Milan is prime for an upset. Sloppy defense. Offense that stops it self.

Back to the game. Milan was over confident and getting worse every week. This is 03 all over again. Part of the 03 fiasco was the coaching staff's fault. They and the players, better get it straight or by the time Milan and Martin meet, look out and then someone like Camden or Humboldt will slip up on them , just like Trenton did last year. I guess with today's kids it is much easier to talk a good game, than to work hard, shut up and play one.

Once again K Ward & staff have done a great job. Hope the Kid that was hurt is Ok. I think he should be, as he was moving legs, probably just precautionary. Camden is scrappy. I like the way they get after people. Never quit. Milan is very talented. Right now Milan reminds me of the 03 team. They are not playing as hard or as smart as they could be. Not as much intensity as there should be. Just coasting along, just a tad over confident. And it may not happen for a while, but with the talent they have they should get to the finals, but it will be there over confident attitude if they don't. 03 all over again. And I lay part of that on Milan coaches. They were a big reason it happened in 03.

GC I hear you have a brother that is a teacher. Get him to teach you to read and understand. Forget it, you'll figure it out one day, and maybe I'll still be around to say I told you so!!. LOL Until then good luck.

GC you need to backup, re-read the post. My son you are jumping to conclusions, trying to put something in there, that is not there. As usual when you THINK someone is degrading GC, your blood pressure comes out of your mouth. Ease up son, it is just a game! In 2 years , maybe 1, I want to see YOUR FACE when you figure out what I am talking about. As far as GC goes, if Milan does not win it, which I doubt, I hope GC or MW does. If it helps you any I scouted BTW for you guys last year. I gave you the book on them. You guys had 3 people @ 1 game to scout them. I gave you the whole season and 5 games I scouted in person.

Give him 2 years and he and Paige will be recruiting the GC, OC, 7AA, 13 AA girls for real.

1st of all congrats to Marshall County. Milan survived tough tests in 13AA, 7AA & Memphis Hillcrest just to make the goal of reaching the state tournament possible. Now the rest of this is strictly my opinon. It's mine and I really don't care if anyone agrees or not. Good job to Mr. Todd for setting up a 1st class trip for the lady dogs, from hotel accomadations,meals, etc., etc. The Mr & Miss basketball awards are too political and need to be re-thought or done away with. Did Miss Davis deserve the AA award, I have no idea. I only saw her play twice. How many writers that voted from East Tn or NW TN saw Miss Davis or C Riley ? I would say very few. So here is my thinking, to have 1 from Memphis and 1 from NW TN and one from middle Tn, I would say the one from mid-state would win most of the time as the west is split and mid state is not and more than likely very few from the east even voted and if they did it was a guess. By stats alone Ms Riley was the best. After seeing all 3 play, Chantell was the best player. I don't even know the criteria the voters are to use when voting, just what was printed in the guide. Congrats to all the nominees, as you are all winners. Creekwood: Things must have fell their way, as they are a 6th place team in AA. Very well coaches, ran some good stuff, just not the most talented team. Congrats on getting there, not an easy task. Upperman: A lot like Westview, except they had a 6'3 post player. Davis is a great player and is to be commended for getting her team to the state tourn. Lacking in overall size, which hurt them on the boards. Would finish 4th or 5th in 13AA. By the way, as good as Davis is, she has been cloned, from Rechis @ Westview. Same type of player, same size, Davis better driving, Rechis better shooter. Marshall County: Managed to come out on top. If tournament was played again next week, I don't think the same team would win twice in a row between McMinn, Milan, Marshall County. All solid teams. The March girl is one of the top ten players in the state as a junior. McQueen deadly shooter. Moffett very dependable. Simmons, better post then I expected. Milan did not defend the inbounds plays of MC as instructed. Milan did not rebound as well as they usually do. MC limited Grey for the most part to being a 1/2 court offensive threat. Milan got nothing offensively from 3 land. Some missed, some blocked, (good job on MC's part) not smart on Milan's part. Simmons made more shots than expected. Both teams played excellent 1/2 court defense. Chantell did an awesome job on March. Milan got 14 offensive rebounds and 1 foul on 14 putbacks, very unusual to say the least. MC is a very deserving team. Would finish with the best of 13AA, if not at the top. Milan did not help themselves. Most of the time when they did this in the season they managed to pull it out. You can only pull it out so many times against good competition. I've been waiting for Poston to show me everything she had in a game. I was fortunate enough to see it in the last 2 games she played. Grey has matured so much. In that small body is a lot of heart. Good luck in the future. Milan will be lucky to have 2 athletes like those 2 again, ever. For those of you that doubted the abilities of Coach V, /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> , he is one of the best.

