  1. Isn't the Giles Co stud QB supposed to be at Richland? Also, is it true that Richland is a closed zone school while Giles County is open? In other words, I was told that you could leave the Richland area and go to Pulaski for school, but couldn't do it the other way around. Those things if true, could make a difference.
  2. This seems to be a classic case of someone "stirring" it up. He/she is probably sitting back laughing at the reaction to some of his/her silly comments. If indeed playitup is actually a Forrest fan, he is fully aware of how fortunate they were to beat Trinity last year and how difficult it will be to beat Huntingdon/Trinity again this year. Trust me everyone who knows a lick about softball this year knows about the two west TN 1A teams that will have to be dealt with in Murfreesboro.
  3. If they play in Fayetteville ASAP this afternoon they might get it in, otherwise, the radar isn't looking good for later this evening.
  4. You're right. I didn't think about the "if necessary" game. I wonder if it came down to that game if they would leave it up to the coaches involved to decide whether or not to come back on Friday. Lots of districts may run out of time because of the weather though, so getting to play it out on the field is not a bad thing. Look at 9A, they are going to try and play 7 games on Saturday.
  5. Looks like to me no one would have to play more than three games. Considering the early start time, the increased chances of rain on Friday and Saturday, and not having to drive the hour and a half back to Huntland one more time, it seems like the best decision to me.
  6. dore83-as usual great post As for the original question-I don't have a problem with a kid shooting the basketball or working out with the b-ball team during 4th Block then practicing softball after school. Now, if the basketball coach is running them til they puke on the day of a big district tourney game then we have a problem. The bigger picture problem is all of the "off season" stuff that kids are expected to do now. I would think some of the fun in basketball is gone when you practice the entire school year during 4th block, spend half your summer at team camps, and the other half playing AAU ball. It's a double edged sword, the kid is certainly gaining skills, but at what cost to the family? Oh for the good old days when you played school ball only during that sports season then moved on to the next sport til the next year.
  7. I think its crazy that we don't have a small window in the fall once school starts for tryouts. That way most of the new kids to your school are there and you can set your team for any fall or winter fundraisers/workouts. Probably something the MTSCA should consider pushing for. It would seem the logical time to set your team. I know many use the summer period, but its terribly inconvienient and not really fair to some girls who may be working hard to improve thru summer and fall workouts/games/lessons. If you wait til spring to set your team you are way behind on workouts or your workouts have had to have been voluntary for some girls who may end up cut.
  8. Hopefully they can get all four in today. Tomorrow looks like a washout and based on the extended forcast they may need to consider starting early and finishing the whole thing whenever the next dry day is.
  9. In 1A I wouldn't be surprised to see a Huntingdon - Trinity west TN final if the matchups work out. Thomas can flat bring it from Huntingdon and Trinity seems to be on a mission since the upset by Forrest last year. For east TN there is a private school from Chattanooga flying under the radar in Grace Baptist Academy. They have played toe-to-toe with the big boys and could make some noise come Fling time.
  10. Well then it must depend on the ump. I saw a kid attempt to protect herself by tucking the the front elbow and turning her shoulder. Ump said she did not make "enough" of an attempt to get first base. Now, granted it was an offspeed pitch that didn't hurt at all, but the girl still made an attempt to move.
  11. I totally agree. That's why I specifically pointed out that both are great programs, with great players, who do things the right way. My post was directed towards the poster that seemed surprised that a single A school could compete with GP. I just wanted to point out that the single A school he was talking about was also a small private school from a metro area just like Goodpasture. And they are very lucky, but you can't argue that the small to mid-size private schools in metro areas sure seem to be lucky pretty often. Before you get upset at that statement understand that if I lived in a metro area I would love for my kids to go to one of those schools as they are wonderful places for your kids. That doesn't mean that I think they should be battling truly rural schools for titles. JMO
  12. Not considering it was a single A PRIVATE school from metro Jackson beating a AA PRIVATE from metro Nashville. Not bashing either one as both are top-notch programs with great players who are good folks. Just pointing out that some things never change.
  13. Didn't see that coming. I thought those two would be pretty even.
  14. How good are those fields after a little rain? Right now it looks like rain Thurs night and Fri morning and then clearing late Friday and a nice Saturday. I know there are a bunch of teams needing to get some real work. Hope they can get everything in.
  15. I know some of the 1A areas don't have much competition, however that's still pretty impressive. I hope they make it to state this year so we can see how Fadnek compares to some of the other quality 1A pitchers that might make it like: Thomas - Huntington Stinnett - Forrest Renfroe sisters - Trinity Cole - Cornersville
  16. All I'm saying is that MrNoitall has some of these teams on both the go to the boro and the pay to get in list. I think he copy and pasted and missed a few teams like DeKalb.
  17. Same for DeKalb County. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  18. Good one! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  19. Soddy looked like the best team and won all of their games. Cornersville looked good as well. Would have been interesting to see if they could hang with Soddy. Friendship looked good and will likely be getting better. Station Camp played well outside of the dud against Cornerville and gave Soddy a tussel for the majority of the game before Soddy scored some runs very late in the game. East Robertson was competitve but looked shorthanded as I don't guess they had all of their team there. Brentwood doesn't have the talent they have had in the past, but they made several good plays and seemed to be working hard.
  20. I was hoping they could get in some games this evening, weather is beautiful right now. Tomorrow looks like a complete washout. Usually a great tourney so maybe the weather will cooperate next year.
  21. Weather sure looks bad for this weekend. I'll be surprised it they get much of anything in. If they don't play that will be two out of the last three weekends that have been complete washouts. Some teams that were depending on tourneys will be hurting for some games against some good competition. There are some teams that have only been able to play 4 or 5 games.
  22. Based on scores and what is known about each team it looks like Summertown and Collinwood will fight it out again. I would love to hear a report on their game from the other day. Both teams are solid. Perry County played CA close so they look to be right behind Summertown and Collinwood. I'm going to assume the rest of the district falls way off.
  23. Can they? Yes. Will they? Check back in mid-may. I would think East Robertson, Columbia Academy, Richland, Collinwood, and Summertown might have a little something to say about it as well.

    Commando Classic

It was sleeting good in west Nashville not long ago. A little snow looked like it was trying to mix in. Also plenty of rain around, so the weather looks pretty terrible.
