  1. Special exception is made if it is a family member wearing the number, otherwise it is held for five years if they win Mr. Football. Since Darrell and Brandon are cousins, Darrell was allowed to wear it.
  2. It is always a possibility for CAK to win. That is why we play the games. I know for a fact that no one directly involved is resting on past achievements. And as someone who has had the best seat in the house (which isn't a seat), let me tell you that CAK is a very physical team and the don't give up after they have been hit a few times. It will be another good game and I will be pulling hard for my Tornadoes.
  3. He is in Junior College in Coffeyville, Kansas. Last I heard, they are going to redshirt him this year.
  4. Alcoa won--5-0. Congrats Lady Tornadoes, good luck in the Burro!
  5. The scrimmage is supposed to be at 5pm at Catholic on 5/18. There is also a scrimmage with Austin-East on 5/12 (Friday) at Alcoa at 4:30. Several of those returners will probably not be there due if they qualify for state in track, and also those playing soccer will not be there (Thompson, Stultz, Thatcher, Dossett, etc.). Many of the guys play multiple sports.
  6. The game is supposed to be on radio. WBCR is going to go with Alcoa.

    Best Gloves?

Gotta be A200- best catcher gloves, and my infield gloves still feels great after years. just a little care and I think they'll last forever!
  8. I am going to have to agree that hand timed 40's are not all they are cracked up to be. There is way too much room for human error, unintentional as it might be, it just isn't accurate. And we need to talk about times here for a second, 4.4 is fast, 4.5 is fast- but when we start getting into 4.57-.59-- that isn't 4.5-- it's 4.6....there is a difference. And I will agree with another poster- flat out speed is good, but footwork and agility to be able to use it is so much more important.
  9. no- I wasn't actually suggesting that you smoke crack per say- but that the notion that there are athletes running 4.1 forty times is that absurd. I apologize if you thought I was referring to you as a drug addict, but the thought is preposterous.
  10. Ankle weights are BAD! that is the best way to tear up your ankles and knees. Best bet is to find a CSCS who can help you work on your running form and give you exercises to help strengthen your CORE. To be fast you will need strong quads, hammies, glutes and abs. Exercises like lunges, squats, and rotational ab work will help you to get faster. Running the stadium, hills, and jumping exercises (plyos) help build explosiveness. Find a strength coach, spend the $ to be trained the right, safe way. The pay-off will be well worth it, I assure you.
  11. you are all smoking crack- there in absloutely NO possible way anyone is running 4.1--- NO WAY. The fastest man in the world (100 m olympic champ) ran his first 40 split in just under 4.3. The physics of running and acceleration state it is impossible to accelerate to that speed in such a short distance. The biomechanics of running and acceleration limit how fast a person can get to top speed. 4.1 forties-- only if they are flying forties.....
  12. Hampton should fair well in 1A next year. They played their hearts out at Alcoa on Friday night, and never quit. They showed a lot of class, both from the coaches and players. You all are a credit to your community and families. Good luck next year. Go Tornadoes!
  13. Alcoa may have quit last year after a little adversity, but I don't think that will happen this year. They could have thrown in the towel against Maryville after the score going into the half, but they didn't. They came out in the second half and played their hearts out, even though they came up short. I am not saying they will win, but anything can happen. It is a much more mature Alcoa team this year than last, and they have their sights set high. Whatever the matchup, I expect it to be a hard fought game. I would expect no less than that in the playoffs. But, and yes, I am a Tornado fan, Lets not get ahead of ourselves. We are taking the games one week at a time. Coach Reid is not letting this team overlook any team, regardless of their standing. But I can tell you this team will be prepared every week, because they are coached to be. Good luck to all the teams the rest of the season.
  14. Alcoa didn't look bad. Had too many penalties. Pass blocking needs to get better to give Joei a little more time to throw the ball. Run blocking was very good--Dustin had some good runs as did Darrell Tate. Alcoa scored once on Fulton, who looks very tough this year. They have a lot of weapons. Defense looks really good overall. A few missed assignments cost them and a missed tackle that would have been a big loss ended up turning into a score for Fulton. Ray-Ray and Brandon looked good at the ends as did Bobby Keller. Alex Green did a good job at the corner even though he was against bigger kids. He also made a couple of good catches at reciever. Alcoa has some things to work on, but looked pretty good. Fulton should win their region again this year, but I'm sure AE will give them a good run. Good luck to all the teams this year.