GCP don't expect an overflow crowd. BTW will only bring 25-50 people.

She and Grey are pretty comparable. At this point, Grey is a better defender, rebounder and a little tougher. Butler is a better shooter & passer. However Butler has the opportunity to be so much more. And I am all for her, she is a great kid. As far as comparing her and Poston, she can not do what Chantell does. If she was in CP's position and was not surrounded by outstanding talent, and was double teamed and sometimes triple teamed all night, could she average 20 a night. The answer is no. Maybe later, but not now. She does not even catch the best defender on the other team, on an every night basis.

Gray is going via the JV route. Butler is an awful good player. I do have a comment though. Trade her for Poston, would Milan be as good? Could she handle all of the every night double teaming and shirt grabbing, hand checking, pushing, and still get it done , as she does now. Trade her for Rechis, would Martin be a good? being the focul point of the defense every play. Trade her for Roney, would OC have been as good? Butler shines becasue of her talent and her mind. She shines brightly because you can not double team her every play don the court as she has good teamamtes. She is not a one man show

He called the timeouts, gave the correct things to do an tried to calm the troops. Players must execute and they did not. To improve , sometimes a step backwards is worth 2 forward. BTW has a couple of big girls. Pate and Griffen will have them for a light snack!!, if they ever get the ball across 1/2 court. Look out front row, it's coming, duck. Last minute of the game, HC up 1 40-39. BTW chases Hc around the floor until 12 sec left and then decides to foul. The they wait until Riley has the ball and fouls her. Can you say ball game over. You guys had some folks there watching also. I'm sure we will be comparing each others notes tomorrow. Hopefully both teams will be back equal again, and will meet for round 6 !! Are you ready to rumblllllllle!!! (couldn't resist)

First of all I didn't attend tonight's game @ Hawoooooood!! 2nd congrats to GC !! I did speak to coach V, on the way home. He didn't mention anything about officiating, so I am considering it a non-factor for now. And to set the record straight "he did have a clue what was happening". He was more disappointed in that when Glenn fouled out and then Grey had to sit a long while, etc that most of the rest of the group completely folded. That could be a good thing. It is good that something glared and can now be addressed and corrected. Can we say wake up call!! It could be the best thing for Milan for that to happen in a non-put out game. I did see the Memphis teams play tonight. GC will absolutely destroy BTW. It will be sub time @ the 1/2. GCP, LNF, etc make reservations. Milan however has a different situation. C Riley down 8 in the 4th, with just a few minutes to go , stepped up and carried her team to victory, just a a Div 1 signee should. R Wren is also a very good athlete. Hillcrest will give Milan some problems , as they are the quickest team Milan will have seen. Milan must handle the ball, and dominate inside as HC is very small. Milan will have a distinct size advantage, but does not match up well with all of the quickness HC has.

To add alittle bit of info to this post Carol Smith was an allstate player for Milan that year, who until just recently held the all time scoring lead at Milan. Carol has 2 daughters that playat NSide.Chantell Poston just became Milan's all time leading scorer and currently has 1,953 points and well over 900 rebounds. Two teams from the same region can not meet until the finals, as they are automatically put into seperate brackets.

First of all I must say I wish there was a way all 4 13AA could make it to state. It just doesn't seem right. J. Roney I personally enjoyed watching you play. You are smart, tough and a true leader. Any team would be blessed to have you be a part of it. Good luck in all you do. NSHD again you guys over achieved. I see a bright future ahead for you guys. GC although we will be cheering against each other Wed night, let's make sure we cheer for each other to meet a 6th time!

Milan Gibson County BTW Hillcrest Only 16 teams left in AA

C Riley is a point guard with C Poston skills and abilities and I believe was state tourney MVP as a freshman when they defeated NSide in the final. Heart isn't always there and doesn't have the supporting cast 13AA has. A Holmes is another D1 signee for Mitchell. She is hampered by a severly sprained ankle right now but still manages her 20 a game, when she does not sit out. Whoever goes to Memphis will have a tough night, but still should pull it out. Home team should win.

Watch for NSHD /PRR pulled over on the side of the road, wandering aimlessly. This game is like a semi-final game in the state. I believe the two teams that win tomorrow , also meet next Saturday night!

AA is down to 32 teams and after Monday's it is cut to the SWEET 16!!
