Lish pitched a great game both physically and mentally! She has really worked hard to be where she is at. She gave herself a great 18 birthday present! She kept Erwin guessing the whole game and that’s what you have to do against good hitting teams. We are really starting to come together as a team. The seniors stepped it up to show how hard they have worked to get where they are. Yesterday we played as a team. The bases were loaded with two outs when Kortney drove in Mandy and Kate to go up 2-0. The conference still isn’t over and we have to come out with our heads on straight next week against Volunteer and North.

As for teams being dirty, Basketball is Basketball. Its all about playing hard-nosed defense and putting pressure on the other team. I do recall being at the UC vs. HV game the other night and the Unicoi fans yelling "come on girls throw elbows" and as soons as HV pulled the ball through into triple threat the same man yells "Ref HV is throwing elbows." UC has a great program with tradition and great talent. The only thing that was dirty about the game the other night is the ignorant fans that forget this is only high school basketball!

His daughter was in a very serious car accident and she is now recovering. She has undergone a few surgeries. She still lives in Johnson City so Coach Pitts has been commuting back and forth from Nashville. She still has few underlying problems but is expected a full recovery in the long run. My family and I are to see her on Wedensday. Coach Pitts has been a friend of my family and a Coach to my Brother in the BACK-TO-BACK State Titles. Thank you all for the prayers for a dear friend of our family.

Coach Bayless has won a conference 865 varsity mens basketball games and has won a title in every mens sport at Happy Valley. At one time he coached the Baseball, Football, Track, golf, and Basketball teams. He is a remarkable man and I hope at 80 yrs old I am still able to run like he runs up and down the court with the boys at practice
