  1. What happened in the Smyrna / Mt. Juliet game? Who pitched for both teams?
  2. They won the two games on Sat. and their game today. They're 4-1.
  3. "QUOTE(mcfan10 @ May 26 2006 - 04:13 PM) The strike zone for Marshall Co. was gettin smaller all night. Goodpasture's kept getting bigger. The strike zone for Marshal County stayed the same it's just that the multiplier system of 1.8 made the zone larger for Goodpasture. That was agreed upon by the TSSAA when the multipier was inacted. You have an great team and a good coaching staff. Don't tarnish their accomplishments by such nonsense excuses" So STD are you saying that the TSSAA, by using the multiplier rule, allowed single A schools to come up to AA, mandated to the umpires to increase the strike zone for these schools? If this is true how did the TSSAA officials reason that this would be equitable? Especially since the multiplier rule was used to try to even the playing field because most of these schools that moved up to AA recruit even though they claim they don't? You have to agree that these schools have the ability to attract higher caliber players, in larger cities, due to what they can offer? If the TSSAA was trying to make it equitable, why not make it the same for both teams? As to Marshall Co. having a great team, it is a team made up of girls with much God given talent and ability, and it is my hope they will continue to remember where the blessings in their life come from and always give God credit for those blessings on and off the field. It has been a wonderful 4 yrs. with much to be thankful for.
  4. Can someone please post directions for where Hume Fogg plays, or where the Hume Fogg-Marshall Co game will be played?
  5. Is Lipscomb's field at the same location as their high school, the Granny White Pike address?
  6. Sportsmaniac: You need to go directly to the doctor and get checked out. If you're really that enthusiastic about playing in the future then your health has to be the top priority. Remember a lot of players that make it to the next level are not always the best, they're the healthiest. Also, any coach that is concerned about their players would definitely encourage you to tell your parents and get medical attention asap. If they don't, they don't care about you or any player on that team. There is nothing to be ashamed of when you get hurt. If you begin the healing process now, you will not regret it in the future.
  7. CC; I have several recommendations for you. First of all bowling while it does strengthen the arm does not strengthen the (correct) throwing muscles perse. These muscles are only strengthened through a program of throwing and JOBE exercises, (specific weighted motions for rotator cuff, etc.) Also, the bowling form or style is not the correct style for throwing submarine. Neither is the "Jenny Finch" style. This can be easily illustrated by looking at pictures and slo mo film of current side arm and submarine mlb pitchers. I would highly recommend that you analyze, Mike Myers and Byung Hyun Kim. Although you aspire to have your son throw this particular style at age 9, I think you would be better off in the long run if you invested in a good over hand pitching coach and establish correct fundamentals first before moving on to a sidearm or submarine type motion. Having the correct arm motion is a very difficult and precise motion. That's why few people can do it at a high level. I think if you procede in the way you are going not only will you cause arm pain and frustration you will also probably assist your son in never reaching his true potential in terms of velocity, movement, accuracy and overall throwing ability. Not trying to be harsh but you would do well to heed the advice.
  8. mh7, good logic. Apparently you and few others understand pitch count and necessary arm care. There's a great difference between a starter and reliever and you can't do both simultaneously, regardless of what conventional high school coaching wisdom says. All you have to do is look at how the pros do it. Could they be doing it wrong?
  9. Any coach that would let his young pitcher throw 156 pitches, does not have the players best interest in mind. Cody: Don't let your coaches' zeal for winning ruin your baseball future. Stay at no more than 105, max! and you will be thankful in the future that you did.

    Megan Rhodes

Congratulations to Megan Rhodes for being named to the Freshman All-SEC team. What a great accomplishment for a very talented and nice young lady! thumb
  11. I was just wondering what the format was for this tournament? How many pool games and when will elimination games start?
  12. Marshall Co. played MPHS, Perry Co and Springhill. The scores were: Marshall Co. 9 - MPHS 0 Marshall Co. 10 - Perry Co 0 Marshall Co. 7 - Springhill 0 All three teams looked to be young, I'm sure more experience will sharpen their game.
  13. The "reps" as MC Lefty calls them are very annoying even to the most loyal Marshall Co. fans. Cheering on your teammates is one thing. Making it almost impossible to hear the announcers on the radio is another. MC players should let their gloves and bats do the talking. They have enough God-given talent without having to depend upon an annoying chant to gain an advantage over the other team. As one post on this forum already says, "Speak softly and carry a big stick." Let the major league players be your example.

    Megan Rhodes

Congratulations to Megan Rhodes on her first collegiate win! Way to go! thumb
  17. I saw Natalie Edwards play a little at the state tourney in murfreesboro. She seemed to be an all-around solid player. I think she is a senior. I'm sure she'll be playing somewhere next fall.
  18. Two questions? When does the Tennessean name its all mid-state golf team and player of the year? and When is the all-state team named? I believe the info about the top 5 state finishers in the various divisions being named to the all-state team is correct.
  19. What is the opinion of the Twitty City program? What do you think of the competition level? and the players (in general) who play there?
  20. It is very strange for any pitcher to intentionally put a batter on base by hitting them, and I know Megan wouldn't do it. I can speak from experience when I say that sometimes riseballs slip off a pitcher's hand. Actually it can happen quite often. Nobody really knows all the control that has to go into pitching, especially spins, until they do it. I had lots of fun at the state tournament and especially when I got the chance to play against Lipscomb. That game is something I will never forget. Megan, you are a wonderful, very gifted pitcher and I wish you the best of luck at UT. I know you will do great. P.S. That ball you hit back at me hurt.
  21. What happened? Did they play the game? If so, what was the score and who won?
  22. Marshall Co plays Giles @ 4:30 @ Giles location. ( not the high school) Page plays Loretto @ Loretto, don't know the time.
  23. I'm not sure how 1st and 2nd will work out. I believe Loretto and Giles are tied. Fairview will play Page on Fri. at Page and Lewis will play Marshall on Fri at Marshall. Don't know about times.
  24. What teams were in the championship game? and what was the score?
