  1. Yes, Doris Armstrong is still the D.Coordinator at Tha Wood, (which from this day forward it will be called), so you know he'll have the defense well prepared!
  2. K Deuce 54 You are WHO??? What have you done?, where are your stats?. What's up with Friday? Show Bowins to his face how good you think you are! He'll be wearin' #85, and guess what, if you've got the n*ts, line up at OT and try to block him!! Dats wassup! P.S. Go to bed at night, you're gonna need it!!
  3. Thomas Majors #1 from Maplewood has got to be mentioned as one of the top backers in the state. With Thurman from Tullahoma, tonight should be full of great LB play!
  4. Maplewood has a host of top prospects this year and for the next several years. You will be hearing about these guys: Seniors Courtney Grimes - QB Andre Beamon - OT Nathaniel Young - OLB DaLoa Brown - TE Michael Bowins - DE Juniors Terrence Holt - RB Purez Winstead - RB Tobias Austin - DT Sadaris Jones - LB Thomas Majors - LB Gio Brown - DB Corey Pendergrast - OL Sophmores Marcus Bowins - DE Dominique Howard - OLB Chris Simpson - DB DeShawn Thorpe - OLB Tyrone Vanlier - TE Freshman Markus Cantrell - RB Andre Campbell - DB Romario Cathey - DT Daion Glenn - LB Sam Hopper - LB Qutavious Parks - WR Justin Snelling - QB James Stone - TE Fred Waller - RB Deonte Newsome - DT
  5. They're fast and athletic with good coaching, but its still early, (see Hillsboro).
  6. I don't know how this one will turn out, but i do know some things Maplewood must do in order to slow down the firebirds. As with any Fitzgerald team, you must stop the run. No matter the QB or WR, Fitz WILL run the ball! The second thing they must do is put pressure on Mason at QB. They busted him up pretty good last year when he was a freshman. If they get to him early, maybe it'll jar his memory. The third thing is not to let the big WR Mason build up his confidence. No one will be able to match up with him size-wise, but Doris Armstrong is the DC at Maplewood; enuff said! The Panthers have a tough opener, no doubt, but on Friday night under the lights anything can happen! Do Not count the Panthers out just yet, the last few meetings have been suprisingly close, this is a rivalry! We'll know for sure around 9:30 p.m. Friday.
  7. Shelbyville? Speed!?? What kind of speed are you talkin', and whose got this "speed"?. Sure hope there are several that can run sub 4.6, cause otherwise that ain't speed!
  8. First of all, Patrick Johnson is no longer a part of the 2005 Maplewood Panther Football Team, but their highly recruited quarterback Courtney Grimes returns to carry the team. Second, how in the world are the schools outside of Metro going to keep up with all that speed? And do not say they will be able to play ball-control, power football. This is not basketball, that tactic no longer works. The more plays your offense runs, the greater the chance for a turnover, so nix the 20-play drive theory! Besides, the good ole boys are not the only ones growing 'em big! and the city boys are not just relying on speed, they are hittin' the weights hard!! The only way to slow them down is with local help from the zoo!(Zebras = Referees). Lastly, this bunch of juniors in the Metro Schools are the most talented group of athletes to come along in a while. The Gra-Mar kids at Maplewood played the Moore kids at Hillsboro in the city championship game as eigth graders. As freshmen, the juniors at White's Creek won the city championship, beating Maplewood in overtime 12 - 6 in the semi-finals of the playoffs, then went on to defeat Hillsboro in the championship game. I can not speak for the rest of the region, but from the Metro side of things it should be very interesting. The one thing that may be of concern for the Metro Coaches is that they beat up on each other, then lose to a county school and find themselves on the outside looking in.
  9. Don't know much about Tullahoma. What does Tullahoma have comin' back? How did they do last year? Type of offense/defense. Any changes on the coaching staff or coaching philosophy? Any bright spots from the freshmen team? With this info, I could tell ya better.
  10. I think it'll be interesting early on as the new personalities and styles feel each other out. But after a few tapes have been exchanged, things will really pick up. The playoff teams will come from the city schools in the region, with the exception of Stratford. Their new "coach" whatsherface Smith fails to impress me in any way, shape or form. That bogus defense he ran the last two years had just enough athletes to cover up its weaknesses. The offense Johnson ran and their special teams was the reason for Stratford's regular season success. When they got to the playoffs, the old adage proved to be their downfall. "DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!" So look for Tullahoma or Shelbyville to get that 4th place spot in the playoff behind Hillsboro, Maplewood, or White's Creek.
  11. Trey Blair, LB, Maplewood Jonathan Bass, ATH, Maplewood Courtney Grimes, QB, Maplewood (junior) Bobby Council, RB, Pearl- Cohn (junior) Sam Henderson, LB, Stratford Darrell Pierce, RB, Stratford (junior)]
  12. The top candidate for Mr. Football has to be Maplewood High School Linebacker Trey Blair. 6'1", 205 lbs., 4.5 in the 40, 70-plus tackles, 11 TFL, 7 sacks, 12 QB pressures, 4 caused fumbles, 1 recovery, 2 INTs, 6 PBUs (Pass Break Ups), as a junior. He's a sure tackler and when he hits someone, you feel it in the stands! Trey Blair has all the tools to play at the D-I level, although his size may warrant a move to Strong Safety. On top of all that, he carries a 3.3 GPA. Look for Trey Blair to take home the hardware this fall!!!
