  1. Again, nowhere have I or anyone else "bashed" the officials last night. I just stated that I dont trust 1 official (in any game) and that outside officials would be great idea for future games.
  2. There's no whining being done. And for your information 2 years ago when Alcoa lost at Maryville the words out of my mouth were "I dont think anyone can beat a GQ coached team". I have the most respect for Maryville football team and their coaching staff. They are/were (however you wanna look at it) the definition of a "well oiled maching". You can take everything I say out of context all you need to make yourself feel better or start arguments or whatever you feel you need to do. 1) I never said the officiating was bad last night. 2) I want outside officials for big games (much like in the playoffs) and 3) I dont trust that certain sideline official in any games played by Maryville.
  3. Just let the record show not once did I say/type the officiating was bad last night. Just that I wanted unbiased officials for this game. Without mentioning any names but I think we all know that there is one official that is almost always on the sidelines that nobody feels comfortable with him over there.
  4. So you're saying when a ball goes between two uprights that its a miss? Got ya! So technically it was 35-28 last night right?
  5. I assume we're referring to the play where #4 kinda superman'd the pile close to the end of the game. I cringed when he did it. It was a borderline call to me. There were players/officials in my way so I didnt see if he "piled on" or just skidded as he went over.
  6. It was mentioned (by a Maryville fan) either in this thread or another one of the 5 AHS-MHS threads that the ref was reaching for the flag. From the position of Alcoa fans you cant see him reaching for the flag. It was clearly a false start though, even Stevie Wonder could see that. Im just glad it was called.
  7. Sorry sunshine, I only go to one Maryville game a year. Im just going by what I read here about "special treatment" I never said beyond a shadow of a doubt that it does or doesnt happen because I dont bare witness to it so please dont try to put words into my mouth. However, You might wanna ask William Blount fans about a certain Field Goal/Extra point.......
  8. Its not a this cost us that cost us deal. Its just generalized that the officiating is never good in this game. Ive wanted outside officials for years now. Alcoa fans spend half their games booing officials because they think we get bad calls and then for the rest of the season we hear other teams talking about how Maryville gets "special treatment" from Officials. Neither team deserves that. These two teams are arguably the premier schools in Tennessee and we should have biased outside officials. At least then you can say "Well it was just a missed call/good call" and not have to worry in the back of your mind "Hey isnt this the guy that royally hates Team A and is overly obsessed with Team B.
  9. I think I can speak for not only every Alcoa and Maryville fan but every fan of football, when I say I hope this rivalry continues to have close, hard nosed fought games. The past 3-4 years have really shown why Blount County is where the big boys play.
  10. I missed the call on the field goal so I cant give an opinion on it. The ref did seem to not want to throw the flag on the false start when the running back jumped before the snap. He seemingly just stood there and hoped nobody saw it until the crowd went into and uproar and then he threw the flag. The Pass Interference from eye sight alone looked like a penalty. In the stands it look like the defender got to the Receiver before the ball did in which...its a penalty. Also I still dont understand why we dont get outside officials for this game. Every year we see the same guy on the sidelines who is an absolute homer for Maryville football. He's made bad calls in the past and I hope he never changes the outcome of a ball game because of his homerism. Both of these teams are too talented and too respected to have that burden put on them.
  11. Its by far in the top 5 best Alcoa games Ive seen. I rank it as #2 in the Alcoa-Maryville games Ive seen right behind their 14-7 clash 10 years ago
  12. I can honestly say there were quite a few Alcoa fans that were a little bothered by playing CAK in the 2nd round. 1)Because we thought CAK deserved better and 2)CAK last year was a dangerous team. I still remember playing them in JV their first year in football. Never thought then they would develop into what they've become.
  13. Thanks Mr. Abbott, I didnt know about Yates having his number retired. For the record my jersey is unofficially officially retired as I took all mine with me when I graduated
  14. Thanks Stars and APB. I knew about Upton and Davis UT #s but wasnt sure about their HS ones. I completely forgot about Parker. I was for sure that Davis was 32 in HS but also knew I had seen 22 retired somewhere. I know 7 comes back into play next year as they're doing 2 year retirements from what Ive heard.
  15. Was wondering if anyone could give me some help on this. Ive been racking my brain for 2-3 days. Im almost positive that Todd Upton and Albert Davis numbers are retired. Im just not sure what they were. I was thinking Upton was #70 and Davis was either #22 or #32. Its been ages since I was in the school or seen the old trophy/display cabinets that were in the hall (which have been removed I believe). Can anyone shed light on this or other numbers? I know currently Cobb's #7 is in semi retirement until next year.
  16. I believe Goodpasture is 1-5 against Alcoa. With every game pretty much determining a State Championship. I wouldnt be surprised if GP never wants to see Alcoa on the field again.
  17. I could have sworn he was at the End position. Hopefully it wont be as bad as I thought then. Thanks for the info
  18. The key for a Maryville win is the same as every year. Passing. Take away the Run from Alcoa and make them pass. Ive always thought Alcoa has been an average to sub par passing team in the past 10 years. Also teams that can pass on Alcoa's secondary usually do damage. Every year we get at least 1 long pass play from Maryville that goes for a TD. Passing is the Key for Maryville to win. The key for an Alcoa win. Run the ball, Run the ball, run the ball and run the ball. Obviously to run the ball effectively you will need to control the line of scrimmage. Dominate the trenches like last year and keep the ball out of the Rebels hands.
  19. I think it will have a big effect on things. You double up on Warren and McGlothlin (sorry if I misspell his name) would terrorize the Maryville backfield. Now you're gonna have someone with less experience then Tyler at one end and probably a lot more double teaming of Warren (who wore Maryville out last year). Should be interesting to see who steps up for Alcoa at the End position.
  20. The most annoying thing is when you go to football games to support a team that you've supported for 20 years and you sit behind some players parents who are more interested in being part of the "social class" and then start to ramble on about all the great traditions of the school and then when you name off one of the most popular/all time greats from there their response is, "who?"
  21. White Station shocks the Tennessee football world in convincing fashion, as West Tennessee/Memphis has FINALLY gotten all the way over the "Middle/East Tennessee hump!" White Station's dominating performance over East Tennessee's premier team should serve as an excellent psychological boost and solid building-block for our Memphis/West Tennessee teams, going forward. White Station's brutal schedule paid off, big time!! -------------------------- Good job, Maryville. When did White Station play Alcoa??
  22. What hurt Milan the most (outside of turnovers) is the fact it seemed they felt they should run the ball constantly. Ill tell a secret that somehow teams havent figured out. If you have a decent QB and Above Average WRs and a QUICK passing game (Slants, quickouts, curls) you can do some damage against alcoa. Milan had a couple of passes for decent gains and then went right back into the run.
  23. YOu cant come on here and say stuff like that, come on. Be mature. Austin has worked hard all year long and your opinion like that is surely not needed. Sorry but I dont sugar coat things. I tell stuff exactly like I see it I dont care if its Milan, Goodpasture, Maryville or my own Alcoa. The best thing to do is to prove me wrong on the field.
  24. Crenshaw is going to be a player in the next few years. I expect him to do some big things on either offense or defense. He just has that look
