  1. Flip a coin, if she wins let her pick. If you win, DEFER!
  2. That's Satterfield for you. While what he did wasn't illegal, it does fall into that area of being unethical. He is certainly at home in that area!
  3. I was surprised by how few Hillsboro fans showed up for the game. Except for the muddy field, it appeared to be a clean game! Hillsboro has a very good punter too.
  4. Have bought some gore-tex and thinsulate clothing, it needs to be broken in!
  5. I will protest in another manner. Any solicitations or fund raisers involving public schools will be unceremoniously turned away.
  6. How many students turn down a recruitment offer? Why don't all students turn down these offers? Tell 'em to just say no!
  7. Anyone remember an Eric Locke? Conveniently moved from Cookeville to the 'boro. It's a good thing the boosters were able to find a house for his dad to rent. Found him a job too at a local Ford dealer to shuttle customers when they brought in their vehicles for servicing. Durn good thing they didn't resort to "recruiting", cause we all know how un-public that is. Shelbyville girls basketball team is pretty good. Surely they don't "recruit"! One of the best intra-regional student exchange programs in the state has Maryville and Alcoa as charter members, among others. We all know that comparing a student exchange program to recruiting is like comparing private to public. Melrose had a student exchange program too, but due to a pre-exchange community party, their program was suspended. Next time they should celebrate after the exchange, that way it won't look like a bribe. Let he who is within sin cast the first vote!
  8. Maybe the T$$AA should have allowed a voting multiplier for the private schools. The private bashers are eager to bring up the multiplier issue for other things. Why not include voting? Wouldn't it be easier to "vote" that all private schools begin their season with 5 losses?
  9. How true. Several public school administrators have made their student body "smarter" by use of a grading curve that resembles a spirograph drawing. Now they are making their athletic programs "stronger" via majority voting. Well if we can't beat 'em we'll vote 'em out! Gee, they are "smart" and have all the answers, just not the right ones!
  10. Scared? No. Tired of losing to them on a consistent basis? Yes. He didn't mind the whipping his team put on Clarksville Academy a few years ago in the state finals. Satterfields' philosophy: If I can't run with the big dogs I'll move to a different neighborhood! While most will cheer for the 205 quitters, I will applaud the 81 fighters!
  11. Someone mentioned earlier how the Nashville public schools have faultered. To be fair I'm sure that not all of the Nashville public schools have faultered. Metro Nashville has started its' own brand of a have and have not education system. Enter the magnet schools. Oh, let's not forget the "alternative" schools. Like most issues that cannot be addressed with firm decisions, the local government officials prefer to spend money to come up with a new label for a problem. I know of one 4A that fought with Springfield, where its' summer school enrollment would lead one to believe that metro Nashville has implemented year round schooling! I have and will continue to pay through the nose to provide a quality education for my child. I've had a family member who was a guidance counselor for metro Nashville tell us to avoid metro public schools for our daughters' education. A friend once said he doesn't mind paying taxes for education, even though he has no children. His reasoning was he would rather spend money on schools instead of prisons. A noble and intelligent thought, in a more perfect world I would agree. White House has better football field facilities than Davdison Academy, well except for the score board!
  12. The T$$AA is a public school system monarchy. I requested some information on how the schools voted in regards to the Private schools being moved to Division 2. The response was: > From: tssaa@tssaa.org > Date: 2002/11/13 Wed AM 08:13:14 EST > To: > Subject: Re: FEEDBACK FORM Private Schools and D2 > > Richard, > > All we have is a breakdown of East, Middle and West. We would not be able to tell you which individual school voted for or against the proposal. > > Shonnie Speicher > > > Now if all these public school administrators are not afraid to stick out their necks on this issue, let's have a name to go with these necks! Or maybe there are no names on these necks, just feathers? I know how some voted, but I want to hear some more clucks!
  13. At least one private school is doing that already and it includes the entire student body. Private schools are no different than public huh? Well there are 205 school systems (the majority being public schools) that think they are! The entire school, faculty included should take the golden flow test. That's how we did it in the military, everyone gets tested. [Edited by APhool on 11-13-02 8:06A]
  14. Well I do like free stuff and good football. I'm there!
  15. I'm sorry I missed you, between the game and keeping up with my 13 year old daughter I was busy! Congrats to Tullahoma, like I said in another thread, I wouldn't be surprised if they make the finals. They have a solid team! I live in Nashville and will be going to the Tullahoma/Hillsboro game. [Edited by APhool on 11-10-02 8:30P]
  16. Well I for one wouldn't be surprised if they did. Tullahoma has a solid team.
  17. Tullahoma played a good game, they sure do have some fast D, #45 is impressive!
  18. At our 20 year reunion I was voted "Most Changed". I attributed that distinguishing award to 20 years, 50 pounds and work related stress. I usually recognize faces, won't even try initials! [Edited by APhool on 11-8-02 10:55A]
  19. Does anyone have a list of the voters and how they voted that they can share with us?
  20. I intend on being at the game tomorrow night too tk6under, find me and I will buy you a burger and a coke at the concession stand. I will be wearing my favorite black army rangers cap with a BlackJack military style patch on the front of it.
  21. I graduated a year after John Hall, that fellow had one heck of a throwing arm!
  22. This matchup is closer to what I would like to see in the playoffs, teams with above .500 records. I guess if the first two rounds were really that important, the T$$AA would call them something else besides, "early rounds"!
  23. I'll tell you why the other states don't complain like they do here. One word, crybabies! I would say the other states public schools do not fear the dark force of the evil recruiting private schools. Why try to meet a challenge when it's easier to whine? Besides, being rocked by a 8'10" recruitee hurts a heck of a lot more than a little old pout session. The work ethic most speak of on this board actually belongs for the most part to the private schools and those that support them.
