  1. I was not making excuses, I was just pointing out a fact: Lipscomb capitilizes on mistakes. Heck yeah, I got a little defensive. I hate it when I get beat because I am competitive in nature and hate to lose. And about that throw to third, it was a combination of things. The problem was, I threw the ball about 85 from the mound to third and the third baseman, a sophomore, said he never picked it up. I should not have thrown it as hard as I did. I have all the respect in the world for Lipscomb and Ernie. I mean, obviously they are good and all or they wouldn't be in the state tourny. I guess they can beat good teams...they won the test and proved a lot of people wrong. DL really came on strong at the end of the year. Plus, I couldn't have given up four unearned runs in the first if I contributed, could I? We as a team messed up in the first and made errors that should have been three outs. All that crap in the first inning would have been avoided if we had just made the plays. If, if, if...you could do that all day. You pointed out a fact and so did I: that Lipscomb beat two good teams off a lot of errors. I am not taking anything away from DL at all. By the way, who are you and where do you play summer ball? Thanks for the good luck...I hope I can break into the rotation as a freshman.
  2. A note to TwittyCanes... When DL defeated Barett Brown greenbriar made 13 errors. When DL beat Josh Moffitt, MLK gave up 4 unearned runs in the first inning without a ball being hit out of the infield. With that, they do put the ball in play a lot and capitalize well. It will be a good test to see if they can beat someone good without the other team making a bunch of errors.
  3. To bobcats56: Thanks for the compliment. I do have a tendency to hiy batters occasionally because I work inside a lot. I hope it didn't leave to much of a bruise. ; ) To yo yo... I threw 137 pitches. I only had around 90 through 7...I guess a 10 inning game will really make your pitch count go up some. How many did you throw? Actually, I do believe that MLK will play Springfield in the District Play-in because I believe the District finished like this... 1. Greenbriar 2. Lipscomb 3. MLK 4. Macon County 5. Portland 6. Springfield 7. Hume- Fogg 8. Station Camp 9. East Literature If this is incorrect, please correct me.
  4. Thanks for the update on your arm and the details of it's status. We were all worried there for a minute.
  5. This is Moffitt from MLK... I did not used to really like Greenbriar that much, but ya'll have earned my respect this year. You have a very classy team, and my opinion has changed. After the game every player shook my hand and several of Greenbriar's parents had extended conversations with me about the game. I look forward to meeting Grennbriar again in the Distrtict Tournament. Josh
  6. Some of you people have serious problems. The kid is just playing the game like he knows how to play it. Why would you maliciously attack a player like that on a public forum?

    Bats

I have been using Omaha's all of my life. I had an Omaha Gold that lasted three seasons of school ball and summer ball. I currently own the.. Bat: Louisville Slugger Omaha Scandium XS Baseball Bat Price: $199.99 And this is my second season to use it. I have hit 6 homeruns the past two seasons plus numerous ones in practice. The bat still has plenty of ping and looks and feels great. I will be an Omaha user the rest of my life.
  8. He is not the only high school player to hit one out at Greer. When I was 15 and playing in the NBC World Series held at Greer, Brad Cobb from Goodpasture put one out underneath the guitar handle. If a sophomore in high school can do it...then I am sure the guy you are talking about is the only one to do it.
  9. MLK has two girls who keep the books, but we don't have "bat girls" per say...
  10. Greenbriar is the premier launching pad. It is maybe 290-300 down the lines and like 330-340 to dead center. There is a road behind the field so there is no room for expansion... Last year in a game between Springfield and Greenbriar there were six balls that left the park... three for each team.

MLK is 10-4 with 6-2 in the District. We play Hume-Fogg today, Macon Co. Monday, and Lipscomb Wednesday and then Greenbriar Friday. A tough week.

  13. It would be a waste of time, money, and manpower because such a small percentage of High School athletes use the drugs.
  14. The players got to play. By sitting out a few games in protest or whatever, only looks bad on them. Play under the assistant coach. It is not the players job to stage a sit-out. It is up to the administration to handle these things out. They are lettting this coach dictate their game. They need to not let a coach be bigger than the game, which they are letting him be right now because they are letting him dictate what is going on.
