  1. Our prayers are with you from Elizabethton High School. May God grant you the strength and peace to get through this trial.
  2. Well, well, well. A trip across the double bridges wasn't much different from the game across the street from WalMart (notice the spelling!) I've always heard a bulldog would eat anything so be careful eating that crow, I would hate to see you choke on a bone. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  3. UC21 - Sounds like to me your feathers got a little ruffled when you got beat the other night. I'm not taking anything away from you guys. I think you have a great program and a lot of tradition over the years, but accept it, you just got beat. And as far as you saying "you really wouldn't want to see that team get in trouble, just someone who cares", that sounds a little strange seeing as you went to the trouble to supposedly email TSSAA and then you post it on a message board. Doesn't sound very caring to me. I guess we need to check with TSSAA about parents hollering from the sidelines to keep your head in and weight back while batting. I guess this could be considered coaching from the bleachers too. To the guy that has the ill feeling towards the coach, what you need to realize is that it was probably a good decision that you moved your daughter to a weaker 1A conference where she got plenty of pitching time that she never would have gotten at this 2A school.
  4. That's hillarious! Good ole KRich, I bet you could turn a sweet tart into an M & M!!! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  5. 1) Unicoi County 2) Elizabethton 3) Happy Valley 4) Unaka 5) Hampton 6) Cloudland 7) Johnson County With only the loss of one player, Bennett, from last year, Unicoi is still the team to beat. I think Elizabethton has a shot at it but Elizabethton took a bigger blow to graduation than Unicoi, though Elizabethton does have a lot of young talent. Until Elizabethton beats Unicoi, I have to put Unicoi above them. Statman3, Elizabethton rescheduled all games this week due to spring break. GO CYCLONES!! Don't just be proud, be thankful!
  6. Jaws, Yes, Mary is in her senior year and doing really well. She pitched a great game against West Greene at the first of the week and she's been killing the ball, especially for her size. She's been playing mostly outfield because of her speed but is also an excellent 2nd baseman and shortstop. GO CYCLONES!! Don't just be proud, be thankful!
  7. Lady Cyclones get big win over South Greene 2-0 in 9 innings. Summer Smith did a great job pitching and the defense played great. Our bats could have been a little better but their pitching had a whole lot to do with that. Good job ladies, let's just take it one game at a time. GO CYCLONES!! Don't just be proud, be thankful!
  8. Games have been canceled because of weather. Big game coming up tomorrow. Elizabethton travels to South Greene. South Greene did beat Unicoi and we beat South Greene in the season opener so this is REAL big. Sounds a lot like girls basketball, huh? I will let you know the outcome tomorrow night. GO CYCLONES!! Don't just be proud, be thankful!
  9. Lady Cyclones defeat Chuckey Doak tonight 2-1. If I'm hearing right, South Greene beat Unicoi. WOW!! If that's correct, this season is really going to be interesting. Does anybody have any info? GO CYCLONES!! Don't just be proud, be thankful!
  10. Hey Coachh17, Cyclones lost a heartbreaker tonight in 8 eight innings to Cherokee 5-3. Was a great game although I would have liked to have been on the winning side. Cherokee has a very solid team this year with 2 very good pitchers. And, yes, Jasmine is catching and is doing a good job. She will be used some in the outfield because its hard to keep all that speed behind the plate. As far as pitching goes, it's more of a matchup type rotation. It's nice to have the luxary of having 5 girls to choose from. This game should only help Elizabethton in the conference matchups. Let you know more as it happens. GO CYCLONES!! Don't just be proud, be thankful!
  11. Hey Ref, We were told (misinformed) that Abingdon was supposed to have a good team this year. When we played them and it was determined that they didn't look very good, we really didn't know if we were playing their varsity or the coach was just trying different combinations because it was only a scrimmage. In my post, I didn't state that there was a "Wow" factor in Elizabethton. Only trying to relay to Coachh17 that we looked good in our season opener against South Greene, which by the way, does have a very good team and their pitcher looks really good too. If you watched games at the Unaka jamboree, what teams gave you that "Wow" factor? I didn't see any "Wow" factors at the Unaka Jamboree but I did see a lot of teams with some potential. You're right about the third baseman. In my opinion, she was the best 3rd baseman in the conference last year as a freshman. She's a dandy. Elizabethton should be very strong in their conference because we have a lot of good pitching this year. They should be fun to watch but of course, Unicoi will be the favorite. GO CYCLONES!!! Don't just be proud, be thankful!
  12. Coachh17, Just thought I'd give you a little info on the Lady Cyclones season opener against South Greene. Summer Smith pitched an outstanding game holding South Greene scoreless. Our offense really didn't get going until about the 4th or 5th inning. A lot of contact, just couldn't get anything to fall. The bats finally came around in the 5th and Smith helped herself out with a big hit with bases loaded to score 3. The power seems to be down a little from last year with the loss of Hubbard but the team speed on defense really looked good. Bellesa came in the 6th to close the game out for a final of Cyclones 5, South Greene 0. Could prove to be an interesting year for these ladies. Did show room for improvement especially in the bunting department but overall a real impressive win for the Cyclones. As for your questions about the preseason, we beat most teams by double figures including Unaka, Crockett and a very strong Abingdon team. The only losses came from Dobyns-Bennett and they were both close games decided by one run. More info later. GO CYCLONES!!! Don't just be proud, be thankful!
  13. I'm sure by now you all know that I'm a Cyclone fan. I don't read a lot into Doug Fritz' post because he is very biased, for obvious reasons but any of these coaches mentioned above could certainly be in the running for coach of the year. Wilson did take the sophomores to the State Tournament but I think Pietrowski was the only one of them that saw any considerable playing time. It's my opinion if Weems would have coached that year, they would have had a better shot at winning the State. All of these coaches poured their heart and soul into this season but as far as accomplishments, I would have to say Coach Tolley overachieved. I hope KRich gets that loan from the President for that new Carter County newspaper. It would be nice to read something besides the "Milligan Star", about ETSU sports. Don't just be proud, be thankful!
  14. I understand that Tim Campbell has always been interested in returning to Hampton and this very well could be good timing for him. Leon Tolley is devoted to the Dogs in whatever capacity they need him to be and I've always admired him for that. I know Leon and Len are very good friends and have always talked about coaching together one day. It may be a long shot for both of them to land at EHS but if it were to happen, good luck in finding a seat in AL John Treadway gymnasium. After talking with Coach Weems a few times, I believe he is pretty content right where he is (and why wouldn't he be). He's doing a great job and gets phenomenal respect from both players and fans from EHS. He seems to be a first class guy on and off the court. As far as Coach Chambers goes, if he makes a move, it will be upward, not lateral (AA possibly even AAA). Bottom line is all of these coaches are great ones and any area team would be blessed to add them to their staff. And, I see nothing shameful about posting any information on here as long as it pertains to East Tennessee basketball. I've talked to school board members, athletic directors and coaches from different schools from time to time and more often than not topics like the one mentioned above often come up. To those of you who think Len Dugger is not the top candidate for the Head job at EHS, you're wrong. At one time, Mr. Ed was out and everyone said he would never be back and the voters spoke out and elected a new school board, and guess what, Ed's back and from what I'm hearing from at least 1 school board member (a friend of mine) and a whole lot of cyclone boosters, is they want Len Dugger as head coach of the Cyclones. And, we all can't forget, Mike Wilson is still the coach until Mike Wilson decides to give it up and we should support him if he stays. So here's my shameful comment for you blood thirsty sharks to circle around, "All the above mentioned programs are going to be playing baseball and softball a lot sooner than expected." GO CYCLONES! Don't just be proud, be thankful!
