E), 4A-Maryville(E), 5A-Riverdale(E) I mean cmon guys doesnt matter if ur East West or Middle TN football fan gotta give credit where its due......oh and obviously (E) means from the EAST bracket

I hope alcoa has a bye week when maryville plays Heritage so alcoa players and fans can sit in the stands and cheer maryvile and a fellow city school when the beat the ever lovin crap outta heritage cause usually unless Alcoa is LOADED the games between the 2 are close but if tellin ur players "hey we stink cause we cant beat a 2a team that has 5 maybe 6 state titles and is one of the top programs in TN so we're gonna drop them and play a bigger school so you can win and feel good bout urself cause gosh darn it thats what counts" then by all mean Heritage have a great time cause in the end you'll still be 1-9 and sittin at home in November like always. looks to me the only tradition thats not gettin broken in 2005 is Alcoa vs Maryville and Heritage not makin the playoffs

I totally agree especially when Austin Rodgers (who is very talented dont get me wrong) did nothing against Alcoa when Duck ran for 237yds and 2tds......Tremayne Garner had the same thing done to him in 2000 better stats and went father in the playoffs Defensive MVP of the Blue cross bowl but was passed over by David Ronska (who is talented also) but was nowhere near Garners stats......and Jonathan Meschendorf was in an all star game that same year but was added late because of injuries and Coach Meadows was the Def coord i believe

OMG if Maryville and Alcoa combined to make one school? Imagin havin a line like maryvile had during the '98 or '03 season blocking for Running backs Dustin Lindsey and Carl Stewart with Quarterbacks like Cade Thompson, Michael George, Nick Giles and Joei Fiegler...and defenses like '00 alcoa that gave up 6.3 pts a game or maryvilles the following years that did the same. Maybe some red and silver uniforms...humm think i could cheer for the Maryville Red Tornnadoes who wouldnt i mean after sat there could be 14 state championships between the 2 schools thats Pride Tradition and Excellence!!!!!!

WOW talk about flash back to my Freshman year in '98...should be a good game 2 GREAT teams but i gotta go with the family in this one Lipscomb-21 ALCOA-24...and teams/players/fans shouldnt run their bill on the boards..play the game on the field let the better team win and dont hate.....congradulate!!

Lets just make it easy... Let the county schools play each other and 5A teams and finish their year at 1-9 and let the 2 teams from the city that attract more attendance, more championships and more respect play at the begining of the year in their annual "Civil War" battle and decide who the best team is. Maryville and Alcoa are the elite programs in Blount County. Just cause it doesnt benifit Heritage to win/lose to Alcoa is BS...How does it benifit Maryville to beat alcoa? or how does it benifit Alcoa gettin killed (usually) by Maryville? It doesnt but they dont drop each other from the schedules... its a rivalry, its friends vs friends...foes vs foes but more importantly ITS TRADITION!!! something that was taught to me by a coach at a certain County school who i hope wont make the stupid decision that Heritage coach made. Next thing you know we're gonna stop seeing Tenn vs Bama, Oklahoma vs Texas or even my favorite Miami vs FSU. but i guess it doesnt matter as of now BC football is slowly being ruined by stupid decision. So come this time next year when Maryville is in the Semis, and Alcoa is in the semis, i hope Heritage is proud of there 1-9 rebuilding year and i hope Meadows and WB doesnt make the same mistake nothing more then id like to see then a 2A, 4A, and 5A state title next year

acutually its "Mosh" i believe but if you would know, Alcoas coach is coach MARSH so we call it the MARSH PIT there slick

I dont think Meadows will be leaving this time soon, i think he really enjoys blount county and i think he regrets leaving Alcoa, Alcoa was a good school to him (with the exception of a couple of people) but i think i would have left to to take a job with the Univ of Tenn football team, as much as i dont like them its one of the top teams in the nation who wouldnt want to expand their careers and try their hand in major D-1 college ball. so what ever coach meadows decides to do ill back him 110% (unless he goes to Maryville)

A-E was really hammered by Alcoa, although the score didnt show it East did not impress me at all, cant wait for tonight with another 1-2 match up between Alcoa n Maryville, another big chapter in the Civil War of Blount County

Seems as if William Blount Parents were really pushing for this, I think its great for William Blount and for Blount County. I played for Meadows while @ Alcoa and he is a great coach the players and family will like him more then Coach Philps (even though hes my family LOL )

Well its the 3rd straight year ive done this. I enter at a record of (8-2)...so here are my picks for this years games!!! 1A CPA over Boyd Buchanan 2A Lipscomb over Mitchell 3A Fulton over Ridgeway 4A Hillsboro over Maryville 5A Riverdale over Brentwood these are my predictions it you agree great if not oh well i dont care! Ive seen both play and ive seen both play in the past. I really think that sweetwater has it this year. they are big and 21 is a speedster. if anyone doesnt think he doesnt make a difference in a game watch when they played Alcoa last year...26-14 in week 2 35-28 (when he played) in the quarter finals..Sweetwater is going all the way and adding another State title to region 2-2a trophy case!!!

Heres a good bowl game..take the best players from the state championship teams in 1a 2a 3a and 5a and let them play maryville....hum prediction all stars-21 maryville-44 lol

Well first off congrats to Goodpasture and all schools that won friday night...after reading on here about all the new stuff planning to happen i hope goodpasture can dominate all they can cause they bout to go back to Div II and we know how they cant compete with those teams!

Their team is loaded with freshmen. There not as experienced as the seniors that left. Their time will come and they will soon be back on top.
