  1. I would expect Rockwood to win this one. I know they are looking to get a shot at a rematch with Alcoa.
  2. I expect a better game than last time. Maybe it won't be a monsoon! Sweetwater and Alcoa, loser goes home, kind of reminds me of the old days. I'm sure some of you older fans know what I'm talkin about.
  3. Have you got an obsession with the 55-6 game that you refer to in about every other post? My psychiatrist tells me obsessions are not good. twitch, twitch I suppose we will have to wear that badge of honor until the guys can win a big game against a non Region 2 team.
  4. Congrats to the Rockwood Tigers. Way to represent the region. Good luck next week as well.
  5. As I understand the situation Dustin stays with Coach Reid during the week so he can get help with his studies. I know he stays at his home on the weekends. I haven't always been the biggest Maryville supporter either Moyers but I believe we can call a truce to our little crosstown rivalry and cheer each other on to bigger and better things. As I am a more than a little superstitious I am not ready to talk Gold balls yet but I do hope both Alcoa and Maryville can keep posting the wins and advancing. Rebelraider, I am definitely glad to have you in our corner cause you may be the king of talkin' smack. I mean that as a compliment. If we do make it to the big game look me up, I'll buy you a coke. I believe Mr. STARSNBARS can point me out.
  6. Alcoa didn't play their best but managed to win. May have been looking beyond what was expected to be an easy win. Hampton probably had something to do with that as they played hard and never gave up. Big Dawg and six, you guys have something to be proud of. I expect to hear good things out of you and your team next year in single A. Best of luck. thumb
  7. This is what happens when you start a thread this early.
  8. The number 4 out of AA Region 2 has defeated the number 1 out of AA Region 1 for the past three years. So it can happen. Based on that, Wartburg should give Gatlinburg Pittman a run for their money.
  9. I appreciate your attitude six. Give it your best shot and see how it turns out. It is the high school playoffs and should be enjoyed and savored. I know you guys have a tough draw but there are alot of teams sitting home this week that would love to trade places with you. Duck is Dustin Lindsey, Alcoa's tailback. He wears number 2. I'm sure you have seen him on film by now. Looking forward to having you visit Alcoa. It should be a great night for football. Take care and have a safe trip.
  10. AliceInChains is correct. Hall High was the Blue Devils.
  11. Hey Big Dawg..Did you mean to post the same thing twice? I'll be looking for #47. Hope he has a good game. Have a safe trip to Alcoa. STARSNBARS - Did Coatney really eat at Dick's? I thought he just went there to play poker.
  12. GP will have to play better than it did last week. As I hear it from the Greenback fans GP should have had a loss last week.
  13. The current system makes for some poor match-ups in the first round but it gives more teams an opportunity to play in the post season. For example, under the old system the Rockwood Tigers, who are ranked in the top 5 in AA, would be sitting home. As it is now Rockwood will get an opportunity to avenge their only loss of the year in the 3rd round, if both teams take care of business. This system is also a benefit to the TSSAA, who gets 50% (I heard) of the gate for another week of playoffs.
  14. Several things to cover here: 1. I checked my official unofficial source who tells me Duck tweaked an ankle a little but hasn't been held out of practice. So, much to the dismay of the Hampton fans, Duck should be ready to rumble on Friday. 2. FBE - That was a good one! What you want to bet Lander33 hasn't figured it out? 3. STARSNBARS - I'd say that free meal thing runs in the family. 4. Sweetwater - A pretty good football team when Latham is healthy. I have heard he has missed quite a bit of action but I'm sure he will give it a go on Friday. 5. Now about the weather, I hear there is a strong possibility of a Tornado warning for Goddard Field about 7 pm this Friday! thumb
  15. That's right STARSNBARS! Alcoa defeated Hampton 40-12 in the second round of the single A playoffs in 1979. It was a very physical game that was, at least it seemed, alot closer than the score. Ask your little sister, as I recall she skipped the Rebels game to go see the Tornadoes on the road. Let's hope the Tornadoes keep their focus as this doesn't look like it will be much of a game on paper. As I have said before, the game ain't played on paper and there are no second chances in the playoffs. Good luck to the Rebels and the Tornadoes as they represent Blount County. Let's hope it ends up like '78 and 2000.
  16. Not so simple. How do you explain Maryville's loss to MoWest last year? Did Maryville overlook a team they should have beaten easily?
  17. Alcoa has a real challenge in staying focused while playing teams they should beat handily. At the same time they must improve their game to be prepared to face Lipscomb, Tyner, or Goodpasture. Maryville faces the same situation. Since the Alcoa game the Rebels margin of victory has been around 37 points. These games are good for the younger guys to get some work. But, how do you make sure your first teamers are ready to go four quarters when they meet some stiff opposition?
  18. Good luck to the Roadrunners from Alcoa! We appreciate your support. If you would allow me to change the subject. Have you heard Alcoa and AE will play again next year?
  19. It will obviously be tough for Hampton to come to Alcoa and get a win. But, anything can happen. The Tornadoes have to prepare to play this game just as they have every other game this year. Good luck to both teams. You Hampton folks have a safe trip to Alcoa.
  20. Sorry, after looking back at the other posts the 1500 number might have been referring to the capacity for MHS. The enrollment information can be found at
  21. According to the info on the TSSAA site regarding reclassification for 2005, Maryville enrollment is listed as 1,351. This is tied with Humboldt for the largest school in 4A. Rather strange that this is a higher number than the first four schools listed in 5A.
  22. In region play Alcoa has scored 196 points and given up 19. I see more of the same. But, Alcoa better show up to play as you never know what can happen. Let's take care of business, put up the W and move on to the playoffs.
  23. We can throw it a little bit. We do have a decent quarterback and two or three decent receivers. I guess you would call it a ball control passing game as we throw to our big, slow tight end alot.
