  1. Whose decision is it to play on Wed. nights? I wish they would not have the games on Wed. Some of us have commitments at church and cannot see the games. I don't remember ever playing on Wed. when I was in high school. College was a different story , we played just about every wed.
  2. Ricky Lowe QB from Coalfield signed
  3. I think they were trying to distract my boys from OS before our game. I was doing my pre-game pep talk getting my boys fired up and then all of a sudden their focused changed b/c 2 high school girls were standing behind us yelling at some of the boys. And we all know how disturbing that is for 9-10 yr old boys. LOL Luckily the boys overcame the pressure of high school girls and won the game.
  4. Very good post!!! I couldn't agree more
  5. CCHSJETS : I don't know what your problem is with OS but as a former basketball player, I don't like being labeled and called a punk and how you keep saying people from OS are going to get it one day. Just b/c one person makes comments about OS or other teams please don't label the whole community. I am very proud of OS for winning the region and county championship, and it is so sad to hear people get on here and complain about that and then try to accuse them of cheating by giving bad blows or cheap shots. Well you know what, I took a lot of cheap shots on and off the court by other teams. And like so many other players in all sports , you keep on playing and when the fans see soemthing like that they usually end up giving the other team a hard time. And I see why? Just b/c a team is better or it is a rival game doesn't give players the right to take cheap shots. Knowing some of the fans at OS I cannot imagine them cheering when a players was done. But I was not there and I assume OS has "punks" just like every school in this state. It only takes a couple fans to make a school look bad and so please don't judge OS on a couple or few "punks" I think OS fans are not liked b/c they simply love their sports and cheer and support their team no matter what kind of season they have. So please think before you judge all people from OS. I am not judging you and have nothing against CCHS, but I could make an assumption simply from reading your posts. I just hate it when people cannot let it go b/c a team has a good season and wins the region.

    Kingston @ OS

OSHSman, Seems like Both the QB and RB turned the corners. Their QB is one of the best I have seen this year. RCHS got killed on the corners the entire night, I think I could have beat them if I was out there in my tennis shoes

    Kingston @ OS

IF OS running game is as good as Scott Co then they should have no problem with RCHS. Scott Co killed RCHS once they got to the outside and turned the corner. I don't know if Scott Co is that good or if RCHS made them look that good. You would think RCHS would have figured it out after a few times after getting burnt so bad on the same plays.
  8. Ok. I think everyone is ready to move on [Edited by KandiD on 3-30-03 10:23A]
  9. If I am correct Ruth came to RCHS 96-97 and was assistant to Gaston. I think she then became head coach in 97-98. Can't remember right off my head. I became her assistant in 99-00. What does it matter now? I talked to Ruth Friday night and coacht and the OS thread came up in our discussion and she just wishes her name would be left off coacht and she could be left alone.
  10. In reference to an earlier post, I want to ensure that what I said was not misconstrued nor was it directed at anyone in particular. My point is that we live in a competitive environment where young players are expected to perform at a high level. We sometimes give praise to those who exceed expectations while overlooking others on a team for their contributions. It is a delicate balance to have players think team first and realize that the group's success is more important than their own. What everyone must realize is that when a team does well, everyone benefits. Efforts should be made to not only praise a player who performs well, but to also praise the team's contributions. Everyone has a role to play and athletes need to know that their efforts are appreciated. Again I stress I was just talking in general and was not referring to any certain individual or any team. I was referring to basketball on any level - from elementary thru college. So I hope this makes that clear to anyone who misunderstood. I would not get on here and degrade any person especially a student. Thank You By the way Good Post Coach Cupp!
  11. Matt, I was not talking really about media coverage. I think you and goose do a wonderful job and am not taking anything away from you all on media coverage. More along the lines of conversations amongst people and not just talking about Roane County either. I think Roane County News Sports is great coverage and it isn't biased towards one school [Edited by KandiD on 3-24-03 2:13P]
  12. It saddens me to look at teams now and see how selfish they are and how it shows in their play. It seems athletes and adults are focused more on individual then TEAM. I get tired of seeing one student praised and praised about how great they are but it takes 4 other people on the court to make them look successful. You never see a team win championships with just one or 2 talented players. No one remembers if so and so scored 25 pts in a game but they do remember the TEAM that won the district tournament or region or state. At Kingston we won the distict tournament but I can not tell you who scored the most points or was named MVP, it didn't matter, the TEAM won. I would gladly take back all the points I had in high school just to have made it to a state tournament 1 time. So until we get back to team ball and dedication and sticking through the tough times together then I pray that all coaches can find the energy and strength to stay focused on teaching kids the love of the game. I will get off my soap box now and eat my lunch! Thank you for your time
  13. To runningthet :I do not know what loop you are referring too but I will inform you i am in no loop and never have been. I like being out of the loop [Edited by KandiD on 3-24-03 9:44A]
