  1. No problem krich and Glee. Not that it matters that much. When you play like we did there's not much difference between 4th or 5th. Thanks for some good posts this year. Maybe we can talk a little more about the Lady Warriors next year (if we decide to work a little harder).
  2. Thought it was a great year for both Elizabethton and Unaka. Cloudland came up with some good games at the right time. Happy Valley and Hampton both were lucky to get the season over with. Don't see how you can rank Hampton over Happy Valley when the Valley beat them twice. Agree with the tie for number one. 1. Elizabethton 1. Unaka 3. Cloudland 4. Happy Valley 5. Hampton
  3. Sportiemom, don't think I know you. Just have read your posts on here and thought you always give a good perspective of what was truly going on with the Lady Rangers. Don't think you would know me either. Just a want to be who's always interested in the surrounding programs and what really goes on with each. Understand your reluctance to speak and will honor that. If you change your mind please give us the details from your point of view. Thanks again, hvwarrior. and krich, believe I would stay away. From what I've read don't think you would be able to handle her.....
  4. Sportiemom, thanks for the reply, but I would like to know your take on the game. Your perspective from a mom side and a basketball side have always been indepth and truthful. I know it is just your opinion but I would like to know it. I know your intent would not be to make people mad but just be truthful. These girls you talk about have accomplished a lot and will one day realize that. Anytime you fall short of your goal you have an empty feeling inside that can never be filled, but in time the good memories will help with this feeling. I have read the paper but they don't always give an true picture of what really happened. So if you can your thoughts and details of the game would be appreciated.
  5. A thought on Baughman playing at UT. It would be really nice if that was possible but we must be realistic. A major division I school looks for athletic ability and size. Rikki lacks in both areas. A great high player does not always make a great college player. Rikki has proven she can play and will do very well on the next level but at a smaller school and that is not a bad reflection on her. If heart and desire were the top priorities then she could play at a major school. She would have to come out and play on the perimeter where she would face a much quicker defender. Rikki will make someone a fine college player because she tends to make the people around her better. Again not a knock on Rikki just a realistic view.
  6. Just wanted to know some details of the game. Know that Sportiemom would give an open and honest opinion of the game. Know there is disappointment up on the creek but try not to let that loss overshadow a pretty good year.
  7. Sportiemom, please give us some details on the game. What happened? Think you would be objective enough to give some truthful insight of the game. Who played well, who didn't. Most people predicted a Lady Ranger victory. Was Coalfield better than most thought? Did the journey down there effect the team? Not losing in a while sometimes a team doesn't handle it very well. Did the loss against Cloudland hurt their confidence? Just a few questions looking for some answers. Thanks for the information. The Lady Rangers did have a very good year but always disappointing not to obtain a goal.
  8. Think Williams from Happy Valley would be at the post on the 1st team. Averaging a double double in points and rebounds. Would like to see some statics from the other players. Williams is not surrounded with the talent that Pietroswki and Roberson have to go along with them. Defenses are geared to stop her. Teams can not do this to Unaka or Elizabethton because of the perimeter game. Would have to give the 2nd team post to Roberson because of experience and seems to be a little more consistant. Picks: 1st team: Ensor - Unaka (one of the better point guards) Redd - Elizabethton (improved shooting enough to be here, can't question her defense) Weaver - Unicoi - (very good around player, well coached) Baughman - Elizabethton (seems to take over in big games) Williams - Happy Valley 2nd team Osbourne - Unaka (another fine guard they have) Lunsford - Cloudland (shoots it well and plays hard) D Ensor - Unaka (did I say another fine guard) Roberson - Unaka (think she could play the 4 spot) Pietroswkil - Elizabethton (imagine her and Julie both inside)
  9. Yes we have. And have gotten our tails kicked by both. So in our opinon they both are pretty good. Good luck CoachH on your new career. Don't forget us little folks back in the hills.
  10. O brut one, still think you are letting you heart (guess that's ok since it's valentine's day) get in front of your head. Records can be deceiving. Can't compare them because they are not with the same opponents. Just because one team only has one loss does not make them better than another team unless they play the same schedule. Granted Unaka is a very talented, deep and good team. But can't see how you can rank them above Elizabethton. Don't think you could rank Elizabethton above Unaka. But both deserve a #1 ranking. And sportiemother, just because a team has "challenged" someone doesn't make them better either. Can remember a few years back when the Lady Rangers were not that good. They didn't make that "challenge" then. I truly believe it would be in the best interest of all the county schools to try and play each other every year. But they have been times when the smaller schools couldn't compete with the larger ones. Then the talk was it wasn't fair for a smaller school to be playing a larger one. Give both the teams the credit they deserve. They have worked hard for it.
  11. Don't see how you can put Lick Skillet over Turkeytown. If they would only play each other and kettle it.....
  12. I didn't want to bring up the old topic of if they should play or not. Just the fact it is hard to put one over the other. Both teams are pretty good and it is hard to rate one over the other without looking at something in common. The fact about the state tournament does not apply because Elizabethton is in AA and Unaka is in A. If you rated the Carter County top five in A then Unaka would be at the top and if you rated Carter County top five in AA then Elizabethton would be at the top. Just was wondering what you were basing you rating on? Personal prefference, stats, watching each team play, knowledge of the game, coaching, what?
