  1. Congrats to DCA on a fine year! thumb
  2. Ya'll win Saturday and worry about us later! thumb
  3. Right, it's a double edged sword. It benefits no one and it should be done away with. After all it's just high school sports, not some big money making machine ( except for T$$AA ) and besides, why would they care? No it is there to protect the system. After all it's just high school sports, not some big money making machine ( except for T$$AA ) and besides that they need it! Keep voting!
  4. Freddie Mercury's twin brother frequents this site? Cool! The 80's are back baby!
  5. He must be standing a little too close to those inactive cooling towers!
  6. Is UT interested in him? I'm glad the finals are on TV! They'll be serving beer and hot wings where I'll be sitting!
  7. Wow Stan...now that`s the spirit. Let`s have private schools keep moving up until they get into a division that they can`t win half their games. Amazing concept Stan. I love your rational thinking sense of fairness. VG VG, We all know the privates work so much harder and have more dedicated coaches and parents, right? 4a and 5a shouldn't be a problem for them. Uh, wake up. The 4A and 5A schools helped orchestrate the split in '97.
  8. Just playing a game isn't enough, winning means a lot to some people. Someone once said, "If a million people said a stupid thing, it would still be a stupid thing to say.". Translation: If 205 administrators voted for a stupid thing...

One would think that when an individual re-edits his message, the grammar and spelling would be correct. "I weep for the future." - Ferris Bueller's Day Off I'm sure it will be a good game!
  10. The more I think about it, a complete split between private and public schools is probably best. Afterall, who wants to play against teams that cry enough to fill the Cumberland whenever losing to a better, er I mean private team? And to think I chose private school because I thought the public environment was too harsh for my daughter! Looks like I got it backwards! There seems to be a plethora of sensitive students in the public systems!
  11. Hi John, hope you are doing well. When are you going to make a return visit to a White House game? Richard Pope class of '77
  12. Does that bother you? ___________________________________________________________ M'ville isn't the 9th best place to live according to CNN.com
  13. This is an information and entertainment forum. Treat it as such. If what you read bothers you, then simply ignore the message. ________________________________________________________ Maryville, the land of "OZ"! The best Open Zone 4A recruiting system in the state!
  14. I graduated from White House and overall it was a good experience. However, that was many years ago and the school environment as a whole has changed tremendously, especially in Davidson County. If I'd decided to stay in Sumner County then my child would be attending White House. My tax dollars doesn't entitle me to pick a public school to send my child to, so we decided on DA. Some of the advantages I like are smaller classroom sizes and a more disciplined and structured learning environment. Nashville threw these two advantages out the window over 30 years ago, all in the name of progress. My daughters' athletic skills are very good, a lot better than mine! But when going through the interview process, no one gave us a tour of the athletic facilities and no tuition discount for her basketball/soccer abilities. They just showed us the classrooms, library, cafeteria, etc... Go figure!
  15. Excellent article! It should be required reading for at least 205 T$$AA members!
  16. Gatlinburg-Pittman Trousdale County Marshall County Covington
  17. Private, open zone and charter type schools in one class. The rest, placed in a three class system.
  18. They just don't get it! How many public 1a, 2a and 3a schools are in Davidson County? Why are there so few? Who is to blame for this? Can't blame the private schools for this fiasco! The metropolitan government eliminated the neighborhood schools. If 4a and 5a size schools is the answer for a better education, then why isn't there at least one in each county? It shouldn't matter how far your children would be bussed if it resulted in a better education! Right?
  19. I must not be doing something right. I try my best to throw gas on the hot topics here, but I must be throwing water. Private schools rule, public schools drool!
  20. 12 I will enjoy the superior facilities, atmosphere and courteous fans!
  21. 1) If there was no tuition required by ANY school, public or private, would you send your child to the public school that he/she attends, or select the private school that you believe currently has the unfair advantage? The main advantage I see would be sending my child to a small school environment. 2) Because publics do not charge tuition, do you believe that an athlete not having to pay tuition at a private school is an unfair advantage? No. Most of us are paying taxes, part of which goes to public education. This "tuition" is paid by everyone, whether or not you have children in school, even if they do go to a private school. 3) In a comparison of a public and private such as Hillsboro and MBA that have very good athletic programs, why would you believe that it is unfair for MBA to offer the athlete a so-called "free ride"? I don't feel it would be unfair. Reimburse me for my tax dollars going to public education, then maybe I'll change my mind.
  22. Can't win if you don't score. Maybe it was raining too much! A pseudo private school against the real thing! Ain't nothing like the real thing baby!
  23. If Satterfield could move his home game to another location without telling the visiting team to force a forfeit, he would. A little water never hurt anyone, just do it!
