  1. Alcoa will have Robert Frye backing up Cobb and will have Chris Shiverdecker and Darrell Tate to replace Dustin. They are both going to be seniors and they will also have Troy Hodge, an upcoming junior, will also see a lot of action in the backfield. Alcoa will have to work hard to replace this senior class this year, but I fully expect the 27 upcoming seniors to lead this squad. They are highly motivated and want to prove that the seniors this year are not going to be so missed that they cannot win.
  2. FBE, It is obvious that you do not like Alcoa, but Alcoa has just as many legit D1 prospects as Maryville does. No h/s ball is what collegeball and never will be, not even big, bad 4A like you are making it out to be. Kids have to work hard to adjust to college ball. Maryville and Alcoa are both great teams with great players and hard workers so please, for God's sake grow up and just say congratulations. Oh yeah, Maryville likes to dance and flex in the endzones too. They aint perfect like u may think.
  3. Well, first i would say that if somebody had you around the throat you would throw a punch too. Maybe your more controlled than that but i know i would have. And for Vita, you need to quit making ignorant, insulting posts about a high school football game. You are giving all the true alcoa fans a bad name. I don't know you but i would guess you never even played hs football. However, on the topic i don't believe alcoa being the number 1 team in the state is farce. Maybe their not, but they deserved to be mentioned in that conversation especially since the season is just getting started and talent is all we have to judge by. Two of the next three games will really test that talent though. See ya'll on friday at Goddard Field. Go Tornadoes!!!!!!!!!
  4. Yes, Brandon got ejected from Friday Night's game but the school is going to appeal is suspension for this upcoming week. As I understand from some sources that were at the game last night Brandon had just completed a play over by Hopkinsville's sidelines, and some of their players surrounded him. The guy that brandon was going against on the play grabbed him by the throat so he got the dude's hands out from around his throat and the referee saw it as a punch. Any person in that situation would have reacted the same way Brandon did in that situation, which is why the school is appealing the suspension for next week's game against Maryville

i don't think it matters how cocky the people from alcoa get, they will still make the playoffs. There is no way that four teams in their region could possibly finish ahead of them. However, i do believe that a team can be too cocky and get beat by somebody they shouldn't and i know that the guys talkin trash on here are not football players because those guys are humble and to busy in John Reid's weight program to post stupid stuff like that on this site. Maybe they won't go 15-0, they have one of the toughest non-region schedules i have ever seen. I do foresee another trip to the boro though.
  6. I can't wait for friday night. If Huntingdon is everything they say they are and they are as good as they were last year then this game should be awesome. I will be there supporting my boys from Alcoa, but i hope it isn't a blowout. Personally, as an Alcoa fan i want to see them play a team that is on there level because I am tired of watching blowouts where people can't even stand up to Alcoa. I want Huntingdon to be the second best team they play all year( behind Maryville of course) so that we have an interesting game to watch. Heck, we might even get to see the same game two years in a row because Alcoa isn't losing anybody next year. Looking forward to friday and good luck Tornadoes, Rebs, and Falcons. Alcoa---- 34 Huntingdon---- 28
  7. How is Dustin Lindsey not a finalist for Mr. Football. He is only two touchdowns from the state scoring record, and he has led his team to the state championship game. It just doesn't make any sense.
  8. Duck needs two more TD's to tie the state record for a season. I will be down there to watch my boys play. the job is not finished yet tornadoes. One more to the gold ball. Bring it home to blount county. I can't wait to have three gold balls back in East Tennessee. Go Tornadoes, Rebs, and Falcons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Duck is amazing. The performance I saw him put on last night against David Lipscomb was one of the best running performances I have ever seen on any level. I think it is safe to say that he got shafted by the selection committee for 2A mr. Football. He will be able to go just about anywhere he wants and he will at least tie the record next week in the boro. Good luck to duck and all the rest of the tornadoes.
  10. I played Rockwood five times in my high school career and they beat us a whopping one time. That just happened to be against one of the worst alcoa teams in years in my junior year. But i know the past doesn't matter that much but the present does. Look back through the season and see how many teams have come within even 20 points of alcoa. You will only find one and that is prolly the best team in the state and the only team to beat alcoa this year. It is ridiculous to think you even have a chance. but hey, it is football and you never know what is gonna happen Any Given Friday. Alcoa-35 Rockwood- 14
  11. I agree with RebelRaider. There is no way this game should be close. Maryville's defense is one of the best I have ever seen, and their offense isn't godawful itself. this one could get ugly. In fact, I see a repeat of 2000 with Maryville and Alcoa in the Boro. Good luck rebels. I'm gonna say 28-7 Maryville because the subs will give up a score late.
  12. As an Alcoa fan, i am really looking forward to knowing the outcome of this one. Patrick Turner is a huge threat for goodpasture, but im sure Tyner has something up their sleeve to try and slow him down. I'll be listenin for the score of this one while i'm watching Alcoa thrash sweetwater.
