Marshall County defeated Loretto last night 5-3 for the winner's bracket final. Loretto plays Giles County tonight and the winner will play Marshall County tomorrow.

It's actully 24-14. The only game that isn't on the schedule is BGA from the Franklin Tournament, Marshall won 5-3

baseballfan1, not to take anything away from Creekwood, but... Paij Lintz did have 15 strikeouts and gave up only 3 hits (perfect game going into the fifth inning.) Marshall County had 8 hits with 2 of them being home runs, and the defense had only 1 error allowing Creekwood's only run to score. I don't understand what you mean by .. Doesn't make sense.

I agree... I don't want to win or lose anything based on coin toss alone. If a tiebreaker is needed, let it be broken on the field (runs allowed, run differential) anything but a coin toss. Hopefully this rule can be changed before next season starts. This is two years in a row Giles County has come out on top due to coin toss.

It's not to end the season... just to decide who is district champ and who is 2nd place. They both start district tournaments Monday.

Giles and Loretto don't play until Monday (they get byes due to being #1 & #2 in district). Winner of Page/Fairview plays Loretto, winner of Lewis/Marshall plays Giles.

Didn't know this topic was going to get so out of hand when I started this thread. I guess I just feel that girls deserve 3 umps in games that are so important. I think the extra $ spent would at least make you feel that all steps were taken to ensure a great game that was decided on the field, not with a questionable call.

Overall, we had very good umpires @ the Spring Fling. We had a couple of questionable calls in the field in one of our games, but we only had 2 umps and sometimes the position he was in left him incapable of seeing a play (first basemen pulled off bag, for example). (See thread discussing 2 umps for girls, 3 for boys...) I know the bottom line is $$$, but the TSSAA requires the high schools to pay for 3 umpires when your school gets to the Regions and Sectionals, but they don't feel they should have to pay 3 in the STATE.

Anybody heard scores from the Gibbs/Brighton game or Lenoir City/Camden game?

FEAR NOT FANS OF THREE UMPIRES! Three umps will appear after the first two rounds. Will baseball have 4 in the final rounds? If not, why does softball start with 2 and end with 3?

The Tigerettes got beat in the first game by Lenoir City 3-1. We gave up 3 runs in the first inning and nothing after that, but couldn't get our bats going soon enough. Lenoir City had a tough left handed pitcher. We just didn't play to our potential in this game. That put us in the loser's bracket to play Brighton and we lost 9-5. Brighton got put in the losers bracket by losing to David Lipscomb. I guess after facing Meghan Rhodes our pitching looked like batting practice. They are a good hitting team. We played hard and are very proud of our girls. We're young and hope to make it back for another chance. Thanks for asking about us!
