Seems like the posting (in the Knox County teachers bulletin) for a new Head Baseball Coach @ Powell High School motivated the Panthers.

Billy Ray Duncan-now at Greeneville High School. Coach Duncan was at Seymour. He has dominated the IMAC and my team the Trojans- since he rode into town. Now with Coach Burkey taking part of the spotlight in Greeneville, Baseball Coach Richards as the AD, Coach Larry Hurst as a difference maker in the up and coming and soon to be dominate MO WEST program -he maybe looking to move. Coach Duncan (if that he who FAKEPATHER5) was refering to is a great coach.

Clay Young will coach Powell-at least 4-5 more years.

Kevin, TRENT, Steve--- Because of the new TRIBUNE web page setup-I am having a hard time finding as many articles as before. ? Does this mean that I am doing something wrong or are not as many stories posted on line ? ? Anyone else having the same trouble ? Thanks for the post & the update.

OH I agrre with you whole heartedly. Morristown West played Carter in a Hall of Fame Game and the next to last regular season game and I was amazed at the improvement mad by the Hornets. This was a hugh shock because the Trojans under the direction of the Legend Larry Hurst had made unbelievable leaps ---and I would have been willing to say had improved more than any team in East Tennessee that was until I saw Carter. Carter and Coach Mitchell amazed me with the improvemant they had made. KEEP it up COACH HURST-Morristown believes in you.

Coach Mitchell is a proven winner and a great X and O guy, great motivator, and will land on his feet.

It is all about Halls --after that does not matter. All the other treams will be up and down -depends on who is pitching. The #5 starter for Halls would be the ace of any other staff.

This would be a BIG shock. I saw the Trojans play Carter in a Hall of Fame game. Coach Mitchell did a great job @ Lenior City and his team improved all year long. Carter had only one senior -so I expect them to be even better next year. I understand that he has made great improvement to the locker room and the gym area. He has always worked his team hard over the summer.

His name is John Rice. He is a graduate of Morristown East. He worked as an AST. Baseball coach for a couple of years. Morristown hated to lose a great young coach to Knoxville and hope that he will return. He has a great mind for the game and will out work all opponents. They have my vote for #2 in the district behind Halls-this vote based on the coaching ability of Coach Rice. He played for Morristown legend RICHARD"HARRY" PRICE and work for "GRIFF". What more needs to be said !!!! ?

jlmiller57 Morristown was sad to lose Coach John Rice. I am a fan of WEST but know all that goe on @ East. Coach Rice had an exceelent playing carear @ EAST. Cam back and coached with GRIFF learned alot -had beem passed over a couple of times for the head job-just wanting to let him get some more coaching experience- EAST was burned a couple of years ago with a young hometown hero getting the head job too soon. John Rice will be the next head coach @ Morristown East. Karns will be at the top team behind the Red Devils.

Halls is stacked and then everybody else. 1 Halls 2 Karns new Coach John Rice M'town native 3 Oak Ridge 4 Powell 5 West 6 Central 7 Campbell County 8 Clinton That is what I think-what do you think.

Cocke County lost the girls and the boys game. I talked to a Cocke County player last night after they got back.

Sounds like someone should come up with a computer program-that could be used to calculate the better teams. I think the only way to tell the better team would be to watch more than a handful of games. Sorry

Any top 10 poll or AP top 25 or USA Today top 25 is all about getting people to buy papers. Just as the PREPXTRA player of the week is about getting hits on the wedsite. How many games has Drew Edwards seen? The Citizen Tribune (MORRISTOWN) has a vote in the state AP top ten. They usually cover JCHS, East and West and whoever those teams are playing. How should they know who to vote from from across the state. I put more stock in the CoachT sucess formula than anything. My guess is that most coaches could care less about the Prepxtra top 10. The prepxtra stats are all about listing as many names of players as they can- so mom and dad, grandma and grandpaw will buy a newspaper. NEWSPAPERS want to sale a paper-BIG BUSINESS ???

I know that a great coach can and does make a difference. The Morristown West Trojans are the most improved team in East Tennessee. West looks more like a team than they have since the days David Stump, Tyler Stockman, Boo Blevins, Bradley Bean from the early 90's . All because of Coaching.

Coach Hurst will have his team ready. BOTTOM LINE----yes !!!!
