  1. In looking at common opponents, Haywood and Bolivar, both Crockett and Liberty handled both rather easily as was expected. Where I have not been impressed with Liberty is in the first 2 playoff games against some pretty weak Memphis teams. Crockett however has been impressive in both of their playoff games. I'm looking for Liberty to run into a defense like they haven't seen this year and for the Cavaliers to pound the ball on offense controlling the ball just as they have all season. This one will be a good one with a lot of pregame hype but the Cavaliers will beat the Crusaders by a score of 35-21.
  2. I wouldnt go by comparing scores,,DHS was playing much better when playing CC than when they played Milan .. Also, the Milan Dyersburg game was 14-7 with 4 minutes to play in the third quarter. Milan did break a couple of long plays and then added one in the final minute when they could have been taking a knee.
  3. Congrats to Dyer County on the win tonight. Hopefully we can see Crockett and Dyer go at it one more time for the region championship. The 2 games Monday night should be good ones.
  4. In a game for the ages Crockett County came from 11 down with 5 minutes to play to beat Haywood County 64-63 on a shot by Ron Johnson as time expired. The Tomcats led the majority of the game behind the offensive power of Ricky Taylor who scored a game high 32 points and Kenneth Greer who knocked down 19. But it was the Cavaliers who had the last shot and with 6 seconds to play put it in the hands of Ron Johnson who dribbled around the right side for a 6 foot shot as time expired. Ron Johnson scored 15 in the game and brother Shaun Johnson led the Cavaliers in scoring with 18. Andre Theus and Cornelius Johnson both scored 11 and the Cavaliers beat the Tomcats in a thriller 64-63. The Cavaliers advance to the Region 7AA semifinals to take on Fayette Ware on Monday.
  5. Congratulations to the Covington Chargers...they just outplayed the Cavaliers tonight and deserve to move on. The Cavaliers had a great season, one of the most successful in school history, and should be proud of all they accomplished. Thanks to all the seniors for the memories...a combined record of 41-8 over a four year period, shows the dedication you had to the tradition that is "Cavalier football".
  6. The NWS revised forecast this morning has 70% chance of thunderstorms with winds 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 30. It may not be a small tornado but it will effect the Cavalier passing game. Maybe it won't blow until after 9:30 or so. Here's hoping for no small tornado!
  7. Last week the swami said "Crockett County 56 Frayser 0" and the final was just that. This week things get a bit tougher for the undefeated Cavaliers as the Chargers of Covington come calling. The NWS is predicting 70% chance of thunderstorms for Friday night and that could effect the Cavalier offense as it did against Haywood in week 10, however the weather can't possibly be that bad again this Friday. Look for the Cavaliers to come out running and gunning and for Covington to struggle on offense. The final in this one: Crockett County 28 Covington 7.
  8. It's going to be a cool night in Covington, great for football! The Cavaliers will win this one 28-7....and clinch the region championship.
  9. Final Score Prediction: Crockett Co. 35 Dyersburg 21 It's game time!
  10. Crockett Co 21 Milan 14 A tough one to open the season but a good one.
  11. The Cavaliers will not overlook the Knights. Cavs roll 28-7.
  12. Congratulations to Coach Argo and the team on a huge win for the Gibson County program. Keep it up!
  13. Dyersburg did look impressive tonight against Crockett County. Eakins is a great running back and caused many missed tackles by the Cavaliers all night. The two turnovers on kickoffs didn't help the Cavaliers situation at all. Not having Ron Johnson on offense hurt the Cavaliers but overall the Trojans just got the best of Crockett this time. A young Cavalier team will get better though and will use this game as one to learn from.
  14. This game will be a good one and the winner will have an advantage going into the rest of the region schedule. Crockett has looked tough early on and I'm sure Dyersburg is just as tough. I predict the final to be Crockett Co 35 Dyersburg 28 in a good one.
  15. Alberto Diaz has been nominated and should win the award for the second year in a row. He handles kickoffs, punts, PAT's and FG. 90% of his kickoffs go for touchbacks. Punting is not is strong suit but he is adequate. He has only missed one PAT this season and has kicked 12 FG's with a long of 52. I would like to know how that compares with the other two kicker nominees.