  13. everyone seems to be singing the praise of coach burkey.....he has been blessed with talent everywhere he has been.....but he has only been a head coach a couple of years....correct.....let's see how he does when he has lesser talent.....he might turn out to be the greatest coach of all time but true coaching comes out when you can take a less talented team and make them competitive.....and one day that will be the case in greeneville.....sure he does a good job with talented players.....and that is important they are lead in the right direction.....but let's hold off on all the praise and give him a few years then we can all sing and dance together....
  14. obrutone, Can't really see how you can put the Lady Rangers above the Lady Cyclones. Please give me some insight on this prediction. If you looked at common opponents Elizabethton would hold a slight advantage. Just because Elizabethton has lost a few more games wouldn't or shouldn't put them behind the Lady Rangers. Their loses have come at the hands of teams that would most likely give the Lady Rangers a hard time also. I could see both teams at the top. But just like ncaa football, we will never now unless they settle it on the court. Elizabethton matches up pretty well with the Lady Rangers. Unaka might have a hard time matching up with Baughman. Enlighten me please ole great brutsone......
  15. The Valley has been winning, but not playing very well. Wins at Elizabethton and Hampton, given it was on the road, have not been very pretty. Even the win at home against an undermaned Johnson County was not that impressive. Can they step up their game to take on the Central Cougars? Yes, they have the talent but will they have the desire? This could mean the conference championship, how will it turn out?
  16. bulldog, get over it. you have gotten on every Unaka thread and had nothing but bad things to say about the lady rangers. fact is your team got beat by them. period. nothing you say can or will change that. your team like my team will have to buy a ticket to get in and see the state tournament. the lady rangers made it by winning the games they had to. not like some other teams. so if you want to talk about your team, fine, start your own thread. it doesn't make you look very good when all you do is get on here and bad mouth the lady rangers. they won, you didn't and that is all that matters.
  17. bball411, I said that is how milligan does it and that is how it should be done. mr. tolley (Hampton) was a great player and probably was the "best" player in the tournament that year (in his division). it just depends on the interputation of the award. chambers was the most valuable player because he helped his team win. Cloudland's tolley just helped his team get close. no disrespect to him. so congrats to both players and their teams. besides if you look at what the tssaa does then you know milligan did the right thing because the tssaa hardly ever gets anything right.
  18. i agree hvhs shouldn't have gotten on this thread and talked about the valley. leave the comparison of hv and Unaka to another thread. Unaka and clouldland both have outstanding teams. everyone must realize what mvp stands for, most valuable player, not the best player. it's given to the player that has given his team the best chance of winning. which Unaka did. i'm sure if Cloudland had won tolley would have been the mvp. but they didn't so he did. a lot of the time the award is just given to the best player or the player that scores the most. a true mvp must help his team in all areas of the game. winining being the most important. that's what the mvp award is based on. at least that is what it is based on at milligan. most good teams could have a different mvp each night. collins being one at Unaka and byrd being the other at Cloudland. without each of these both teams wouldn't have been where they are now. chambers was most deserving of the award. sure tolley had a great tournament, all-tournament, but bottom line is winning in the tournaments. mvp should go with winning. as for the call, a call at the first of the game is just as important as one at the end but the latter gets all the attention. a missed or made free throw at the first is also as important as one at the end. could decide a game, which it did. at least this wasn't a do or die game. both teams will advance. both teams will have a chance to play again. both teams had better prepare themselves for a hard road at hancock county. good luck to both. look ahead not behind.
  19. not so sure it was how well Unaka played as to how poorly hv played. take nothing away from Unaka but hv didn't do what they need to do to be successful. Unaka did what they needed to do. coty is a fine talent that plays very hard. wish some of the hv players had her desire.
  20. last night's game did prove how valuable she (baughman) is to the cyclones. with her they built a nice lead. without her (fouled out) they almost lost a ten point lead with under 2 minutes in the game. according to the radio, had a very hard time getting the ball across half court when she left the game. sounds like they depend on her too much. others are going to half to step up if they are going to be successful in the tournament.
  21. no prefictions osu. no thoughts on tonights game. have set on the edge of my seat all day waiting for some insight from you. had to come looking. going to the game? could get ugly if hv plays like they have been. not looking for much of a change from the valley. get the little white balls out from what I've heard from them. Unaka by 15.
  22. if the real valley shows up it could be a 20 point game. if not then look for it to be pretty close. Unaka not playing very well right now. both teams are capable of not being very good or being really good. that's pretty scary at this time of the year.
  23. didn't they just get beat by Morristown East?
  24. are you all crazy? you say you only want what is best for this basketball team and you want them to be successful. wonder why they are not playing up to their potential? look in the mirror. it's one thing when a bunch of kids get on here and make fun of each other but when a group of so called adults do it then that will affect the players. they will listen to these, for lack of better terms, adults. coach ensor should tell each of you to take your computers and throw them in the creek. nothing can tear up a team quicker than a bunch of adults. if it was in private then that might be different, but you all are sharing it with joe public and each of these players. sure it is fun for them to get on here and read about others but when you all are talking about them then it is a different story. you all have started a cancer that might not be curable. this team has a chance to be pretty good if you all will let them. i am in no way contected to the ranger basketball program. just have seen this type of thing happen before. would really like to see them have a great tournament run and even if you don't want to admit it, this will depend a lot on you.