  13. Alcoa is as good as they think. If you don't believe me then let's look at one thing real quick. There is a team up in 4A this year that is ok i guess. You may have heard of them. I think the team name is the Maryville Rebels. I mean they are ranked #1 in the state and nobody in 4A has played them close. In fact, the only team all year that has even competed with them is little old Alcoa. Sweetwater beat Happy Valley 13-10. Get Serious. Do you know what Maryville would do to Happy Valley or Sweetwater? exactly, they would demolish them. So, Alcoa is as good as they think and they will be as good as they want to be. they have a ton of talent on that team and some really good guys. Alcoa by 3 TD's like I said in the other Sweetwater Alcoa thread.
  14. I think this game will get out of hand but not because the sweetwater coaches are incompetent. It will get out of hand because Alcoa is just better. If you remember, two years ago sweetwater basically whipped everybody and nobody was complaining about the coaching then. The coaches know what they are doing because they have had winning teams before and it isn't like sweetwater is terrible now. They are in the 2nd round with a game to move on so lay off the coaches just a little bit. I am going to go with a modest prediction though. Latham will get hurt just like he does every time he plays alcoa, and alcoa will win 21-0.
  15. First things first. There are three rounds of playoffs before this game should ever be thought about. Now, last year's game was a completely different story. The Alcoa team wanted to play on Friday. We begged for them not to call it off but that is something completely different. This is the same Alcoa team with one more year to grow in the weight room and a 55-6 loss in their minds. They haven't even been talking about the boro mostly. They want a rematch with lipscomb and that is it. Hopefully, it happens because as a senior on last year's Alcoa team it would be great to see those guys finish what we started last year. Go Tornadoes!!!!!!!!!
  16. Speaking as a former alcoa player, there will be no lack of motivation on the Alcoa side of the football. Believe it or not we loved to beat rockwood more than any other team in region 2. When meadows was there, it was the only game he cared about, and when he left the ones that were still there fed that hatred to the new guys, this year's juniors. rockwood may be 5-0 but that was there record last year at this time and my alcoa team that was 2-3 came in and laid it to them for 48 minutes. this year's game is going to be even worse. alcoa by at least 3 touchdowns.
  17. Tomorrow both teams will come out ready. It will be a fast-paced, hard-hitting football game. Come enjoy the game yall. Cheer on the Tornadoes. ALCOA LOVES OUR FANS SUPPORTING US!
  18. dude your mighty brave talking smack before the first game. Wait til after the first game and talk crap then if you got the guts. If you were at our practice and you want to talk about it then tell us who you are.
  19. Alcoaboi i see u reppin Alcoa, but u say u been to the practices.....who are you?......because i am always there too.
  20. This is all b/s! Orangecrush don't know what he is talkin about. Practice is something we take serious in all sports at Alcoa, but when you are practicing against bags and crap then how can you tell how good a team is. Alcoa is going to be tough this year, but we will find out tomorrow how good they will start out. I fully expect a W on the cards for Alcoa. Now stop arguing, season starts tomorrow! Argue after the game!
  21. what does everybody think about them moving the jamboree up a week. I personally think its a great idea because we will get to see the varsity teams play instead of the jv and everybody can have a bye week in their regular season. what does everyone else think.
  22. not a good idea for two reasons. 1. the fans dont even fill up the mtsu stadium so why would you move to a bigger stadium. AND 2. it wouldnt be fair to have the state championship in east tennessee because the west tennessee fans would have to drive way to far to see their team play. it is good where it is in a big enough stadium in the middle of the state. Dont fix something that isn't broken.
  23. The reason everybody thinks the ACC is deeper than the SEC is because it is. The SEC has lsu and georgia(mark richt came from fsu by the way) but that doesnt make it a deep conference. i would put every ACC team in order against every SEC team in order and i would be willing to bet that the ACC would win at least 10 of 11. but on the topic, Cade is an excellent capable of quietly picking your defense apart. that is the reason everybody is questioning him is because he has never been in the spotlight before. 2002 he played with Carl Stewart and in 2003 the spotlight was given to Hodge and McCord. he had stellar seasons both years but was never in the spotlight. This year it is his show and i have a feeling he will show everybody that he is D1 caliber.
  24. i have to disagree there. you are probably right about the talent level dropping off in basketball except for justin ridenour who could be a D1 basketball player. however, the talent level will not drop off in football. Rae Sykes will still be there. 3 of the 5 linemen will still be there. the Defensive backs will be there. Darrell Tate will be at rb. the d-line is running 7 deep this year with 3 sophomores. the only real question marks will be linebacker and QB. so will some talent be gone, sure. but a lot of it will still be there. Alcoa football should definitely be on top of the region for years to come and with coach reid workin the boys in the weight room there will never be a shortage of players.
  25. Let's get one thing straight Alcoa's line was good last year. A good blitz scheme could not mess up the pass threat. I know most people won't know this but from the william blount game which was the fourth game of the season all the way until sweetwater in the playoffs and then we only gave up one sack. so in 8 games we gave up 1 sack. and dustin lindsey ran for 1200 yards and he didnt do it by himself. The line from alcoa was good last year and has the ability to be even better this year even without me.
